The first few chapters are good science fiction and held my attention. But once John Carter reached Mars, the plot was predictable. If you like Edgar Rice Burroughs' type fiction you will like the book. One might better like other Victorian adventure stories such as H. Ryder Haggard's tales of Africa.

A cast of characters that is long and sometimes difficult to remember. However the story is full of constant action. Lots of fighting. Lots of feeling portrayed in the words,
I would recommend this book to anybody that likes an action filled story with many plausible props that don't fit into our belief of physics as they exist on earth..

John Carter is still trying to get his woman back. Most of this book he is chasing down the bad guys trying to save her. It starts to get old how many times she is kidnapped. Anyway if you liked the first two books, you will like this one. This is my stopping point with the series only because it is a mediocre series to me. I only read this far because if you get the free kindle version, book 2 & 3 are only .99 each. Narrator has a nice southern voice, but the names in the story start to sound the same and is slightly confusing.
Crystal Singer: A Novel (Crystal Singer Trilogy) :: Exigency :: Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern :: Killashandra (Crystal Singer Trilogy) :: Interstellar Mage (Starship's Mage - Red Falcon Book 1)

Love the John Carter of Mars series.Burroughs has to be one of the best Science Fiction writers ever. His descriptions of his characters are fantastic; so is the descriptions of Mars landscape. Once you read the first one "Princess of Mars" you can't stop. The whole series is fabulous!

A fantastic series. Easy quick read but have your dictionary ready. Burroughs pulls out a plethora of words that can fuel any readers vocabulary. This installment in the Barsoom series is just as exhilarating as the previous 2

Choose ( 4 ) stars for the excellent details the author brought out in this latest edition of John Carter's adventures. In addition he brought some closure to many of the colorful characters he brought forth in his first several books about John Carter.

An excellent read. ERB did a wonderful job on this entire series and all the books he penned. This is a work of great imagination and perfect for a "mini afternoon vacation". :) I had my children read his books for homeschool and they loved them. After all who doesn't love an epic swashbuckling saga?
