Some books make us laugh, cry, scream or jump with joy. Nothing to Tell did something greater. Not often do we find a book that touches a part of our souls. I grew up in Montana on a cattle ranch, and this book took me back to being six years old, running through alfalfa fields, climbing trees, making apple cider, and eating strawberries and carrots right out of my grandparent's garden. This type of freedom is slowly being lost in history. It was bitter sweet being taken back to those memories. This book reminded me how completely free I felt as a child and how lucky I was to live the life similar to the stories these women describe in Nothing to Tell: Extraordinary Stories of Montana Ranch Women.

I love the stories of pioneers and this collection of memories is full of good ones. It is amazing to me that women even survived on the prairies or crossing the country to get to their destinations. It's because of the sheer courage of these women that we now have the lives we do. It could be argued that women worked harder than men but that's comparing apples and oranges. They both worked hand in hand under difficult circumstances to carve out lives for themselves, their families and their descendants. Sometimes reading what our forebears went through can remind is of how fortunate we are.

This was a short, quick read of "ordinary" people who are actually quite wonderfully special. They were very much in love. I recommend this book. There are good, solid people in the world, living full lives. I really enjoyed this book.
