What a testimony of dedication, faith and courage -- all from the life of a tiny little woman who followed God with all she had.
I loved reading this book! The only negative is that I wish it had been longer! I am going to share this biography with my grandchildren. This is a "real hero" story.

Gladys Aylward: The Little Woman is the true story of Gladys Aylward's life as a missionary to China.
A British citizen, Gladys leaves England to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the Chinese. Along the way she is met with life threatening obstacles yet she is delivered out of them all.
I first became aware of her story when I watched the movie, The Inn of the Sixth Happiness (1958) starring Ingrid Bergman. In the movie, she guides 100 children through enemy territory during the Sino-Japanese War.
The book tells the harrowing escapes and the miracles Aylward experienced as she went about telling the story of salvation to a desperate people in need of love and deliverance.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in history and missionaries who made a difference.

This tiny little story about a tiny little woman truly reset my mind about the things I face in America as a Christian. If you are looking for something to slap you in the face so that you can be grateful for the life you have and force you to get out of your comfort zone and spread the Gospel - here's your forceful hand!

I read this book after hearing about Gladys Aylward from Elizabeth Elliot. The book is a quick read and quite transparent in Gladys assessment of her faith and thoughts on when her faith was waning. I have favorite parts of the book and they center around the obvious strength that God gave her when she gave her will to the Lord. I read quite clearly that all the Lord needs is my willingness and He will provide my needs....not my wants always, but always my needs.

I had not heard of Gladys Aylward prior to reading this book but am so glad to have made her acquaintance. She did amazing things to advance the gospel in China and this book recounts a number of the miracles God used her to accomplish. The ruggedness of the terrain and the backdrop of war make her accomplishments even more remarkable. Highly recommended.

Great little read. I bought this book after watching The Inn of the Sixth Happiness, and wanted to know more of her story. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and the entire transaction. Arrived in great timing, and though I bought it used, it's in perfect condition! Would recommend to a friend. :)

This story of Gladys Aylwards life is very inspiring how God could used an uneducated woman to bring thousands to Jesus. The circumstances in China were very difficult but her heart was set on taking care of God's children young & old. She used every opportunity to tell people of God's love. Everyone needs to read this book!

Gladys' life was one that truly is a testimony to the mighty hand of God. She documents how she felt called, where she went and how God used her in this wonderfully, humbling book. It is truly inspirational to see how God was visibly moving and active in her life. It leaves a longing for a closer, more personal walk with God and a more sacrificial life lived for God. We've already ordered four more to give away!

This woman of God had an incredible life. We are going to use her life as a focus for our Ladies' retreat this year. She is a great example of faith, perseverance through suffering and bringing the joy of the Lord to those hungering for God's word. I would suggest this book as an inspiration to other Christian women.

This is a wonderful account of a woman totally devoted to her Savior, Jesus Christ. But more than that, it is a testimony of Almighty God's plan, purpose, power, and pleasure at work in individuals' lives. I laughed, I cried, and I rejoiced in the God of my salvation.

In several pages is told the story of a warlord who converted, was then held prisoner by his own men, escaped, found his way back to Aylward's inn, and knew that "I belong to Jesus" fully explained his life. I cannot adequately summarize this particular story; you have to read the version in the book, which itself obviously condenses a long story.
