Well woven suspense! Great build up, and fantastically written however the end left way too many loose ends and was a bit anti-climatic. Overall I do love this series and would have loved to rate 4 or 5 stars if the ending especially regarding her murdered friends would have been clearly finished.

This book is textbook serial killer, psychological profiling at it's best.
Dr. Evelyn Talbot has moved to Alaska where she helped to complete Hanover House, a maximum security prison to house and study serial killers. Her newest patient, Dr. Lyman Bishop, is a brilliant cancer researcher and extremely manipulative. He is also known as "the Zombie Maker" and insists he was wrongly convicted. Our protagonist has a vested interest in the capture and study of serial killers having been a victim herself of her high school boyfriend's heinous and torturous attack in which he'd killed three of her friends and left her for dead as well. It would seem she'd never be free of the legacy that Jasper Moore has bestowed upon her, as he's never been caught.
When she arrived in the tiny hamlet of Hilltop where Hanover House is located, she was introduced to the state trooper known locally as Amarok. Amarok is younger by a number of years, but there is a cautious attraction and this episode finds them living together.
She struggles with the issue of whether or not Bishop is culpable in the ice-pick atrocities and having spoken to his dependent sister decides she must, at all cost, keep him where he truly belongs and Jasper appears to be active again.
I enjoyed the intelligent dialogue and was witness to some artful dodging in Dr. Talbot's handling of the various peripheral support characters. She definitely uses psychology on some of the relationships and does some serious manipulating of her own. Amarok is well fleshed out and very appealing. The antagonists, both Lyman Bishop and Jasper, are scary psychotic and make for a fine Halloween read, as long as lights are on and there are no howling winds, freezing temps, or pitch black skies outside. The POV tends to shift to Jasper as he proceeds with the implementation of his plan, which doesn't help the nerves any.
This is the third in the series and while this could be considered a stand-alone book, it's obvious that the reader is missing out on some of the finer introductory points.
I had a difficult time relating to Evelyn Talbot: on the one hand deftly handling persons and situations and on the other, obsessive to the point of annoying. Alaskan weather sounds as unattractive as I'd expect in winter, and small town entertainment and interaction in a remote location seemed dead on.
This digital book was offered by St. Martin's Press through NetGalley and I sincerely enjoyed the opportunity to read and review. Recommended for all who enjoy a psychological thriller, mystery and suspense novel with a touch of romance.

