My 2-year-old loves the bright and busy illustrations in this book. I love that there's something here for all ages. My 8-month-old and 2-year-old enjoy pointing out things in the busy illustrations, while my 8-year-old enjoys learning pretty sophisticated facts about the solar system. In fact, dad and I learned a few things reading this book! Definitely recommended.

Colorful and exciting pictures that our baby loves, filled with information, plenty of words on each page! Highly recommend this book about the solar system! High quality material.

Will be purchasing Jill McDonald's other books on weather and backyard bugs.

Beautifully done and a great intro to babies and toddlers about our solar system. The artwork is fantastic. Inaccaruate as it includes Pluto as a planet. I really like the hello World Series for my baby.

Great book excellent detail. My only gripe about this book is that it includes Pluto as a planet the book. Just to let everyone know. Pluto is NOT considered to be a planet anymore. Small detail but those kinds of science facts should be updated in these books.

We greatly enjoyed this book. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews regarding Pluto because the 2016 version we own does include Pluto but very clearly states that it's a dwarf planet. It's true that the text is not particularly inspiring (and it doesn't rhyme) but it serves the purpose well. The smaller items of text do not need to be read every time, and I'm guessing those who complained about this are not accustomed to reading non-fiction books to their child. The reading level here is appropriate for the infant to toddler level, which is what this book is marketed towards. McDonald really shines in the illustrations, though, which is where a very young child will find most of their interest in the book. Next time we buy board books I will definitely keep the other books in this series in mind.

Maybe I just have higher standards than others, but this book is a disappointment. My husband and I love space and want to pass the interest onto our son. But this book is really poorly written. There's no rhyme or meter. The facts are random and sporadic. There's also this awkward arrangement of large facts and then tiny facts just sprawled across the page, that sometimes you can't even tell what order to read them. Like the Sun page that someone else photographed. It says "In the daytime we see the sun. It is the center of the solar system. Let's learn about all the planets that travel around it. The sun warms the earth." That's nonsensical. Let's learn about the planets? The sun warms the earth. I know it's just a baby book but there seems to be no thought into the actual writing. I've given two stars because the artwork is lovely.

(Also, technically the Sun isn't even the center of the Solar System. Jupiter being the stormiest planet doesn't make sense. Plenty of other planets have massive, violent storms. So I really don't get what this book is trying to accomplish. It's like they only cared about the art and figured they had to have something to actually read, and just wrote down the first things that popped into their head.)
