I vaguely remember this case when it occurred. I am deeply saddened by the unresolved locations of the victims bodies. Overall, this was a detailed account of pure evil which walked amongst is in plain sight.

This book should be required reading for all girls age 13 to 25. Telling your daughters to be aware and having this book to show them what can and does happen are
Two different things. Hopefully the book scares the living daylights out of them and will never be forgotten. It is unfortunate that so many cases are left unsolved. But God willing someday they will be.

This book was very well written and the subject, while disturbing, was fascinating. The only criticism I have is that the author tended to repeat the same information which unnecessarily lengthened the book.
Witch: Unleashed. Untamed. Unapologetic. :: and Hysteria in 1692 Salem - The Witches :: The Witches Of Enchanted Bay (Witches Of Enchanted Bay Cozy Mystery Book 1) :: How to Hang a Witch :: The 50th Law (Smartercomics) by 50 Cent (10-Oct-2012) Paperback

Well, at first I really disliked the writing style. Felt it was more like a fictional novel but once I got through that part, the style changed and became more informative and then it was actually quite interesting. So, couldn't give it a 5 star because of the way it begins but I do recommend it.

This book was mind blowing. It amazes me how twisted and sick a humans mind can become. In this book the vampire is one sick person that has no remorse for his crime. He actually blames the victims. Read this book you will not be disappointed.

JT Hunter's true crime novels are always well written, well researched and attention grabbing. This book is nothing less than that - an account of a little known suspected serial killer, whose crimes remind us how fragile and twisted a life can become.

This true crime author gets your attention and keeps it, for the entire book. Plan on staying up all night, because you won't be able to stop reading!
Not only are there details about everyone involved, but the author has also included other headlines. These interesting blurbs connect you to the timeline of what's happening in the world.
Buy it, you'll like it!

Gripping. I had read about this case before but in this book the author gives so much more depth to the case of Mr. Crutchley. I finished the book quickly because once you start you just cannot put it down. Love it. Can't wait to read more by this author.

This remarkably well written non-fiction book about the exploits of a horrific and morally bankrupt individual, who committed gruesome and heinous acts of violence, needs to be required reading at all criminal forensic institutions of higher learning as well as by members of the public at large who need to see how real life horror can unfold in their own backyard. J. T. Hunter is to be commended for bravely and candidly writing about a modern day monster and for illustrating and taking the reader inside the criminal mind. My bookshelf already has an empty spot to park the next book produced by J.T. Hunter. This book receives my highest recommendation. Dr. Cohen.

Author JT Hunter does a marvelous job of telling the frightening true tale of John Brennan Crutchley, a convicted kidnapper and rapist who was suspected of murdering more than 30 women. He was called the "Vampire Rapist" because he drained the blood of his victim almost to the point of death while he repeatedly sexually assaulted her. Wonderfully researched and meticulously written, Hunter takes the reader behind the scenes into the criminal investigation with detectives, and later in the courtroom. He tells the incredible story of the serial predator’s one surviving victim, and examines the psychopathic mind of Crutchley himself. This is a great debut book from JT Hunter. Well done!

I'm widely read although not especially in the true crime genre . Mr Hunter made this book as much about the victims and their families as was possible while still telling the story . We cannot thank him enough. The story was well written and engaging. It was also chilling to again be reminded that these people live among us and wear the face of everyman. They cannot be readily identified.

This is an overall well written telling of an interesting case. It is "well padded" especially at the end. There is a cheap thrill in the Vampire theme that did draw me in. It is a good crime story, but overall "average".

Most of this book was rehashing the musings, theories and wishes of those investigating this case. Over and over. The basic story could have been told in less than half of this book's length. I felt the level of writing was on an irritatingly elementary level laden with sophomoric phrasing (the killer had to feed his inner beast). Eventually I was disappointed that each turn of page revealed that I had more to read.

A pretty interesting story and with the bare bones approach, there wasn't much wading thru the backstories and personal lives of the police chief, prosecutor, etc. It was sketchy on the trial strategies, and the proof reading must have been nonexistent; typos are numerous. Worth what i paid to read it (free on Kindle); I wouldn't recommend or discourage anyone else who might want to try it.

Extremely detailed, very very through detailing of the case of the Vampire Rapist in Florida. In addition to the horrible crime he was convicted of, he is also, suspected of killing as many as 32 women in several different states. The book was drawn out, a lot of information was repetitive and I skipped some of the less interesting details, such as arguing between LEO’s, DA’s and such. Experienced quite enough of that during my working days.

Overall this is an excellent true crime book, which only reinforces my belief there are really monsters among us.

I read this book from a different perspective . Having spent a year of my life with John's sister , she actually saved my life , I believe that I am privileged to information that others will never have . I will not comment on the writers ability as a writer . Instead , I will say that , from my experience , that there are only a few questionable items in the book . For example , I have no doubt that there was abuse in the Crutchley house . None at all . There is no justification for how John acted out but I have no doubt that there were underlying reasons . In the end , it all culminated in the waste of far too many lives , and that is so sad . Hopefully , John has found in death , the peace that he likely never knew in life . As for his victims , their fear and pain has long ended . Hopefully , they have peace as well , because no one should ever need to die as they did . Maybe I am too forgiving but , in the end , even the worst amongst us springs from the same well . Some just make bad decisions . Overall , this book is 98% accurate and only misses on a few things as I know them . This shows a commitment by the author to compile a factual account . It falls short of 5 stars from me because of how it does tend to get drawn out a bit .

I thoroughly enjoyed "The Vampire Next Door".
On the outside John Crutches was pretty much living "The American Dream ". Like most serial killers he had a high I.Q. John worked as defense contractor. Unbeknownst to the world John Crutchley was a serial killer. He had a dark side and I do mean dark. He killed at least a dozen victims but that number realistically is closer to three dozen. This book was well written and well researched. I'm an avid true crime reader but I hadn't heard of this writer. After reading this book, I have now added author JT Hunter to my list of favorite true crime authors! ??
