After You (Second Chances Series) (Volume 3)

OMG, this book was awesome. This was my first by Stephanie Rose so I wasn't sure what to expect. I am so glad that I decided to read this. I can't remember the last time a book made me feel so much. I balled right along with Ellie, completely understanding her desire to never fall in love again. But at the same time, I was rooting for Nick and hoping he had the patience and perseverence to get through to her. What a truly amazing love story. I am now a Stephanie Rose fan. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it.

Stephanie Rose has this amazing ability to completely destroy you, in every sense of the word, with her words. My heart was removed from my chest, broken, stomped, sliced, and trampled, before there was even a hope for it to be put back together. You feel everything in this book, and I am so glad I was able to voluntarily review this masterpiece. And it is wrapped up in such a beautiful way that leaves you thinking about the characters long after you have closed the book. Just incredible and highly worth reading.

Where to begin!? First, I was already a huge fan of Stephanie, but this book makes me a mega fan!! I cannot wait to see what you do next. Each book outdoes the one before.

Second, I was worried I wouldn't buy into the Ellie and Nick romance because my heart broke when Ellie lost Jack. I felt that love, and I wasn't sure I could get over it, let alone read about Ellie getting over it. I was glad this took place years later, and I felt that the transition from grieving widow to head-over-heels in love was remarkably well-written.

Just the synopsis gives me goosebumps!! This should be on the top of everyone's must read list for 2017!!

a chance meeting at a wedding reception and then meeting 5 years later at cub scouts find Ellie and NIck in a friendship that leads to romance after Ellie gets over her fears. Their eventual love story has you wanting more of Nick, who is quite possible the swooniest of Stephanie Rose's characters. This book was absolutely amazing and I didn't want it to end. I know when her name is attached to a title then it is a guaranteed great read because she is an amazing author!

After You is a standalone in the Second Chances series and if you've read Only You, you'll recognize some of the characters, though this story can be read and loved completely on it's own. Ellie had her chance at happily ever after but it was ripped from her far too early. Now she's focused on raising her young son and trying to bury the loss that surrounds her. That is until she meets Nick. Nick makes her think and feel things she doesn't feel like she should feel.

This is such a sweet and sexy second chance story. Nick had his work cut out for him in trying to win Ellie over. As always Tracy Marks did an excellent job with narration. Jack Jr. was such a cute little boy and grew up into a wonderful man.

I really enjoyed the other books in this series so when I saw there was a new one I had to read it. I loved Jack's character in Paige's story (as heartbreaking as his storyline was) so I was excited to read Ellie's story. It's frustrating and predictable at times...I think that's somewhat how it had to be. Loved Nick (who doesn't love a sweet, hunky firefighter) loved the epilogue. Overall a satisfying conclusion to the series.

Wow!!! Amazing read!! I love love this book from the beginning to the end. Also this book is an ugly cry book. My heart broke on some parts of the story. Jack, Ellie and Nick, my aged, these characters are amazing and I was easily get attached to them. The story, it's amazing. I love how Ms. Stephanie did an amazing job on this book. Everything is perfect! Loved it!

Beautiful and amazing book. It's has angst and sweet romance. This story will have you feeling all sorts of emotions. I was hooked from the beginning. I enjoyed the banter and hot chemistry between Ellie and Nick. I loved the connection Nick and Ellie's son share. I love reading about the journey to healing and learning to love again. This a great read! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Emotional heartwarming story about Ellie's life and her will to move on after her beloved husband's Jack death and raising her son as a single parent. Nick is a very hot lovable fireman who wanted Ellie from the time he laid eyes on her at a mutual friends' wedding....really loved this second chance at love romance...I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book in exchange for an advance readers copy..

Overall Opinion: Unfortunately, this didn't meet my expectations. I love stories with second chances and especially with children involved, so this seemed like a winner for sure -- it just kind of felt...meh *shruggs*. I was easily distracted and often bored while reading this, so that right away tells me it didn't work for me. The h started really bugging me, so that too was a sign I wasn't all that into it. I'm sure lots of people will love this book, as it is a relatively easy read with some sweet and sexy times ;)

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Ella and Nick's story. They meet for the first time at a friend's wedding, but Ella's husband had only passsed away one year prior to that and she wasn't ready to even consider dating. 5 years later, they meet again when Nick is her son's scout leader. They dance around each other a good bit, but finally give in to give dating a shot. There are some sweet moments with the h's son, some sexy times, and some dramatics...and they do get a HEA.

