When We Touch (A Whiskey Creek Novel)

Wasn't sure I would like this story...especially as it was a short one and I don't typically like novellas. But the story is written well and managed to hold my interest. The emotions were real enough and believable. I am now curious as to Kyle's story and will probably read the series to see how it all pans out.

The most heart-wrenching story I have read this summer, "When We Touch" just tugs at your heartstrings from page one until the end.

The story of Olivia and Brandon, "When we touch" begins with Oliva coming home to Whisky Creek heartbroken as she accepts the fact that her fiancé Kyle was marrying her sister instead of her. And to add insult to injury, Olivia has to arrange the wedding since she is a wedding planner by profession.

Enter Brandon Lucero, Kyle's stepbrother who saw Olivia bawling her heart out in her car. But, instead of living up to his bad boy image, Brandon actually offered to help her out. And thus, the most unlikely love story begins. But, it was an uphill battle for everyone concerned, including the bride and groom.

This was actually a novella, so, I was not expecting much. But, Brenda Novak fleshed out the characters so well that you would fall in love with the hero and heroine the moment you meet them. Then you also feel angry that Olivia had to go through what she was going through. There is such a gamut of emotion that by the time I finished, I thought this was a full length novel.

Great story, great ending and great start of a series...

Olivia and Brandon's story is so good. Olivia has been roped into helping do the weeding of her sister to her ex. She is consoled by Brandon the ex's brother who also feels his brother is making a mistake but the closer him and Olivia get the more than new possibilities start looming for them. Great Book! Brenda Novak is amazing!

Very short and easy read. Awkward situation for Olivia to be in to plan her sister's wedding to her ex boyfriend. And then turn around and be with his stepbrother. Turns alright in the end. I really feel sorry for Kyle.

What a heartfelt and emotional read. My eyes were all misty by the end. This is a great start to a new series that I cant wait to get my hands on all the future books.

Can you imagine the guy you were with for years but asked to take a break from to start up a wedding planning business in another city is now going to marry your sister and she is pregnant on top of that. And to throw more salt on the wound she is the wedding planner for the nuptials.

Olivia Arnold is trying to hold it together but breaks down before reaching her parents. Said breakdown is observed by her ex's step-brother Brandon, someone who she had a crush on in high school. Brandon never thought he was good enough for Olivia so after attending Prom together he acted like he wanted nothing to do with her when that was the farthest thing from the truth.

I know this was supposed to introduce us to the future characters of the upcoming Whiskey Creek books (which it did) but I fell in love with Olivia and Brandon and pouted a little at the end wanting more of there story. Now don't get me wrong - we are given a as close to a HEA as possible for a novella but I wanted more and more and more :) Yes I am being greedy.

I dont normally give 5 stars for a novella but the way I felt at the end of reading this - the emotion I felt - it deserves its 5 star rating.

I loved Brenda Novak's Stillwater Trilogy and Last Chance series - so when I discovered she was releasing a new series I couldn't pass up the opportunity to give it a read.

There are four main characters, each very well-developed considering this is a novella. You have sisters Olivia and Noelle Arnold; step-brothers Brandon Lucero and Kyle Houseman.

Wedding planner, Olivia, always intended to plan the Arnold and Houseman wedding - she just assumed she would be the bride - not her older sister Noelle. However, while Olivia was in Sacramento building her building her business - Kyle was busy knocking up her sister.

Neolle has always coveted what her sister had - (1) Brandon took Olivia to his Junior Prom; Neolle stalked him. (2) Kyle and Olivia dated; Neolle is marrying him. She is a little nutso.

Kyle and Brandon haven't ever really gotten along since Brandon's mom, Paige, married Kyle's dad, Bob. They have always been competitive; seems to be a pattern in Whiskey Creek - Sibling Rivalry. Kyle knows that he screwed up his chance with Olivia but, he doesn't want to see her hurt again...especially by Brandon. Even though Kyle's poor choices landed him in this predicament - I pity him. The author does an AWESOME job of generating real emotion within her characters - even the would be villain...Kyle. I absolutely fell in love with Brandon's character.

This was a sweet romance novella. I enjoyed it a lot actually. There was just a spot of steamy with a heavy helping of romance.

I loved the concept of the plot. There was enough going on that there wasn't a lag in any part of the story. The material to work with in this story could have had the potential for a full novel.

Olivia is a jilted ex girlfriend and a sister betrayed. Noelle is the sister who stole her sister's boyfriend and got pregnant mere months after Olivia left for a short reprieve in the city.

Kyle is the guilty party in all of this. He not only wrecked his relationship with the girl he intended to marry, but now he is stuck with her high maintenance sister. He is set on this wedding and doing the right thing even if it is a big mistake. Then there's Brandon. He is the step brother to Kyle that has unfinished business with Olivia. He is a sexy guy with a reputation for not wanting to be tied down.

The guys are hot, the girls are sweet and Whiskey Creek is a great place to be. I highly recommend this novella to anyone that is a fan of the romance genre. I give this read four glittery stars!

I enjoy reading most books by Brenda Novak. She has a way of creating characters so real that you love or hate them and this book was no acception.

In this book Olivia is a wedding planner who plans the wedding of her sister who had stolen her boyfriend and who is pregnant. There are many interesting twists and turns to the plot which lead to a happy ending.

This kinda of stuff does happen. Those guys that "have a weak moment". That's one of the things that makes this book so good. Real life tragedies mixed with a love story. Including all the sex scenes. Really enjoyed it and had trouble putting it down.

Brenda Novak's first novel in the Whiskey Creek series is wonderful!!!! I got so invested in the characters and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next!!! If you want a great love story, definitely, read this book!!!

Even though this was a rather short story, I feel it was a good one and will read more. Kyle surely wasn't very faithful - he gravitated to another woman pretty quickly. But that was Olivia's gain, I guess.

This book is perfect for a quick read!!! I finished it in an evening!! I loved everything about this book amd i can honestly say the only disappointment i had was...the fact that there wasnt a second book about them :)

This was a great introduction to the Whiskey Creek series. It was like catching ur high school crush years later. I hope to see more of Brandon & Olivia in future books. Besides Dylan, Brandon is one of my favorite heroes in this series.