Hello Again by Brenda Novak is the second full length book but third overall with the prequel novella in the Evelyn Talbot Chronicles series. Hanover House at novella length introduced readers to Evelyn Talbot who is the main character in this series. Evelyn had spent her life trying to find out what makes a psychopath and how to better understand them. She was tortured and almost killed by her high school boyfriend, Jasper, and has been dealing with that as best she can. Jasper had never been captured and Evelyn lived in fear of him each day of her life and of course when this story picked up 20 years after the high school incident Jasper had truly come back.
Evelyn had managed to obtain funding for a facility in Alaska to house some of the top criminals to begin a study on the nature of these killers which is known as the Hanover House. When the facility in Alaska had been vandalized during construction she traveled there to oversee the damage and hire security. Evelyn began a friendship with Amarok, the local state trooper and for the first time in a long time she let herself begin trusting a man and feeling some sort of attraction.
Now in Hello Again Evelyn’s story resumes after the ending of the last book, Her Darkest Nightmare, where Evelyn and Amarok had grown closer together while working to solve the brutal homicide. Evelyn has begun studying Dr. Lyman Bishop who is better known as the Zombie Maker for his use of an ice pick to try to perform a lobotomy on his victims. But as Evelyn is working with Bishop it comes to be known that his case very well may be overturned which pushes Evelyn to find out more about the man she believes is guilty and does not want to see walk free. But then a new ice pick murder occurs which seems that maybe the man may be innocent but when Evelyn finds she has a connection to the newest victim she begins to wonder if this killer may be Jasper coming back from her own past.
First, I will say that I urge readers that are interested in this series to go back and start from the beginning. While the books could possibly be understood without doing so a reader would miss so much depth in the story and background information if skipping ahead and this series is one that is just too good not to enjoy thoroughly. Each book has built upon the characters and really continued the overall story from Evelyn’s past which made her into the flawed character that she is that I have come to love more with each read. Evelyn is vulnerable after the events in her past that would scar anyone but she’s tough and strong and surviving while trying to make the world better by getting to understand her own worst nightmare in these horrible killers.
The series toes the line between being a thriller or a romantic suspense story as there is a relationship that has formed slowly between Evelyn and Amorak. However, the relationship is not overly pushed in the story but has formed rather slowly while the books concentrate on the action and investigations. This style has revolved in part due to Evelyn’s history and her nature to not trust men from that history but the slower development fit her character to a tee and I think that leaves the series open for those that enjoy either genre to get invested in the series.
Again after reading this edition to the series my only complaint walking away from Hello Again would be that I don’t have the next book in my hands to immediately begin reading. I was as usual caught up in Evelyn’s story and engaged all the way through then left with a what are you trying to do to me Ms. Novak feeling at the end. I will be impatiently awaiting the next book and would encourage readers to give this series a try as I think fans of thrillers and romantic suspense reads will really enjoy this story.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a digital arc of this novel.
Having read Hanover House, a novella, and Her Darkest Nightmare, a novel, I had been ready for this next book in the series and settled down to enjoy it. This one is still a very good story, well written with characters you can easily like or, in the case of the serial killers, very easily dislike. My problem is that I'm seeing so much of a sameness about all three of the stories involving this main character that I'm wondering how much longer I will be willing to stay with the series. Having set her story in the tiny town of Hilltop, Alaska, has become very limiting for author Brenda Novak. I'm ready for some moving around from that location because just how many blizzards can we have without beginning to notice the weather is always a large part of the story? This series is going to have to move away from Hilltop to snag my interest next time. Surely there must be a police force somewhere that needs to consult with Dr. Talbot about a possible serial killer investigation they have going. Let's hope.
Dr. Evelyn Talbot has accomplished her ambition of establishing a maximum security prison devoted only to serial killers so that research can be carried on regarding why they do the horrible things they do. Hanover House was not popular when it was first proposed to the citizens of Hilltop, but things seem to have settled down on that front and Dr. Talbot has just had Lyman Bishop, nicknamed the Zombie Maker, transferred to Hanover House. She is ready to get down to some serious psychological evaluation with Bishop, but always keeps in mind her own experience with Jasper, a friend from high school, who kidnapped and tortured her when she was fifteen. What new insights or information will she get from Bishop and what blockbuster situation will change everything for him?
I liked this story, but when considered as a series it seems to be staying too much on the same track where the psychology is concerned without actually doing much research and having more and more of the personal romantic life of Evelyn take over the focus. That's not why I began reading this series so I will be very careful before I read the next book. No more automatic reading for me. For readers new to the series, I would suggest that you begin with the novella at least before reading this one. That way you will get the most information about Dr. Talbot's past experiences with Jasper, the serial killer she had her own horrible experience with and the reason she is so passionate about the research opportunity Hanover House presents.

Dr. Evelyn Talbot is back in business after recovering from an attack and solving a grisly case in the last book. This book picks up where that one left off.
Hanover House is receiving its newest inmate, Dr. Lyman Bishop, who has been recently convicted of murder via botched lobotomies with an ice pick. His calm demeanor and intelligence don’t fool Evelyn as she is convinced he’s right up there with Hannibal Lector. There’s a bit of a snafu with the case and it looks like he may be released. Evelyn tries to gather as much evidence as possible against him including phone interviews with his mentally challenged sister and the caregiver that used to look out for her.
This book disturbed me on so many levels. His crimes against his icepick victims were gross and graphic in their own way – but the layers that were peeled away on his relationship with his beloved sister that really gave me nightmares.
The writing is exquisite and she has you feeling that you are in Evelyn’s shoes and you’re feeling the terror and disgust at all she uncovers.
The relationship between Evelyn and Amarok grows and I like that he’s not giving up on her and she’s slowly coming around and getting more comfortable with “them.”
Like the previous books, Jasper, the boy who tortured and tried to kill Evelyn in High School, makes a few appearances. We get to see what he is doing while in hiding and still obsessed with Evelyn and its absolutely chilling. He gives me the creeps and I long for the day when Amarok puts a bullet in that creeps head!
These books aren’t the happy go lucky books I normally gravitate to, but they are excellent and keeping you flipping the pages and messing with your mind.

