Gives a fascinating insight into her life as a person with Autism. Temple Grandin talks about the people and animals that have come in and out of her life. They helped her understand things and grown into the person she is today.

If you have any questions about Asperger's or high functioning autism, read this book. Temple Grandin provides an insight that I have never thought about before. Her squeeze machine is amazing and her understanding of animals was revolutionary to the cattle industry.
A great book!

Asperger's is very poorly understood. I speak of my personal experience. As she says in her updated notes, not all think in pictures. I am one. It seems to me that the apparent brain defects that cause Asperger's leave people in groupings of problems, They can and should be classified. This would greatly facilitate understanding, diagnosis and treatment.

As someone who works with children on the autism spectrum I find all information from someone living on the spectrum a great help in understanding the behaviors of those children I work with. Temple Grandin is a wonderful inspiration and I have loved all her books. Get this and read it and build your understanding of those who "think" in a different way and "speak" sometimes with a different voice (behaviorally).

Temple Grandin writes of her life with Austism in a wonderful way...she explains the difference between how she thinks and how others think. This is how my grandchild explains how she thinks, so the book helps her to feel a bit better about thinkiing in ways others don't understand. Great book!

I have no connection with autism. This book was recommended to me because I cannot think in pictures; my mind works with ideas and words. Temple Grandin has written a book about a way of thinking that is so alien to me she might as well be from a different planet. Absolutely amazing. I did not know that the world could be seen from this perspective. This book has changed the way I try to see the world. No TV program or lecture will cause you to shake your head in bewilderment like this book.
Temple Grandin is the Helen Keller of the 21st Century. Only her words can describe the world she lives in. Or maybe pictures.

Outstanding, eye opening and informative. The authors' life is not only interesting but thought provoking. I admire her dedication to making her life count as a positive influence on the people, animals, the earth, and the universe. I not only gained insight into the challenges of people who seem so different from the norm but I have gained an appreciation for their potential and for their innate value in the realm of human experience.

This is important work and should be read by anyone who has an autistic person in their life, even if just a peripheral friend or relative.
We waste far too much talent using labels that seem to stigmatize intelligent, but 'different' kids.
Historically many of our most brilliant artists and scientists would today be labeled Aspergers or High functioning Autistic.
Our educational system can do much more to help prepare these kids for a productive, useful life.

I have long been interested in autism, but had not read any books by anyone who actually is affected by autism. Temple Grandin's book "Thinking in Pictures" lets the reader into her mind to see how the mind of an autistic person actually works. The book is very well written and really informs the reader about how some people's mind works differently than others.

The interesting part for me was getting inside the autistic brain about how they think. For instance, when she wanted to go outside, she would say dog. The reason for this was because the dog would go out. And also, she went on with explaining how and why she became successful in her work because autism is different for those who have it, the part of the brain that is affected. Some
e autistics are exceptional in certain areas, such as math, piano players, etc. I found it very insightful and an interesting read. No, i dont know anyone with autism, the subject just interesed me.

A little scientific at times. The movie was better, but having watched the movie, it was interesting to get a little more depth and detail. Without having watched the movie I am not sure I would have enjoyed the book as much.

Temple Grandin just lectured at our local college and was very inspiring. She spoke about thinking in pictures, a concept I still find difficult to grasp, but find very interesting. This is her book about it. I highly recommend it!

This book was extremely interesting. It gave me a great deal of insight into my son's thinking processes. Temple explains very clearly how she thinks and what goes on in her mind when she makes associations about things she sees or hears. I would recommend it to any parent, grandparent or teacher of high functioning autistic. I'd love to hear her speak!

This woman is absolutely amazing! Her writing has a little different rythm to it at times due to her autism, but her intelligence, breadth of knowledge, and ability to express herself and describe some of the experiences of autism change your whole understanding of the disorder, and brain organization in general. I would highly recommend anything she has written, and am excited that HBO has made a movie about her!

This is well-written and helpful in understanding a variety of life issues from the perspective of a person with autism. Highlighting differences and their benefits rather than focusing on the idea of a 'disorder' is refreshing.
