This book is, simply put, amazing. It is not just a guide for women who are interested in Wicca or The Craft, but it is an inspiring read that empowers and vitalizes the meaning of being a WOMAN. I absolutely LOVE this book and can't wait to sink my teeth into more of Lisa Lister's work!

This is the first witchcraft book I purchased. I love this book. It solidified everything for me. I won’t use some of the information bc it doesn’t pertain to my journey, but it’s vast, in depth, and easy to understand. It is a bit graphic as she’s very in tune with her lady bits so be advised that if you are insecure about your female parts, tread lightly. Highly recommend for anyone wondering if witchcraft is for them.

This book is amazing. It’s all about empowering yourself as a woman and embracing your inner “witch”. It explains the sabbats, and the moon cycles in a way anyone (even non-spiritual individuals) would understand. This book goes great in correlation with “The Women Who Run With Wolves”! Such a great, easy read. I will definitely share it with my friends!
and Hysteria in 1692 Salem - The Witches :: The Witches Of Enchanted Bay (Witches Of Enchanted Bay Cozy Mystery Book 1) :: How to Hang a Witch :: Murder Of A Werewolf (A Brimstone Witch Mystery Book 1) :: True Story of the Vampire Rapist and Serial Killer

I absolutely loved this book...she made me feel alive...and I found my self just unable to put it down. I felt that she is family when I was done and I went a rad it again. I shared it with my daughter and she now understands my passion. and she now has the same understanding for her new family and herself.

This book was recommended in a facebook group so I knew it would be good. And, still, I was very happy with my purchase. A spiritual seeker for many years, this book has greatly enhanced my spiritual life. Lisa Lister opened me to new & ancient perspectives with some straight talk, humor and love. I would recommend this book to any woman traveling any spiritual path with an open heart.

An amazing read. Really connects with you. I liked how it was about empowering women as witches but not taking away power from anyone else eg men or non witches, but showing us that we can break free of suppression by being our witchy selves.

I loved everything about this book. I found myself laughing every time I would learn something new, because intuitively I already knew them. Lisa helped me remember the innate power that is within me. In a world that is trying to silence me, Lisa just helped me get my power back.

I can't recommend this book in good conscience. The author's pain is self-evident, and it is painful to read about what she perceives as empowerment. She is unapologetic (well, that's what she says) for being blatantly rude in public, as well as for her thinly-veiled distaste for men.

I can agree with her that we don't all have to share opinions of the definition of "witch." However, I would never want anyone in pain - or someone who's looking to discover herself - to read this book. I can't see positive change coming out of it. If wounded individuals read it and come out angrier because of it (which is probably what will happen), and use that anger to grow past the thing that pains them so (and past the point the author seems to have come, so far, with her own anger), then I can say perhaps it could do some good, indirectly.

But hear me: If you're a fledgling looking to find your path, please look elsewhere. The story between these pages is dark and twisted. I will not ask you to follow the Light, because that's not what it means to be human. But look to better yourself, to gain knowledge, and to grow, as with any vocation or calling. The one that's encouraged in this book will not help anyone.

If the author ever asked me for a critique of her philosophy, I could only answer with this: Do not focus on the faults of the Establishment. Do not place blame on any one demographic of people for your miseries. Find what is broken in the world around you, and you will learn that in service of those injuries, you will find contentment and even true happiness. The path you are teaching only breeds more contempt.

And if I thought she could handle one last thing, I would kindly tell her to get over herself.

A beautifully written, eminently readable book that manages to be both inspiring and comforting. You'll want to share with all your friends and start a coven, or a book club - same difference, right?!

Literally couldn't get through the intro. It was actually really pissing me off, which has NEVER happened with a book or anything else like it. So of course I can't speak to the rest of the book, but I can only assume you will enjoy this book only if you are already 100% like-minded with the author, and enjoy the word 'pussy' every two sentences. From the first few sentences of the intro you could tell that the author was already pitching her other books. She may as well have been running around the streets with a protest sign from the way she was writing. So strange. For the life of my I can't understand feminists who put down other females who may not agree on everything, but that's exactly the 'vibe' I got from this book. I should have listened to my friend who is an actual WITCH and not a 'pussy power witch' and not even bothered.

This is a horrible book. The writer rambles on and on. There is no story. It more love a sermon, get in touch with your inner witch. It is repetitive and foul at times. Wish I could get my money back on this one.