POV: This alternated between Ella and Nick's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. I never skimmed, but it definitely felt slow at times where I was tempted to.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 3.5 stars. Nick. I liked him, but I was upset by him projecting things from his previous relationship onto this one.

h rating: 2.5 stars. Ella. She was ok, but she started to really frustrate me with her pushing away the H.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes, but not in the typical sense.

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Closure: This had good closure with a HEA ending.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

This was a really beautiful love story. I enjoyed the pace of this book and how moving the characters were written. The romance between the two main characters was so beautifully written and I enjoyed all of the secondary characters too.
Definitely a five-star rating, the epilogue at the end blew me away with the dialogue, the whole book was exceptional.

I really wanted to see Ellie happy after losing Jack. My heart hurt so bad for her losing the one person she has loved all her life. Nick was the perfect guy for her. It wasn't an easy road but I can imagine it wouldn't be. Survivors guilt, and guilt about moving on. I hurt for her and I wanted to poke her with a stick at the same time. LOL

I ugly girl cried several times during this book. Don't let that put you off. If an author can make you "feel" what's written, then they've done an excellent job. This was my first Stephanie Rose book...will definitely NOT be my last because while I cried during parts, I didn't want it to end. The hours I got lost with Ella-Jane and Nicholas-Patrick were well spent.

I absolutely loved this book! It gutted me at times and made me laugh and cry... this book came with all the feels! I feel like Stephanie's writing is only getting better and better with each book, which says a lot because her first book was amazing too. I loved this book!! I wanted to savor it, but I couldn't help but devour it page by page.

I appreciated the story needed the angst. In many cases, the angst is over the top and is just a tool to make the characters suffer.

In After You, the characters suffered lose and we saw them deal with it in a believable way. It fir the story and made it much more emotional.

I'm still getting my emotions in check. This book will pull all kinds of emotions out of you. It's heartbreaking, gives hope, & shows love. It really hit home for me. I was in a similar situation and everything she was feeling was what I was feeling at the time. Will love win? This is a very well written book!

Have the tissues ready. This is tied with Finding Me as my favorite in the series. I loved the chemistry between Ellie and Nick and how much he loved Jack. Sometimes I wanted to scream because they were so stubborn but in the end it all worked out. I'm really going to miss this series. I wish Jack wouldn get his own book.

I have loved every book in this series, and After You is no exception. Nick has a heart of complete gold. And his persistence to get the girl eventually paid off. This story is full of heartache, passion and LOVE. So much love. If your looking for a heartfelt story this is the one! Get your tissues.

This book has truly left me speechless. This was the most beautiful second chance romance that pulled on all my heart strings. Stephanie Rose has a writing style that pulls you in and completely captures you and you feel the love spilling from the pages.

I don't normally read books that have huge emotions attached, but I'm so glad I read this book. Now I need to go read the others in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. #MSBB

Decent story about a loss love. Ellie found love at a young age and lost it too. Her husband passed away of leukemia leaving behind Ellie and her son. He was her first love and his lost was hard for her to overcome. Then a firefighter with a big heart entered her life, Nick. He awoken feelings in her she thought she would never feel again. Although, initially reluctant to let someone new into her and her son's life the pull nick has is just to much to reaist eventually he breaks down her walls. Nick is a patient, kind hearted man who falls for Ellie and loves her son just as much. It was a sweet story.

Stephanie Rose's writing just keeps getting better and better. I fell in love with this second chance romance for Ellie and Nick and you will too!!! Nick is by far my favorite male character that Stephanie has written (sorry Lucas and Owen) and he and Ellie's chemistry are off the charts!!!! The story line was well written and had me captivated the entire book. I can't wait to see what the next story is from this author - she rocks!!
