Okay ... three books by Minka Kent & all are terrific! Each one has a different quirky main character who feels real. Minka's writing style is fresh & new & full of hairpin turns & surprise endings. Enjoyed all three & looking forward to more. All are well written, fast-paced attention grabbers. Hope Minka has another book in the works. I couldn't pick a favorite from her first three but maybe you can? Go for it!

I read "The Memory Watcher" from this author and loved it and was completely shocked at the ending. Could not wait to read this book and found myself in the same situation, completely shocked at the ending but also left with wondering who the crazy roommate really was. I only give this book 4 stars instead of 5 because it moved so fast that I'm convinced I missed something. Great fast read and I will read from this author again

This is a fast paced thriller that caught my attention in the first chapter.I was thinking chick lit until about halfway through when things abruptly changed direction and suddenly I'm reading a thriller. The plot is well-done, the characters well-written and the twist at the end, totally surprising. This is definitely an author I'd read again.

This was a great suspense book, full of twists and turns. This book kept me guessing throughout. I thought it was very well-written and the characters were well-developed. Meadow seems to be the victim from the beginning, but in the end she seems just as much of a creepy "perfect roommate" as Lauren was, while Lauren manages to partially redeem herself in the end.

Totally NOT what I expected when I got this book - somehow I thought there was some romance in ther...just FYI there is NOT. However, this was a shorter novel but the author (who was new to me) did a great job with the story. Kept me entertained and wondering what was going to happen next! The book was well paced and definitely made an impression on me. If you are looking for a thinker then this one will be for you. Recommend.

Meadow and Lauren are room mates. At first I wasn't sure what to make of these two. They are so opposite, but then they start to become friends and that's when things start going wrong. Meadow starts to change, and not really for the better. This is a wonderfully written story about how people can change and you never see what is happening before you. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from Hidden Gems.

The first line grabs you and you already start asking questions! The beginning is innocent enough: A girl urgently needing somewhere to live due to misfortune. She finds the perfect place and she makes new friends. But as the book progresses, little nuggets start to drop and things begin to make you ask more questions. And by the end... BAM! You never see it coming! A must read. This is my first book by Minka Kent and I'm a new fan!

Wow what a good twisty page turner. I recived this book from Hidden Gems to read and review. I haven't read anything from Minka Kent before and this book left me wanting to look for more. I really liked how well the characters were written and I felt like I knew them well. Meadow is a shy reserved young woman, Lauren pretty and vibrant. You won't believe how them living together works out.

The Memory Watcher was one of my favorite reads of 2017 and already I'm placing The Perfect Roommate at the top of my 2018 list. This is going to be a tough one for anyone else to beat. It wasn't at all what I expected - but in the best way. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Ms. Kent does next.

This is a well written book with an interesting plot. The characters and scenes are so well described I felt I was there. It's filled with twists and turns and enough suspense you can't turn the pages fast enough. The author had me hooked from start to finish. I loved this book and would highly recommend reading.

Fairly well written and some of the characters were well drawn, others, a little less so. She had me guessing from the start. Was the protagonist REALLY the "good guy" or was she not? Kept me guessing right up to the end. I guessed about 4 different ways this could end, but none of my guesses were 100% on. If you like a good mystery, check it out!

This was a very satisfying read...one of those books that you can't put down and end up reading all at once. While the story played out well, I found the Meadow character just a little too open to her new roommate's every suggestion. A good thriller, though, that caught me off-guard at the end.

The Perfect Roommate by Minka Kent is a full length , stand alone, romance novel.
All what Meadow Rain needed was a cheep room for rent. She's quiet and seems a bit weird for a 22 year old. Her new roommate Lauren is a mystery. What Meadow doesn't know is that she's been set up . What seems to be a common college romance turns into something else entirely. The book is full of twists and turns, I never saw them coming.
I liked the characters and the book was entertaining. I read The Perfect Roommate in one sitting and give 3,5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book! It was pretty different from the other thrillers I've read lately, so I enjoyed that aspect. It was a bit "out there" with almost everything that happens - has you thinking, "Come on, really?? That would NEVER happen!" But it was incredibly entertaining. And I actually didn't see the ending coming. That was a great twist. If you are looking for a quick, easy, entertaining thriller, this is a great choice!

