Jacobs writes an entertaining novel. The ultimate big picture is that we should all care about our health and fitness in order to lead a quality life, but not to obsess about diet, exercise and toxins so that we create limits to joyful experiences with family and friends.

A. J. Jacobs is hysterical plain and simple. If you want to laugh `til your side's ache read this book. By presenting us with this gigantic health formula I've concluded that I should EAT LESS and exercise more.

Jacobs is hilarious and very insightful. He makes a thorough search of total health for every body part,
consulting many experts. He takes the reader on his relentless journey as he documents his personal
experience with each phase of the required disciplines.

Great book, mostly entertaining stuff. Jacobs is a very funny man.
I recommend it not so much as a serious study, although it is well documented, but for the view on how difficult and ambiguous it is to try to be healthy in every respect.

Jacobs does a nice job in a relatively short book exploring both the wise and wacky approaches to good health. He is funny and puts realistic slant on the job of achieving and maintaining a healthy body/mind and spirit.

I love this book so much. The writing, the information, the humor, the photos, the story, and really the whole idea of this quest. Love it all. This book touches on so many topics and health-related studies, findings, etc, very concisely - it's fabulous! And, it's such a pleasure to read anything written by AJ Jacobs, really. I love everything he shares about his wife Julie, whose comments are hilarious. I love the way he approaches his quest(s) with such curiosity and enthusiasm and thoroughness. I really learned a lot and find myself putting several of these ideas into practice! I'm almost at the end of the book, and am already planning to reread it immediately (nerd alert!). So glad I bought an actual book for myself (vs. checking it out at the library). It's a definite keeper.

This is the third book that Jacobs has written and it feels tired and uninspired. The author has found a formula to writing and selling books. While this is good for his personal success, it is isn't nearly as beneficial to readers who enjoyed his Know-It-All book.
I found the laughs to be few and the amount of information lacking. You won't miss much if you choose to skip this one.

Like all A.J. Jacobs books I have enjoyed reading this book.
He has many resources and taps into them to answer myths and questions as
he pursues his personal quest. Good reading and learn something at the same time!1

I loved this book! It was informative, insightful, funny and touching. AJ Jacobs managed to pack a lot of helpful health information into this book without being boring or preachy. There were several places where I laughed right out loud. I loved it so much, I ordered the audio cds for my husband to listen to on his very long commute to work because I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this book! In fact, I loved it so much, I read it twice!!

I was expecting something more along the lines of "the four hour body", which this book is not. It is a sometimes funny, sometimes sad look at the extremes we go to in America to be 'healthy', whatever that term may mean. There are no hard and fast 'rules' that you are ordered to follow, and the range of diets tried go from Paleolithic to Vegan. A guick, fairly enjoyable read, but not serious life style changing.

You cannot watch TV or flip through a magazine without being bombarded with ads about improving your health. And even if you do not want to admit it, you wonder sometimes if what is being said is true....even a little bit true. After all, you are paying attention because you want to lose weight or get in better shape. You want to be healthy, but you are not sure you want to try that (whatever it is) out. You have no close personal friends who have tried that out. In comes A.J. Jacobs to the rescue. He takes on the fads for me. And I get to live vicariously through his own trials and tribulations. Quite often I laughed (his style cracks me up), and quite often I thought to myself...hmmm...sounds promising. This is not a book to get in depth knowledge about any one thing but it a great introduction to the many ways you can improve your health by making small changes. Run barefoot? Maybe I will try it. Juicing? Have tried it. Works a bit for me. I would think any one or a combination of the advice he followed will improve the health of most people. I know there will be those who find his approach too light-hearted and maybe not well researched he did meet and speak with many leaders in their respective fields. In short, you have to ask yourself if you learned something from this book. I did. I was inspired to learn more. That alone makes this a worthwhile read. It is a quick read...a fun read and a great motivator for anyone who needs a kick in the backside to get busy getting healthy.

I found this to be an entertaining and thought provoking book. As a scientist I was rather let down by the lack of consistency in how progress was reported, but this is not a scientific paper so I should probably let that slide.

Very rarely does a book have me laughing out loud. This one though had me getting some strange looks for the amount of times I laughed.
Love the subject choice too. In an era where people are so obsessed with health, someone finally attempts to do all those things they say you should do.
