Another reviewer said the book contained actions that are illegal, immoral and bad behavior. This is a book of fiction. The very definition of fiction is lies, concoctions, fantasy, etc.. I am pleased there was no vulgar language and no explicit sexual escapades. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book full of who-done-it surprises.

Okay for a Prime freebie but otherwise, very lackluster. I was pretty sure I had the "mystery" figured out by the second or third chapter, but I kept my breath held hoping I was wrong about it. I wasn't. So that was pretty disappointing. It's fast paced and keeps up your interest, but it's predictable and isn't doing anything new.

It is almost impossible to believe this is a "first" novel. It is spellbinding. The improbable story of two brothers, a horrifying past they share, and the tragic road their future travels. Plan on reading this to its finish.
Yes Mr. Farrell I eagerly await your next book. This one leaves some big boots to fill though!

my biggest issue was that I found all the characters difficult to root for. when the only character I feel anything for is a bit part (the LT), something’s off. it was hard to get into until the dominos really started toppling, & then it seemed like pretty much every twist had been so thoroughly telegraphed that none of them were surprises.

OMG! Just finished reading this book that I could not put down. So many twists and turns trying to figure out what brother was responsible for a murder (one a detective and the other one a forensic specialist) Or if is was someone else and they were being framed and were there more bodies to be discovered? Check it out!

I found it an entertaining read. I thought it was a tad hyper-masculine at times and stereotypical of males and what they want women to be like or how they expect them to act and react in stressful situations. It got better in the last quarter of the book and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a suspenseful story.

Decent read, the book kept my interest and moved along at a good pace. For me personally it was not an OMG type of book. The characters in the story were overall well written. It was the last couple of chapters when people were coming clean about their secrets and crimes and the very end of the book that I didn't care for.

(Spoiler) This book was engaging and I could not put it down. The only thing I did not like was the significant reduction in suspects pretty much spelling out who did it early on. There were still some twists and turns which kept it interesting right up to the end. And then the question turns from who to why.

I loved the opening paragraphs - I immediately felt like it was going to be a great read...and it was. I thought the characters were well developed, interesting but couldn't help but feel that I had read this before. Without giving too much away, as soon as one of the main characters was introduced, it was pretty well a given that they were involved in the murders. I enjoyed it and would gladly read the next book by this author but for me it was just another version of Gone Girl. I would still recommend it though because it was just different enough.

Wow. This book kept me guessing until the very end!! I read a lot of books and tend to enjoy them, but this one was excellent. I had my suspicions as to who the suspect was at first, but it just had me changing my mind constantly! It was definitely an enjoyable read. I will be looking for other novels from this author. The ending was wrapped up very well. I couldn't put this one down!

This is a fantastic, murder mystery that kept me guessing all the way to the end. Well written, loved the characters. You actually felt for the characters as the book progressed. Yes, there is some gore but I think that is expected in a murder mystery. The story was weaved in such a way that you weren't sure of anything until the last few chapters & then you get a surprise at the end. Highly recommend

I love a good suspense book with flashed out characters. This book has out in spades. The author did his research on Criminal investigation and police work. The background of Liam's family is a gripping one that Mr. Farrell interspersed with the actual storyline. Hold on for the end of the ride!

It takes an exceptional author to tell you who done it with a quarter of the book left and keep you turning pages to the end. This is one of those authors and books. Get it, read it you won't be disappointed.

I liked this book. Characters were full fledged and plot was good. Story was pulled forward without too many distracting sidelines. Stayed in focus. I would read another by this author. Great start.

Very well written with an ending that makes you want more and leaves you breathless. One of best thriller/mystery combos I have read in a very long time. Would like to know more about these brothers! If I say any more, I will spoil it. A must read.

I guessed who the bad guys/gals/person or persons were about halfway through the book, but the level of suspense Mr. Farrell was able to maintain throughout his book was fantastic! Hence, the 4-star rating.

This author did have me perplexed in a page Turner what is going on? I was enthralled in reading were the narrative was leading to find the truth of the case. There were clues. But the narrative didn't want you to guess. Good job getting me hooked.

I found the language simplistic and the overall plot predictable. By chapter 2 or 3 I pretty much knew who was the highly likely culprit. Rather than struggling through to the end, I skipped to the last chapter or two. There were no surprises.

Mr. Farrell should be teaching writing if he isn't altrady. Well done ,real characters plenty of mystery and suspense. Interesting when you are pretty sure who doneit early on, that it still surprises and keeps those pages turning.
Well done.

Matthew Farrell's first venture into suspense writing is fantastic. A real page turner where the action never stops and the reader is kept wondering where the clues are leading. I look forward to reading his next novel. Congratulations, Mr Farrell.

In the author’s words, this is a “relentless thriller that keeps pushing the reader forward.” The tension begins with the very first page and doesn’t let up. Even when we learn who the killer is, there is still more to go and surprises in store.

I started this book when we lost power from hurricane florence. I could not put it down. Took a chance on an author i wasn't familiar with and got more than I'd hope. Well written, awsome story with twist and plots. Can't to read another????

I enjoyed reading this book. It kept my interest to the end although I figured out something before I was finished. I can't say much more without divulging the story line other than it got a little too complicated for me at the conclusion.

Wow! What an amazing and intense plot. The author entwined this plot so well, I kept trying to figure it out but couldn't and that key me at the edge of my seat the whole time!

This thriller has great potential but flails at the end. Seemingly seasoned detectives make career & life-ending decisions as plot twists jerk the reader into a Jerry Springer episode. Come for the quick, easy page turner...nothing else.

I selected this book as my the store first read pick and I'm glad I did. Like others, I figured out who was behind everything before the end but it was still interesting to read to see how it all unfolded. Good, solid read - I recommend.

Considering I finished this book over the course of a weekend, I’d say it was definitely a page turner. A dark one at that. I also used to live in the area where it took place so seeing those geographic names and such was pretty cool. The story itself was solid, the characters well developed and well written. I look forward to this authors next books.

Fully enjoyed this story, although I figured out the plot in the beginning. It was my curiosity that kept me reading. I couldn't figure out how he was going to get out of his mess. Great story and can't wait for the next one.
