The first chapter captivates you as you try to figure out how the Ghost mission will tie into being a first colony, then you can't put the book down. I found myself pushing through the chapters late into the evening because I had to know the outcome of each twist.

So the story is pretty good, the characterisation is a bit rushed, the dialogue is stilted and can be one dimensional. This story could do with a couple hundred pages. As a first in a trilogy it does not pull me into needing to read the other 2. It sets up an interesting introduction to the world, the characters and what they may be up against but fails to move past that in my mind. It reads like a pitch for a series but is only the promotional first episode or trailer. Even in that it does not quite grab you to want to watch the other episodes or the movie. That is why I wish there were more pages to flesh out the story. I am concerned that being only a trilogy there will be significant disappointment on my part as to what this story could have been. The only saving grace would be if they are more books to follow or the other 2 books are a lot thicker.

Genesis (First Colony #1) After the first 3-4 Chapters I almost put it down, just couldn't get into it but I thought that over 500 people can't be wrong giving it reviews so I kept going and around Chapter 4 things got interesting and a couple chapters later things took off and I couldn't put it down...read the rest straight through and have bought the rest of the series and am on the second book and love it. I wonder how many people the author lost over the first few chapters?
An elite group of soldiers get framed and an old CO Shanghai's some against their will and stows them aboard the first Ark leaving earth with 300,000 people in stasis. These are all scientists, engineers, farmers etc., and few security people to keep order but by consensus no professional military.....the best of the best ready to set up a peaceful government on a new earth. WHAT COULD GO WRONG? I wish I could tell you to start about a quarter of the way through but some of the background helps...just be ready for a great ride when the good stuff comes.
Iron & Blood (Expansion Wars Trilogy, Book 2) :: Behemoth: Rise Of Mankind Book 1 :: Points of Impact (Frontlines Book 6) :: Fields of Fire (Frontlines Book 5) :: Invaders (Invaders Series Book 1)

Excellent read. I enjoyed it very much. I like how the author keeps it somewhat simple in terms of the futuristic gadgets and sci-fi. Some authors try to go over the top and that makes it unreadable. Definitely want to see a sequel.

Well written and engaging! Threw some tropes on their ears yet kept to its core. Well defined characters and realistic relationships add just the right tensions to a plotline that takes the reader to the edge. Pacing on point! Recommended!

A fun little read. Not the best writing, but then again, what do you expect for 99¢? I’m a hard science fiction nerd and was pleasantly satisfied with my purchase. Hell, I may have even paid $1.50 for it. Not any more though.
