Absolutely loved this read and had difficulty putting it down. Believable, evolving characters and a plot that forms at a steadily exciting pace that keeps you from predicting too far ahead. This was slightly reminiscent of Ender's Game in the best way. A great nod to the "idea" that humanity preys on itself in attempts for self-preservation. Hard to believe this was classified as YA. Well done, Bertauski. Hat off to you!

A well thought out story detailing the trials of young men given everything they want with a price tag too high to repay. Novel concept for those tired of the run of the mill thriller. Graphic abuse makes this tale suitable for Adults or older teens.

Good, fast-paced SF with colorful, believable characters and an unpredictable plot. I found it occasionally tricky to keep the minor characters straight and there were a few distracting proofreading mistakes, but overall a really great book. Highly recommended!

A very clever use of today's technologies. Reminded me of the boy-playland in Pinocchio, with a very big twist. Understood what was happening before the boys did, and still a great book. On to the sequal!

I loved this book! Everything flowed nicely and the characters were very easy to like and dislike. The world that the author created was very believable. A very awesome book and I would most defiantly read more from this author.

I really enjoyed this book. I just happened upon it while looking through the "High Tech" Sci Fi books, (my favorite category)...I loved the way it was written. I could not stop reading! I will definitely be reading more by this author.

"Foreverland" catches your full attention from the very first paragraph. This is one of those books that you just can't put down. And if you have to leave the story for a while you can't quit thinking about it.

I found the author to be effective in these areas:
1 -- Creating the world in which this story took place
2 -- Creating and consistently maintaining an eerie mood which was appropriate for this story
I found this book to be very disturbing for these reasons:
1 -- Sadism/Torture
2 -- Sexual intimidation of boys by men
3 -- Vulnerable children being "groomed" for abuse by adults
I found this book to be disappointing for these reasons:
1 -- Plot developments and twists were telegraphed from the beginning of the story.
2 -- There was excessive and ineffective use of story ideas previously developed by others. It is perfectly acceptable to adapt established concepts for use in one's writing, but in my opinion Mr. Bertauski did not do this very well. For example, Danny Boy is not Ender.
3 -- Character development was weak, with some major characters showing essentially no growth or changes.
4 -- Although I did not like the story, what was presented could have been presented more effectively with tighter editing. I believe that Mr. Bertauski was too wordy in many places. In some places where I thought the story dragged I skipped ahead quite a few pages, and I don't think I missed much.
A work like this will find its market niche, but I cannot recommend it for anybody. I particularly find it inappropriate for children and young adults.

the cover is beautiful
the beginning-creepy and unsettling- sets the right mood for the book
there is never a boring moment
the sense of creepiness throughout the book could be clearly felt and the scenes of the ordeal that the boys had to go through to reach Foreverland were my favorite.
I pretty much guessed what was going on halfway through the book-this was due to the fact that the target audience for this book is young adults.
the whole issue about who Lucinda was and whether it was "possible" was on shaky ground. Maybe it just needed to be explained further.
My favorite character was the sidekick because of the strength he shows in coming back & helping Danny Boy.
This is a really good YA novel-fans of the genre should give it a try.

This book really entertained me, more than I expected it to. My favorite genres are of dystopian/utopian/post-apocalyptic/fantasy, and this one was right up my ally. I recommend this book to anyone that likes that style of genre.

Something in this kept me reading it. It seemed that in some places in the book the author wanted us to know what was really going on while for the most part holding this to the end. Interesting characters although the old men were lacking in depth.

I bought this book because it was free, figured it'll be okay. I didn't touch it for months, not really wanting to read it. Then a couple days ago, I read it. Like the entire book in a day. It was amazing. The constant feed of information, while still giving you room to predict was... Can't think of a good adjective. The book is not another Hunger Games, it is, in my opinion, much better. The overall concept reminds me of Neil Shusterman's novels. This is one of my favorite books now.

I loved this book. Incredibly well thought out and written. I loved the alternate reality introduced in this story, working off the idea that we are not our human bodies or even stuck in our brain. Great story! Would love to see this story move into access of other or past lives .

This is a gripping story! I was constantly thinking "what the hell?!" and I NEVER lost interest! I agree with another reviewer that said this could be happening somewhere right now! There are very minor editing mishaps, but they absolutely do not take away from the story. The author classifies his works as young adult, but I think anyone would enjoy this. Give it a shot!

This book seemed to stretch the limits of a fictional reality. It shares many characteristics with the well known Matrix production, and, while well written, is original only to a point. It is still a good story, however, and worth the read.

It's a very predictable book.At the very beginning you know the main idea of the book.Story doesn't have an enigma and twists of the plot. The narattion is flabby. It looks like author wants to stretch the story for continuation. But it's a easy read and it was intresting enough to read to the end,but I don't wait for the second book.

I thought this was a great read, especially for the price ( I got it when free) but after reading, it's worth the higher price tag. Some editing/typo errors but didn't distract me too much from enjoying the thrilling ride. I really had trouble putting this one down! Lots of action kept me hanging on for what's around the corner.
