Cory O'Brien strikes gold in this book. What you get once passing through the hilarious and cheeky table of contents is a collection of iconic myths, as told in a modern vernacular akin to posts you would find on websites such as Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook. These gods feel like average Joes, making their tales like episodes on a sitcom. It is a good read for those with a love for myths and a sense of humor to match.

Pretty funny book, but when the author tries to explain African (very generalized) Native American, and American myths, some of the jokes just felt flat and not as funny, due to the myths not having as much background. Wouls still say its worth a read.

This book is hilarious. I would recommend it
to people who enjoy mythology, but can laugh at its absurdities. Definitely not for kids, but adults who have their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks will love it.

Myths are insane and these retellings are hilarious. You should buy this book and read it.
Now that we've got the important stuff out of the way let me talk about why I think they are so funny: it reads like someone is excitedly gushing about his favorite thing in the whole world. As a geek I love geeking out and getting excited about things and that's what this book feels like. Ancient history and mythology delivered in the same voice of a sports fan recounting a last second win or a scientist relaying some great discovery. It makes you feel happy to be around something that is so clearly a labor of love.
And it's very accurate! Seriously though, buy it. Read it. Laugh.

Gets a little repetitive after a while, but an awesome bathroom book-- the early chapters are either the funniest, or I just read them before I got all accustomed and jaded. Hilarious, regardless, highly recommend.

If you like mythology even the slightest and have a good sense of humour then this is the book for you. I spent the majority of my reading time thinking the storries couldn't get any more bizzare but was allways proven wrong with the next civilisation. American myths are a tad bland but the rest will have you laughing your pants off.

This modern take on classical myths is hilarious and let's people understand these stories with greater context.
It's hilarious and I suggest everyone try reading one myth aloud to others and see if they don't fall over laughing.