For a book that constantly states what kind of witch you are or where you came from doesn't matter, this author sure loves to brag about how she's a hereditary witch. Also loves to remind you they're NOT Wiccan every few pages....you know, not to "offend" the traditionalists. Waste of time, mostly immature, one sided, and super feminist. skip it.

Some of the lengthier one-star reviews summed the issues of this book really well, so I won't spend a lot of time here. As a witch just starting their path, I picked up Witch because he back of the book promises a whole lot about learning some of the fundamentals. Unfortunately, that little bit of useful knowledge (all of which I could easily find with a Google search) was padded with a bunch of bragging and pseudo-feminist nonsense.

While I totally believe witchcraft is a powerful way to take back your power as a marginalized person, Lister totally alienates anyone who isn't a woman and fetishizes the female reproductive organs. In fact, there are some outright disturbing and insensitive lines in this book that are written in the name of "empowerment".

If you believe in intersectional feminism and actually want to learn a thing or two about witchcraft, this is NOT the book for you.

If you're looking for a book that covers anything and everything related to the term "witch", this isn't it. This shouldn't be confusing as the title of the book makes no such of a broad claim anyway. And even in the intro before you dig in to the broader narrative Lisa explains her version of what witch means, how it relates to the woman's body, etc. Yet choo choo here comes the outraged train of people claiming this book is transphobic, etc because of the way Lisa unpacks HER experience and knowledge as it relates to the female body and empowerment of such. How can people give this book 1-2 stars for it not being the book it never set out to be in the 1st place?? It would be like me buying an Italian cook book then writing a 1 star review complaining there were no Mexican recipes in it.

So yes, it is cis gender focused but there is a lot of good, empowering information packed in this for those who relate to such. Not everyone relates to everything, that's just how life works.

If you are looking to get specific information on the topic of witchcraft, and you're only interested in reading about ideas and practices which match up with your own, then you probably won't like this book. However, if you like to go into a book with an open mind so that you can glean new ideas and expand upon your intelligence and wisdom, then you're going to love it.

Lisa is not a woman about rules, or step-by-step processes. Neither is she a woman who will completely and unquestioningly accept any general idea, be it rooted in mainstream society or mainstream witchery. Rather, she is a rare and wise woman who lives from her heart and soul. She doesn't blindly accept ideas or do practices as she's told. She feels things out. She tweaks, and changes, and omits as she feels it is necessary. Her ideas on women and patriarchy will certainly meet criticism from people, but I'm gonna tell ya, that criticism has nothing to do with Lisa and the ideas she shares. That's about the ideas and the beliefs of the person doing the criticizing. And you know what? That makes it an even BETTER read. Because every time a thought makes you recoil, it's a chance to explore what it is within you that is so resistant to this idea. Pondering that doesn't mean you'll necessarily agree with Lisa. But it does mean that you'll have a stronger understanding of your own ideas and beliefs with women.

Honestly, I was destined to read this book. It was no accident that a neighbor brought it to my attention. I was meant to read it. It woke up a whole new part of my soul, and it provoked a whole new path and series of life events that is just f#*king magickal.

Reading this, it was blatantly obvious that Lisa was called upon to write this. Actually, there were times where I could feel that Lisa alone wasn't writing it, and there were very strong and spiritual forces coming through her. These ideas were meant to be delivered into today's world to help transform the collective consciousness. If you're reading my review and you're thinking I sound insane, then you're not ready for this book or the other greats. But if you can read with an open mind and open heart, you'll see that this book has a special purpose. And it will leave you changed forever.

It's Transphobic Trash, Budapest, thrown out as a TERF from Pantheacon would be pleased with this sh.t
Don't buy, don't teach this stuff to the new generation, buy Book of Shadows by Phyllis Curott for instance anything but this disgusting book. Buy it only if you are into hate and transphobia

I was really excited during the first part of the book because it sounded like a real call to action. However, as the book went on, it was clear that she was just superficially pulling in themes from leading feminist thinkers. Also, the book is clearly geared for white people, and more specifically people based in Northern Europe. >90% of everything she mentions in terms of tools/herbs/holidays/etc. are specifically European but she makes the claim they are universal somehow. I live in California. Forget the seasons and finding an elder tree. She would have done a lot better to have listed the qualities or reasoning behind why things are chosen. And a good chunk of the book is her listing off magical items and celebrations (from Europe) that you can find in any of the popular witch books for beginners.