Hello Again..... the second full length novel in the Evelyn Talbot Chronicles is quite riveting to say the least. Ms. Novak does an excellent job weaving the plot into an exciting, dark, thriller with lots of twists and turns. The book flows so well, I was on edge throughout reading it. Thusly, making this a book that was hard to put down. Likewise, her characters are true to life and I felt as if I was right there with Evelyn fighting her battles with her.
As a reader that works and has studied in the field of psychology, this storyline is right up my alley. It is apparent Ms. Novak completed her research before writing this story, citing both real methodology protocol and clinical studies. Therefore, the story held my interest. Dr. Evelyn Talbot a renown psychiatrist has dedicated her life to studying serial killers. Working with the government to open a facility in a remote area in Alaska; the worst of the worst are sent to Hanover House for Dr. Talbot and her associates to study.
Plagued with several different cases for Evelyn to study, this was one of the factors that kept this storyline so real. As a former victim of torture and attempted murder, Dr. Talbot is hopeful of someday coming face to face with her tormentor, Jasper Moore. Jasper had killed her three high school friends, tormented her and left her for dead when she was 16 years old. Hence, she fights hard for the victims and the victims' families, of the serial killers convicted and incarcerated in her facility.
It is without a doubt, I highly recommend this book and series to those who enjoy reading a stellar psychological thriller that offers a plot so dynamic that there are multiple subjects within the storyline. To me, this made for a most interesting read.

Evelyn Talbot is a psychiatrist, devoting her life to unraveling the minds of the remorseless killer. Hanover House was opened in a small, remote town close to Anchorage, Alaska, housing 250 of the most dangerous felons in America, included 37 of the worst serial killers. . Sixteen year old Evelyn Talbot was kidnapped by her boyfriend of six months, Jasper Moore, and held captive for three days. In those three days, he tortured and killed her best friends, Marissa, Jessie and Agatha, and brutally attacked and raped Evelyn. Jasper set the shack on fire, but for some reason after Jasper left, the fire went out before it did too much damage. With a broken leg and one eye swollen shut and pain in every part of her body, Evelyn managed to get to the road where a passing motorist found her. Jasper got away.
Benjamin Murphy, aka Amarok, an Alaska State Trooper and Evelyn’s boyfriend, is researching murders across the country where the female victims bore a stricking resemblance to Evelyn – looking for Jasper’s “signature”.
I really liked this book but hate the cliff hanger ending! This is the third book in the series, but definitely a stand-a-lone book. There are twists that I didn’t see coming and am waiting anxiously for the next book.

