Suspend your disbelief and just go with it. If ghost stories are your cup of English Breakfast tea, you will love this very short, sweet book. The characters could be more deep and hopefully they will become so in subsequent stories. But for now, it's a great way to pass a couple of hours.

I would have to class this book as light reading. It flows effortlessly and is very entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I love the phantom cat and like that Ella isn't afraid if it. Her sister-in-law is Marcellus as is her brother. I hope you will continue writing stories in this series.

Storyline was funny sad and believable. I read a lot and look for plots storylines that I can get into this was one . Nice people throw in a ghost or two family&friends...a beautiful house becoming a home.

I have been looking for a new victorian mystery series and I'm glad that I found this author. Although this is a fairly quick read, there are plenty of details and interesting characters to enjoy. The touch of paranormal is a nice touch and is added with a deft hand. I've already downloaded the next book and will probably get through the rest of the series in quick order.

An Accidental Murder by Jacquie New
This is a tale of twists and turns as well as a few ghosts who seem rather friendly, one of them being a black cat, the other being a small girl.
Ella has bought herself a lovely little cottage near where her family used to holiday when she was young. Of course her brother Jerry and his wife Ginny want to hear all about it. Ginny surprises Ella by not only believing in her ghosts, but in being able to see them as well! I truly enjoyed this book so much that I've already read it twice right through. It was even better than the Miss Marple Mysteries I know so well and I think that is why I ended up reading it twice. I wanted to make sure of Ella and Ginny's spelling of their names but ended up reading again. I'm glad, as there are no more Miss Marple books but Jacquie New is young and has plenty more stories in her. I loved the whole storyline, cottage included. Can't wait to begin The Curse Of Arundel Hall, the next book.
I received a free copy of the book, but the review is entirely my own.

This is the first book in the Yellow Cottage mysteries and if the rest are as good as this it shouls be a grand series! Isobella 'Bella' Bridges has just purchased an island cottage outside London that has presented her with some unusual abilities and a rare companion. When a young girl follows Ella home from a questionable orphanage after she visits there with the shady man who runs it, Ella enlists the help of her brother Jerry and sister-in-law Ginny to get to the bottom of the goings-on there and Ginny brings in her godfather, known to them all as 'Uncle' Albert who is the Police Commissioner to help them. One of the biggest laughs I got from the book was when Ella introduces her companion and the girl to Jerry and Uncle Albert - good fun! An intriguing mystery, engaging characters and a touch of the supernatural - what a treat! This book was given to me but the review and opinions are all mine. Do yourself a favor and start this series!

Such a fun, entertaining read! Very much in the vein of Agatha Christie this book has plenty going on with the addition of some light paranormal characters which made it all the more enjoyable.
I love a good mystery and this is one of the best with plenty of details to keep the reader hooked and a very clever ending. Can't wait to snap up more in this series and J. New is definitely an author not to be missed.
I received an ARC from the publisher.

What an enjoyable read! Great characters, the story moves along nice and smoothly, a devious villain, entertaining all around. I plan on recommending this book to my friends. It's not a long read, and is a perfect story to read in a day.
I'm off to read the free little pre-book for signing up for the author's page.
I can't wait for book 2 of the series!

I read this book fourth because for some reason I thought I had already read it. I've read the first four now and am most pleased with this author and her imagination. I didn't think I'd like it at first because I thought the ghost portion would get in the way. That is not so. If you find some of my reviews end in the middle of a thought, it is because I can't figure out how to edit the reviews.

Woman moves to a quaint cottage she remembers going to when she & her brother were little. It's there that she realizes she can see ghosts starting with a ghost cat she named Phantom. While visiting her brother and his wife she is introduced to a man named Peter. What follows is a ghost & murder mystery for Ella to solve. I thought it was a quick paced, easy read. Looking forward to reading more in this series.
