This book was terrific from start to finish. I was annoyed I needed to do laundry and feed the family! I wanted to just read it through. The only thing better would be Jenny baking in my kitchen. This was a welll done story filled with very interesting characters. I’d enjoy spin-offs!

I always enjoy Hanna's Regency Romances...this is another with well-developed characters & storyline. The plot twists kept me engaged from beginning to end. I received an Advance Reader Copy & am voluntarily giving a review...can't wait for the next book by this author!

I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. I really enjoyed having common people being important to the story line. This author gave me several bad guys to give some suspense. Loved this book.

This review is voluntary. I received this ARC from the author free. I always enjoy Hanna's books and this is no exception. Will the duke overcome his near financial ruin? Will he cross the line of class for his true love? If you like romantic stories with some intrigue, you will love this book.

Well written holding reader’s attention and interest all the way to end. A story filled with perils — some overcome and others suffering the consequences. Many daydream of a better life. This story reflects the hope of better things and the disappointment of unfulfilled dreams. The two are intertwined making a very interesting read.

Liked the suspense of discovering whether the cultural dictates would win over true love or not. Interesting study in what people consider most important in valuing a person, externals or internal character values.

I wonder sometimes if this really happened that the rich would settle for a commoner. I would like to think so. That’s why I love reading stories from the 18th and early 19th century‘s or earlier this was a good read kept my attention and as always ended great.

What would cause one to call a duke 'broken'? And what constitutes a 'pure' lady? If you are a Regency reading fan, keep those pages turning. The characters in this tale have their flaws but find them minimized in the light of true love. This is truly a happily ever after tale!

I have read 3 stories, but had technical difficulty doing a review until now. I enjoyed all three. However, I think you use modern terms, like saying kids instead of children, which doesn't set the mood of a period piece, and you don't follow all the correct rules of punctuation. The storylines are interesting, though.

This book was absolutely fantastic! I fell in love with all of the characters...well, almost all of them. Hannah does an amazing job leading the reader into the time period. I will always buy her books!

Loved this story. Rags to riches for everyone, frought with love, honor and respect. Contingent the bad relative getting his just deserts, and the rich snob who thought she had it all figured out. Another great book by this author.

I love this story!! I am never disappointed by Hanna Hamiltons stories and characters, and this one was just superb. Jenny Barnett has dreams of becoming a pastry chef in a grand home. She is set to realize the beginning of a dream when she is asked to prepare the pastries for a ball being hosted by Thomas, Duke of Pemberton, and his grandmother Augusta. Then she is forced to withdraw due to an injury suffered by her sister as she cannot leave her parents bakery without much needed help. Meanwhile Thomas and his grandmother are in need of funds to replenish those stolen by his Uncle. He needs to find an heiress that he can love, BUT his heart has already been captured by Jenny, and he is trying hard to ignore the pull toward her, since it is rare that nobility marries working class and she of course has no dowry. How the story progresses with all the twists and turns as well as their best friends kept me reading straight through. I highly recommend this latest offering.