Genre: Mystery/Romantic Suspense
Type: Book 2 in The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles Series
POV: First Person – Multiple
"What made some people more evil than others? And why did those people enjoy inflicting pain on the innocent?"
This book picks up right where the first book left off; Evelyn Talbot is a thirty-seven year old survivor of serial killer Jasper Moore. She continues her study of serial killers at the isolated Hanover House in Alaska. Evelyn knows she is far from safe as long as Jasper is still on the loose and killing more people.
"So far, Jasper had managed to outsmart them all...They both knew he was out there. Waiting. Planning. That he'd made a second attempt on her life after twenty years left little doubt."
Amarok Murphy; is the thirty-year old Sergeant in the Alaska local town. He is madly in love with Evelyn's and regardless of their seven year age difference he is willing to put all the extra time and work to find Jasper so that they can have some peace.
"When you're looking for a needle in a haystack, you have to sift through a hell of a lot of hay."
I love this book so much more than the first one, I think Evelyn has mature so much more and the romantic relationship with Amarok has also grown a lot too. They have become more intimate with each other and the fact that he is willing to do whatever it takes for her makes me so happy. We do get some angst in this story; Amarok's ex is back in town to claim what she thinks is hers and she will fight tooth and nail for Amarok which kind of made me nervous because in the midst of the chaos and the danger that seems to follow and lurk Evelyn now she has to deal with this crazy woman.
Hello Again is the second installment of this addicting romantic suspense from The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles series. I was unable to stop once I started; this book is a total page turner with so many twists and turns, full of mystery and suspense. We have the main villain (Jasper) with the main plot-line in the story which I really liked but we also get to see other individual cases thought the book that makes it more interesting to read.
The author did an excellent job taking us to the Jasper's mind which I truly loved because it made the story so much interesting. Really looking forward to more of this character and see where the author takes us in this crazy roller-coaster ride. Readers who enjoy a good romantic suspense will find this book appealing it will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
I won a paperback copy via goodreads. Thank you!

While Evelyn’s live-in boyfriend (who also happens to be the town’s only cop/sheriff) Amarok is investigating some leads on her old boyfriend (and serial killer) Jasper, Evelyn has her hands full with the newest inmate at Hanover House: Dr. Lyman Bishop. He continues to insist he is innocent and he doesn’t meet the criteria of psychopath as closely as Evelyn would like. As she spends time with him, she begins to question if he’s a psychopath and whether or not he might, in fact, be innocent as he claims. Then an old high school acquaintance gets murdered in the same fashion as those Dr. Bishop is accused of…
Meanwhile, Jasper is intent on his plans to finish Evelyn off once and for all, and it all seems to be going to plan when Amarok’s investigations bring him closer than Jasper is comfortable with. Without thinking, Jasper reacts and puts his plans at risk.
And to make things even more interesting, while Amarok and Evelyn are getting closer and trying to get on the same page about what the future holds for them, his old girlfriend moves back into town and starts stirring things up.
Is Dr. Bishop innocent or just the smartest psychopath she’s ever encountered? Will Jasper’s plans play out as he hopes or has Amarok’s snooping damaged them irreparably? And who is killing Evelyn’s high school friends back in Boston?
That’s it. Hello Again makes this one of my new favorite series. I mean, I really liked the first in the series, Her Darkest Nightmare, enough that I was excited and eager when this became available, but if I’d known it was going to be this good, I would have set aside whatever else I was reading as soon as I got my hands on it. Seriously. The first in the series had a few flaws that made it more a 3.5, but the first 2/3rds was so great, I could see how much potential there was in the long run. In Hello Again, everything is better: the romantic relationship, the plotting, the intensity and pace. I was questioning more, less sure of my gut. I found myself much more invested in her relationship with Amarok. And there is so much fodder for the next book (or three!). So. Much.
I can’t wait! Honestly, it’s going on my Most Anticipated list for 2018. How’s that for a recommendation?
Note: I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I pride myself on writing fair and honest reviews.

