This is the first volume in the Immortal Iron Fist ongoing story line and it is a pretty solid read. It introduces several key elements that come to fruitation in the isssues to come. You are introduced to the concept that there have been many Iron Fist and you are introduced to a handful of them. Fraction is the main writer in this story but he collabrates with Ed Brubaker who is a phenomanal writer and the one behind the current volume of Captain America. If you like Daredevil I would say you got to pick this up and even if you don't I highly suggest this.

If it is a choice between watching the Netflix series or reading the graphic novel the graphic novel wins hands down. Master storyteller Ed Brubaker and fan favorite artist David Aja bring you the definitive Iron Fist story. Highly recommended.

This volume was always building toward some big event. Unfortunately, the big event did not arrive. Guess I'll have to wait for the next volume.
A fun new perspective for fans of the Netflix series. However, the comic follows a path of its own.

Awesome read. Love the Ironfist history. A must read. Love the way they incorporate all the other heroes into one seamless story. My hats off to the writers. I thoroughly enjoyed this. If you are an Ironfist fan then you absolutely must read this one. Very long so you get your money's worth on this one.

The Immortal Iron Fist: The Last Iron Fist Story (2007) - Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction (Writers) David Aja (Artist)
As the title states, Fraction's run in this first volume is superior to Brubaker's... which I don't like admitting since Brubaker's Catwoman is still my single favorite series. However, Fraction, in my opinion, just understands the character a little better.
Overall, the book is a fun read, although it wasn't anything amazing. I am pretty sure that part of the reason why it didn't impress me as much as other readers is because I am not as familiar with the legacy and history of the Iron Fist character. In general, I am a larger DC fan than Marvel fan, so much of Marvel pre-2000's I'm not too familiar with. Either way, I would still have to say that the book is pretty entertaining, and it definitely has its share of very fun moments. For example, I particularly liked the Brooklyn Headbutt. However, the book only gets three stars because I just don't feel that there is anything special. The character development isn't amazing; I don't truly care for the character that much. The art by Aja is definitely a lot of fun, but once again, it does not blow me away. Therefore, I would have to conclude (although with a little bias due to my lack of familiarity with the history of the character) that the book is only a pretty good read. However, it is definitely at least good enough for me to recommend it.
