This is a thrilling movie about one mans fight and win to survive. He was NUTS to climb this mountain. He's a very lucky man. It's a great movie showing what being in peak physical condition can allow a person to survive. I would recommend ths movie to hikers and non hikers alike.

The story told by Joe himself is very well written, from his soul and mind, in a very well described story of survival, despair, humanity, and decision-making in matters of life or death. Real life can make for a great novel, but rarely it is transformed from the actual experience into a book or film in a way that touches the reader like Touching tha Void does.

I'm a mountaineer (have been in the American Alpine Club Journal for a first ascent of a 3 pitch mixed rock and ice climb on Mt Hood), and this book is my favorite out of all the many, many "armchair mountaineering" books I've read. It is written so vividly that it's more like watching a movie than the movie itself was!
Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 2) :: The Gray Wolf Throne (Seven Realms Book 3) :: Salvation in Death: In Death, Book 27 :: Ceremony in Death (In Death, Book 5) :: The Geography of Bliss

I thoroughly enjoyed Joe Simpson's compelling account of his struggle to overcome enormous odds, and survive what most of us probably would not. His and Simons honesty in recreating their actions and emotions for the reader, provoke self reflection, and the inevitable struggle with "what would we do", given the same circumstances.

This book is well written, very interesting to anyone who has been up on a Mountain in South America or elsewhere. I enjoyed reading this book as a recommendation I had from a British climber on our trip to Cotopaxi in Equador.

A well written book covering in detail the incredible story of surviving a severe accident high in unforgiving mountains. A must for climbers, and a great read for anyone interested in the power of the human spirit to survive.

An amazing read that outlines the physical achievement of mountain climbing, but with the incredible story of persistence and the will to live.
The author describes the loneliness and desolation of his experience, and quotes from all round out the story.
