Very unusual idea for cause of super powers. Super man is a retired Marine Recon Captain? Brilliant! In clouding two teens with powers just to throw in some unexpected mess, oh and the bad guys are a superpower biker gang? Talk about your 1%

I was not sure how Evan would work regular people in enhanced ones. :) his method well it worked just fine. The plot also worked for me. After the first book there is plenty of room left to explore Evan only touched on a few of the ppl with enhanced powers. I for one want to see where this (series) goes. Good job E

Evan my wallet is going to hate you, another series and another great read. Aliens decide to exterminate us by editing our DNA to make use more aggressive. What could possibly go wrong with their master plan ?
ONSET: My Enemy's Enemy (Volume 2) :: Voice of Mars (Starship's Mage Book 3) :: Wizard Defiant (Intergalactic Wizard Scout Chronicles Book 1) :: Judgment of Mars (Starship's Mage Book 5) :: Duel in the Dark (Blood on the Stars Book 1)

Superhuman has interesting, believable characters, a strong universe, and a fantastic beginning and end. I was fascinated by the hints about “The Convergence”, and would love to read more about that. My gut tells me that isn’t going to happen for a few books, unfortunately. And... therein lies my qualms.
I think what I want from the story differs greatly from what the author wants. There’s vague mentions of a huge galactic entity controlling large portions of the cosmos, but the book is “Superman VS Scum Bags”. My guess: that will continue for a few more novels. Personally, I don’t know if I’ll want to continue reading that type of plot. It’s too tiny in such an expansive universe.
Don’t get me wrong, this book is fun (though I found the middle a bit slow) and the ending is a helluva blockbuster. It’s just... the scope feels off. I want to experience the bigger, galactic picture.

When I started reading I thought the book was going to be a waste of money. The plot just seemed to be downright silly, but as I got into it I sort of got drawn in. It was a unique plot, one that I hadn’t read the likes of before, which believe me, is saying something. The author had warned that it hadn’t been edited very well which is an accurate statement. Over looking that, it is an interesting concept which I will probably pursue.

Superhuman is a quantum flip from either science fiction or fantasy. I am a huge fan of Evans Into the Black space sagas and don't like to see him go off his prime competence. I was prepared to dislike superhuman just for not being one of his good solid science fiction adventures. But I wound up liking it and am actually looking forward to the second book.

Picked this book up because I really dug the cover and the blurb sounded pretty interesting. I haven't read this sort of genre in years and years but I really drew me in and I couldn't put it down. Excellent writing and humor. I few plot holes that frustrated me but they didn't distract the flow of the book. I really hope that there is a second book.

In fairness, the author did state in the forward that this was an unfinished work, so I gave another half star from what I would have.
I guess I will have to go against the grain and say this just never caught my interest. I gave up at 40%. The premise is just not something I could buy into. The characters were too cliched and predictable, and the writing was also mundane. Spelling, grammar, tense and other errors constantly pulled me out of the story, which is one of my major issues with many authors today. Yes, we were warned, but it is HOUSTON, not Huston! Basic errors should have been squashed before publishing, and based on that forward, it sounds like they should have been. There were many tense errors also. Just, all in all, a slog to read, especially since I just could not buy into a stupid probe from some super advanced non-living race, as if that race could not send intelligent probes due to 'the time between the stars'. They can build a dumb probe that can make the journey and is smart enough to modify the DNA of any life found, but cannot figure out how to put an intelligent machine (I am guessing) in stasis? Nope, the whole premise just doesn't fly with me.
Based on the reviews, many people found this to be an ok book, so I guess it is a your milage may vary sort of thing. This is my opinion. Yours may be different. :)
