This author is a complete departure from my normal readings. This author introduced me to the thrill of Sci-fi / Space Opera's and I haven't looked back. This book is a bit of a departure from the massive space battles of the earlier works, but I enjoyed the balance this book was able to convey between the vast battles of space and the defense & fortification of the invaded planet. Keep em coming!

Dalzelle just gets better and better. His handling of the larger story arc while still keeping the focus on the human interaction is masterful. He reminds me, broadly, that great science fiction is simply stories of PEOPLE just in a different setting. Reminiscent of early Heinlein!

Always going forward with a intriguing and understandable story line, strong and real characters resolving far to real problems in interesting and innovate ways.
The characters are seamlessly connected to the reader and you can actual participate in there next move if never foreseen, but always predictable, this will end only with one hero.
Behemoth: Rise Of Mankind Book 1 :: Points of Impact (Frontlines Book 6) :: Fields of Fire (Frontlines Book 5) :: Artifact :: Genesis (First Colony Book 1)

Great characters, interesting story lines and excellent narration. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Captain Wolfe is a believable character and this series also has many other strong supporting characters.

All around great writing; strong character development; plot and writing that keeps reader engaged. One of the better writers in the space military science fiction genre.

Keep 'em coming, Josh.

The hero of the previous conflict, Captain Wolf, is drawn back into a fleet command following a new invasion of a human fringe planet by another species. Despite his gloried reputation and the backing of both the Federation President and the Fleet Admiral, he's assigned to a troop cargo ship - which really doesn't make any sense, and provided with an escort of ships to which he does not report and on which he has no authority - again nonsensical. His protege Captain Wright is sent on a mission of her own, escorting a diplomat to meet with alien envoys. Meanwhile planetside the marines face a much larger ennemy force through skirmishes meant as delaying action until the Fleet can deliver reinforcements. This book could do with deeper and richer characters, a more coherent script, a bit of humor, and more gripping battle scenes.

Like the rest of the series, loved this book, even more so than the previous, Given Wolfe was back on board a ship, although Wright is a good Captain Wolfe is certainly a more interesting character for me when on the Bridge of a starship.
