Mr. Walker manages to provide a few new twists to a classical story and he does not lose control of the few parallel strands he weaves, unlike most of those writers who unleash ten-installments series without actually having anything to tell. His writing style is fluid and he appears to me, non-native speaker, to write in flawless English (there is maybe a single "they're" which should be "their"). A pleasure to read.

John Walker highlights the strategy and tactics involved from different areas of a battlefield. From Infantry to Fighters to Capital ships. I really enjoy how he shows a more true to life interaction between characters in desperate situations

What a fun space opera. It starts after first contact, but we only get tantalizing hints of the intervention of the Alliance. I couldn't put it down and I really hope this new author continues to write (he has 100%of my support). Read this Book!
Points of Impact (Frontlines Book 6) :: Fields of Fire (Frontlines Book 5) :: Artifact :: Star Shroud (Ascension Series Book 1) :: Iron & Blood (Expansion Wars Trilogy, Book 2)

Author shows ability to write very well, but the plot was like a heavily censored government document. Where is this first attack against Earth the author repeatedly felt the need to mention, so the plot device of this massive ship called Behemoth warranted being built? There is usually another novel before that tells the story, could not find it yet author puts so little thought into the backround of the story he is building. Why is half the the ship crew a Gary Stue that can do almost anything, yet human tech is nearly on par with the attackers from the begining (that lack of backround on the first attack 3 years ago) and a ships doctor can cure amnesia in an unknown alien to save the day so quickly. Basicly, the writer had a thought but Michael Bayed the story with too much fast pace action like using explosions to cover up for lack of greater depth. He needs to slow down the pace, make the enemy tougher and humanity come out out as the underdog without a bunch of Gary Stue that are unstoppable like the Hulk cause the crew could do anything with little thought of the consequences as they won every time with little casualties.