This was a well written physiological thriller. Meadow is an unsuspecting girl drawn by the allure of being excepted, noticed and having friends. She is caught up in the crazy wirlwind of obsession without realising she is a victim of a carefully crafted plan that will make her the prime suspect in murder.
Excellent read

This is not your typical "single white female" story....this has a twist even i didn't see coming . The story is very well written the characters have depth and are believable. I like that the ending even has a little message...Almost like the story could lead to another.

You'll never guess which way this story will end. Plenty of twists and turns for any psych-thriller fan. These characters will get in your head and under your skin. I found it a quick enjoyable read, completed in the course of a few hours. Thank you to the author for the ARC to read and review. All opinions are my own.

I finished my first Minka Kent book yesterday, "The Memory Watcher" and was so struck by it that I immediately read this title. The book is very short. There isn't much action going on and the characters are underdeveloped. The twist is also a little lame. On to her next book hoping for better results!

I enjoyed reading this. It was highly intriguing and even though I thought I knew how it would all come out, the author did a great job of surprising me, which made for a very satisfying read. The highpoint of the book seemed a bit rushed to me, but I would recommend it to any thriller lover.

What an ending. This book held you in suspense the entire time. What is truly fascinating is that we have at one time or another been like the character, Meadow, or know someone who has become so infatuated with another person they will do anything to be exactly like them. Truly scary!

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to others. It’s usually difficult for me to find something that keeps me interested but this certainly did the trick! I couldn’t put it down and completed it in one weekend. The author keeps you guessing and still shocks you in the end! I love this author!

I loved the other two books from this author. This one is slow and teenie bopperish. No real plot. None of the characters have anything in them to like or root for.

Got this via ARC. Incredible book. Started reading it and never put it down until it was finished, which is very unusual for me.
I love Minka Kent's style of writing. It is timely and her characters are developed in depth. Also the twists and turns are compelling.

"I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book." I couldn't make heads or tails of this story at so many points. I didn't see any of the twists coming. I couldn't stop reading because I had to see what would happen next. A true psychological thriller...

Ending was a tad rushed, but otherwise this was a fantastic book! Plot not really believable, however. I loved the insightful descriptions of the superficial characters . Protagonist was one i could easily identify with. Will che c k out others by this author!

The Perfect Roommate is well written and thought-provoking. The character development is Minka Kent’s specialty as are her twisty endings. Be sure to pay close attention to details as you read it so you won’t be so shocked after reading the epilogue.

I really enjoyed the narrative voice. I found the main character to be funny, sharp with just the right amount of snark. I will agree with others that I thought the ending was rushed, but it didn't stop my enjoyment.

This story is fast-paced and really held my interest. I completed it in 2 sessions. It isn’t chock full of the suspense or twists which I’ve come to expect from this type of story, but it is well-written and kept me tuned in to find out what was going to happen... “just one more chapter” syndrome. I’ll definitely be checking into more books by this author.

A short and completely shocking thriller
I honestly didn't even see the twist coming
Great build - a couple scenes were a bit slow - the ending more than made up for that

Meadow is an ordinary college girl who needs a place to live. She works part time cleaning houses so she can't afford much. She finds an ad posted in the Tiger Paw Patrol for a roommate at 47 Magpie Drive. Thats where she meets Lauren and becomes her new roommate. There's twists and turns throughout the book that leave you wondering. Tessa is Lauren's best friend who in turn becomes friends with Meadow. Thayer is Lauren's overprotective and obsessive boyfriend. As you read the book, you think you know "who done it"; then you keep reading, there's a monkey wrench thrown into the mix, and then everything changes. You won't believe the ending!! Definitely worth reading!!

Easy read, the author writes well and the story flows... would have liked a bit more fleshing out of the details, it felt a bit rushed at the end and there was no powerful climax. But overall it was ok

Not my normal choice in reading, but I was surprisingly engrossed. Quick enough of a pace to move along nicely, without taking away from decently detailed story telling. Oddly enough (at least for me) I think I’d happily crack open another of this author’s stories and find myself equally caught up in its telling.

This story got me in right from the start, I kept getting the feeling that something wasn't right, but I wasn't given any clues as to what it was. This made me want to keep reading to see where all this was leading & what a surprise when the plot all came together. The epilogue was a little worrying, history repeating itself?
This story is well worth reading & I'm looking forward to reading more from this author
