Beginner Fundamentals of Music and How to Read Musical Notation

A very straightforward approach that is easy to understand.

Keep in mind that just because you can tell one note from another doesn't mean you can just play any tune.
You still have to practice, practice, practice!

I wish I could get a hard copy to have handy. Using the IPAD is a pain.

Erich has a great way of teaching complex and simple music theory and has helped me go from a noise maker on my guitar to actually making some melodic sounds...the neighbors jump with glee!!!! So try it out, you wont regret it. I've read some reviews that say Erich's books are well written, well he's a guitar pro, instructor and producer of music, not a writer...read his profile. hahahaha. I imagine if I wrote a book about how to eat, it may not be well written, but you sure will know how to eat.

It was pretty simple and gives you a good foundation for learning how to read music. I still don't know where the notes on a piano are and stuff like that but looking at sheet music I definitely know a lot more than I did.

Erich explains the content of the book in easy to grasp terms in manageable segments. I play guitar and I'm learning piano but I've not tried to learn how to read music. With practice I hope to be as enlightened when one learns how to read the written word. Imagine the possibilities! Thanks Erich

This guy is a very competent teacher; whatever he chooses to convey he can and I never fail to walk away with a new skill or a piece of knowledge. The lessons contain embedded videos to see hear and read the lessons.

He's got a gift for teaching; he does everything but practice for you...since I don't have the funds to purchase his full guitar system at the moment, I thought the least I could do is give him some free advertising in exchange for all the great freebies.

Thanks Erich, fantastic book. This really has made sense of it all for me. I am progressing much further than I was and it is helping my playing. I have struggled in the past but as I go through this book the pieces are falling into place. Keep up the great work.

Erich has the talent of making you understand the most difficult concepts and moreover is able to motivate you to "keep going"!

Erich does more for music lovers by 0700 than most music instructors do in a lifetime. The book is quality instruction. You can't go wrong with his products and videos. If its got his name on it, get it.

Reading music is one of my least favorite areas in my guitar learning but Erich made it easier to understand with this book. The examples are short and to the point. A well written book and good to have on my iPad as reference material.

Lots of information. Would have liked to see more graphs or boxes for comparison concerning the different types of scales instead of many pages explaining each scale individually. I did enjoy to book and would recommend it to intermediate musicians.

Eric provides another part of the great mystery that is reading music. As a piano player for 13 years I'm very familiar with music notation. However that said there was stuff here for beginners and veterans alike. Five Stars!

This book is a great primer into reading music. The author explained it in an interesting and engaging way, not too dry, so it was a fun read. I wish it was longer, but this is just fundamentals, after all.

I play drums with a few accountance, my fustration is that they do not want to improve their playing skills by doing the little simple. Reading is fundamental for all aspect of life, not just scholar activities but also recreations and also professionals. This book will help a great deal, if only they would try to read it.
