I never would have guessed by reading Mr. Robbins works that he also lived a life of such imagination. The world is a better place because of his books, and mind expanding prose. I was sad that this book had to end!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading Tom Robbins write about his real life experiences. I am a fan of all of his very imaginative novels and this autobiography is in the spirit of those novels yet down to earth at the same time. He is the master of crafting a great sentence and master of the metaphor!!

Not for first time Tom Robbins readers. Only true believers may find this account of a post post modern life interesting.

Tommy Rotten got to be an outlier the same way we all did, by striving for a human perspective, telling 1950s US culture to shove it and by making friends, building a counter culture and hanging on.

Who knew he was all those other memes before Roadside Attraction. Please someone make a movie out of Jitterbug Perfume!
An Elemental Assassin Book (Elemental Assassin series) :: Poison Promise (Elemental Assassin Series Book 11) :: Bitter Bite (Elemental Assassin Series Book 14) :: Heart of Venom (Elemental Assassin Series Book 9) :: a novel by Hannah Green (1964-11-08) - I never promised you a rose garden

Enjoyable to read (as always), but it's title suggested (to me) another one of his great stories (like my favorite "Jitterbug Perfume") so I was a little disappointed. But, if you're a TR fan, it's a must read. Respect the process.

As a long time fan of Tom Robbins, this autobiographical tour illuminates the roots and branches of his writing style. I noted four rather than five stars only due to a desire to have heard more about the individual books and the story development. Guess one can hope for a second slice.

As usual Tom Robbins has written a funny, perceptive book well worth reading. If you are a boomer, you'll love his reminiscences-I haven't heard the phrase "counter culture" in years. I love his writing and view points about the time that I also shared

Tom Robbins is brilliant, talented and very funny. Who else can base novels around tin cans, cutlery, rubber hygiene devices and beets? His books are as enlightening as they are entertaining. Tom Robbins would make a first rate dinner guest and has already brought the dessert.

Lots of stories of the authors past experiences-strange eperiences-- claimed to be all true. Some are embelleshed and made into a better story than the authors first experience--Or you can take it all as real life experiences. Just the facts, Mam.

the only single thing that may be wrong with this word perfect narrative is that it may be Tom Robbins final offering. He is the voice of my generation and made me so nostalgic for the 60s and 70s. This is a perfect read!

The meandering thoughts of an old man glossing through his life. Nothing short of what I'd expect from a memoir of the authors life, however embellished. Life through the eyes of Tom Robbins can certainly be entertaining.

Tom Robbins is insightful and funny as ever. Although this is not a work of fiction, but more of a self-portrait, it is enlightening to see how Robbins transformation came about throughout his life, and how his writing progressed.

Tom Robbins is my favority author. From "Another Roadside Attraction" through "Tibetan Peach Pie", his wordsmithing makes me laugh and enjoy life more than I would without his writing. I hope his next book comes soon.

Robbins makes you think all the time when you are reading his books. I became a big fan after I read his first book. It was unlike any other I had encountered. I don't really have the words to describe how I see his writing. It is kind of like comparing bologna and steak. Steak being Robbins.

I enjoyed this a lot (and liked learning more about TR), but it also made me a bit sad; this book really feels like a denouement on Robbins' career, and I can't imagine not having more new writing from him.

Once again, a truly vivid,(not"Too Damn Vivid", Switters would say) glimpse into THE most forward thinking writer putting words on paper. Never Has Mr. Robbins failed to stimulate my 'What-to-it-tary' gland and this sojourn into his meandering paths across the globe is no exception. As My five year old likes to say...." It seems to happen 'Auto-magically'. He is a Universal Treasure; no offense to National Treasure, Treasure Island or the Sierra Madre version.

While reading this book, I felt like I was spending time with a highly imaginative 10 year old. The book pulled me in, made me laugh, and did not fail to entertain me. Will probably read it again sometime.

If you love, like, or tolerate Tom Robbins books, then you must, or should, if you like, read this book. I ended up wanting to hear all the stories he rejected for inclusion. His stories have always made a little sense to me, now they make all the sense in the universe.

I do love Tom Robbins' style and imagination. These are some of the stories of his life and it left me hungry for his novels. I jumped right into Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas and I have a stack to read and reread. He is always off the wall eloquent.

I have loved every single Tom Robbins book and this one is no different! He is pretty much the coolest person there ever was, and it's so interesting to get the real stories that inspired his books. This is a must read for any Tom Robbins fans out there!!

Tom Robbins has gone over the top with his remarkable humor and reflections on his his incredible journey. I really never laugh out loud when I read, but I found myself hysterical and the bed shaking as I read Tibetan Peach Pie. He is clearly a genius and anyone who has read his books or experienced the 60's 70's will not be able to put this down. So sorry when it ended. Tom, you are the best.
