Any book by Jonathan Kellerman is always my first choice in authors. The way he weaves in the description of the type of clothing that his characters and he is wearing just gives the reader a little of a break from any sordid part of the book ..

I just got through Reading this book. Alex certainly has a great mind to figure all the things out and come up with the guilty ones. I read it in record time because I was so interested to find out the ending. Anyone that likes mysteries should read this.

Wanted to start at the begining with this author/series so it was definatly a dated book, looking for phone booths, talking about the internet like it was something new. Story line was good, characters were good. Would recommend.

The Alex Delaware series is always a good read. I will say I was trying to buy a more recent one and because they "republished" the original novel the publishing date led me to believe this was a recent one. I had alreay read this one!

This detective story is not afraid to take a moment to discuss the psychological aspects of characters and to let the hero have a private life. The story is disturbing, but it seems all too possible.

Perhaps I can illustrate my thoughts on "When the Bough Breaks" this way. I read a lot and so sometimes I have to search for books I have not read by known authors. It turns out this is the second time I have read this book. I bought it this time because I did not remember the story from the preview. As I started to write this review I had to go back and review the preview to remember the story. So I would classify this as an ok read but not at all memorable.

Reread this recently, and forgot how much I had enjoyed it the first time. I was totally hooked again, and began rereading them all, in order this time. Love the dynamics of Alex and Milo's relationship, and how the two of them solve the crimes!

The beginning character-building dragged and it was difficult to eagerly look forward to the rest of the story. It did not grab you from the start with excited anticipation. The characters spoke just like the narrative, with detailed and seemingly pre-planned speeches: lengthy sentences, complex vocabulary like a news reporter or a congressman at a filibuster, detailed and well organized composition. Frankly, it was difficult to distinguish the conversations from the extremely well-written narrative (which could be easily attributed to an educated counselor). The plot was boringly predictable as one bad guy was revealed regularly and then added to the "I'm gonna come and getcha" list.
