This has elements I really liked, in particular a woman who is an engineer and recognised the value in a second start. However I grew frustrated by such an intelligent woman's self doubt and inner dialogue.

Thank you Ms. Cole for a historical romance with substance. This book has it all: Smart, beautiful and kind heroine, handsome, intriguing hero, interesting side characters and a well-constructed plot. The descriptions just added icing to a tasty, rich pastry. Enjoy.

My sister is into the regency romance novels so when I was offered this book in exchange for an honest review I decided to try them out. The book was a good read but was somewhat predictable which to be honest I don't necessarily have an issue with. All in all good book that was an easy read.

This is a good offering from the 'historical' spy fiction that is becoming more and more popular. It's comparable to some of the stories of William Le Queux. The story is well paced, and the plot believable (no need to suspend logic too much!). It will be interesting to see where this series goes.

If you enjoy intriguing story lines with your love story, this book will not disappoint. I have always been fascinated with history which is why I like the history based stories. Don't remember the Zodiac group so will have to look into that. I really enjoyed this book.

A very good historical romance, with intrigue and secrets of the British military included in the tale. A beautiful young woman who has a mechanical aptitude and a family of servants that may be just this side of the law, are all part of this story.

I loved it because I rarely read about the England/France of the Napoleon days much less a lady who has engineering
talents two hundred years ago. I did enjoy it and even got up in the middle of the night once to read a chapter.

Very intriguing read! It combines the elements of mystery and romance. The plot has many twists and turns, and sometimes you can guess where it's leading, but there are a lot of surprises. Very enjoyable!

Overall, despite the author's attempts to create a slightly different kind of Regency Era heroine, I found this book a slow and tedious read. She's an engineering genius hiding behind a male pseudonym, he's a spy hiding in the persona of an impoverished English lord and neither of them is terribly interesting. To be perfectly honest, I can't put my finger on what the problem is except that I found it dull.

It got two stars because I finished it, not because I enjoyed it.

Frothy regency story about a heroine with an interesting vocation and a lord with an interesting avocation. And no recency novel is complete without a villain threatening the heroine. Enjoyable easy read with an enjoyable pace.

Elizabeth does know how to put the characters and their activities in the story line together. Drama, action, romance twisting things around often making you feel like you are right there. Good story

I enjoyed this book because the heroine was smart and knew her own mind. She made sound decisions but also learned a few new things about herself. I wish there would have been more romance. Not physical romance, but more courting. Otherwise it was a great read.

A wonderful premise for a plot. The characters and the narrative captivates the reader into the intriguing mind of a brilliant heroine and approving hero. Well done. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will look forward to more from Elizabeth Cole.

This was a different kind d of romance/mystery. But it still tells stories of how women were treated before the latter part of the 20th century. If you love history and do also g with a little mystery then this is your book.

Cordelia, independent smart a ship engineer designer but she's a woman. Sebastian is an Earl. But he's also more. Intrigue, mystery romance. What's not to love? A little risqué. Could have done without.

I really enjoyed reading this book . I didn't have high expectations for this book to start with it. I have never read any of EC books so didn't know what to expect. She did a great job and I will read another one of her books.

I enjoyed this book. The heroine is a strong female in the early 1800's in England. The secrets she keeps have caused her to become a spinster at 27, LOL. Through the book you find many other's are keeping secrets, but that is England and how the aristocracy was at the time. The book keep me up to finish and I would recommend it for it's quick read and enjoyable background of England.

This book is filled with heart and surprise and intrigue and some romance too. I could relate to the heroine who was beautiful inside and out. She is very independent and insists on doing things her way, on her own, but finally admits she can love and live with the right man.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading A heartless Design by Elizabeth Cole! Full of danger, intrigue and romance in a setting where women were considered merely property and one woman's ability to go against the odds.

Who wouldn't love a strong heroine who just happens to fall for the hero..... Well developed characters in a well written novel full of interest and everything one typically looks for in a historical romance.... Very well done!

This book had my attention from the start. Found it almost impossible to put down. The storyline refreshingly veered from the usual. It has me looking forward to the next book the series because it left some unanswered uneasiness.

The book was a treat to read. Historical romance stories are my favorite books . This book gave us a little more than just the normal writings of women and their strict rules of conduct that applied to their era. Along with suspense and romance I was really entertained!! Y'all read and enjoy!!!!! JJ

This is a great spy novel where the unexpected turns. The setting is wonderful he displayed as being in the first part of the 19th century in England. It does have a happy ending although one has doubts until the very last!

I quite enjoyed the story. It started out great and was detailed and flowing smoothly. Then hit sections that glossed over, were rushed, and didnt flow at all. :( Dissappointing but a good story overall.