Received in exchange for a honest review.
So everyone who has read the romance of Brenda Novak if that is what you are looking for think again. this does have a romance in her but it doesn’t jump out and scream seductive. This is a psychological suspense to say the least.
You do need the first book to understand some of the references but if you haven’t read it it will not detract from the enjoyment of this book. Brenda Novak has started this series with some nailbiting tales to say the least. Here she has two killers that are smart and cunning like Hannibel Lector but they don’t admit their guilt to anyone. Jasper revels in his narcissistic behavior. He salivates in the hunt and kill and how he is able to have no emotion for anyone. He finds ways to cover up who he is and at some point it becomes too much for him. His need and desire for pain infliction and to get revenge on Evelyn does take over. He makes some mistakes but it is only when Amorak is on his trail that this does happen. He has no remorse and no feeling except deep pleasure in his kills. He is eerie and freaky but at the end your hair is on end from him.
The other killer is Lyman Bishop. He is smart and enjoys the game. The hunt is secondary. what he wants is the end of his act. His victim being compliant and doing what he wants. To me they are experiments for him. Him getting caught is an unexpected snag that brings him to Evelyn and Hanover House. Though even there you see the game on with him. He hides behind a mask and has you question so much. Novak does a great job in having you question yourself and believing in what isn’t real. She has you doubt guilt and innocence in a way that is silkily smooth in its execution and will have your hair stand on end the whole time as you read the actions that you question the guilt of those that are accused. While Bishop is playing Evelyn, she is not only question her gut she is questioning herself on other things as well. It throws her world into some chaos as does all that Jasper is doing and what they are discovering about him. bishop in ways will remind you of Lector in his crimes and demeanor. He will give you the heeby jeebies for sure.
So who doesn’t? Amorak. He is faithful, loyal and so in love with Evelyn. He helps her heal more from her past in this book and also has her starting to think of a future with him. Amorak I think is the one who will bring down Jasper. He is tenacious and a good police officer. their relationship is hitting some bumpy times but I do believe the love and respect they have for one another will pull them through.
evelyn is as strong as ever in this book. She is smart and able to believe in herself even when her doubt creep in. she starts to wonder about her future and realizes how she really feels about Amorak as well. You see her be able to outmaneuver Bishop at times and get his facade to crack. Her dedication and passion to her work is commendable and also brings her down this path of darkness that surrounds her world.
Brenda Novak has done a great job in giving us a suspense thriller that has the hair stand on end. She slowly ups the creep factor and has you doubting what you know but also will freak you with some of the actions of her killers. We get to truly see how the killer’s mind works at times and it is scary. The writing of the thrill and suspense is executed in a silkily smooth and unnervingly so because it gets under your skin and doesn’t let go. You are drawn into the darkness and can’t let go until the end where you are shocked by the turn of events and are wondering how this will play out in the end.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A CRIMINAL CAN SEE INTO HER OWN?

"Hello Again" is the 2nd full-length novel in "The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles" featuring Dr. Eve Talbot and hunky Alaskan Trooper Sergeant Benjamin “Amarok” Murphy. Eve has regrouped from the previous novel where she was dealing with opening the program at the new maximum security research prison for psychopaths in Hilltop, Alaska. Along with the pressure of opening this facility in climate-challenging location where the local residents had not been enthusiastic, to say the least, she had also had to juggle the desires and egos of a high maintenance and difficult staff, the attentions of a stalker, and the murders of some of her coworkers. Just recalling all that had occurred up to this time, I was wondering what could possibly top that?
"Hello Again" delivered! This book is full of twists and suspenseful action throughout as well as the steadily growing romance between the two main characters. Being set in a prison specifically for psychopaths gives the story an immediate creepy factor. Every character behind those bars has the potential for a story of terror. This story features a lot from the viewpoint of Eve’s personal, UNincarcerated psychopath though: Jasper Moore. He’s getting closer …
I particularly liked how the relationship between Eve and the awesome Amarok progresses. She was such a damaged soul, and she’s concerned about being more than a few years older than him. He has turned out to be so much more patient, caring, and understanding than the usual romance novel hero – without feeling unrealistic, too.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this book (and this series) to romance and romantic suspense readers. It is great, and I can’t wait for the next is the series.
I received a free, advance copy of this book from the author in exchange for my unbiased review.

Hello Again is the second book in the thrilling new The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles series by bestselling author Brenda Novak. A chilling, psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. With the unique storyline, complex characters, murder, mystery, suspense, and intriguing twists, it's a definite must read! Another fantastic book by Mrs. Novak, and a great addition to what is going to be an exceptional series.
This was a great story, and I was hooked right from the start. I really liked Evelyn and Amarok, as well as several of the secondary characters. The story is told in different POV's, which was easy to follow, and was extremely well written. You could feel the frustration, fear, excitement, as well as the numerous other emotions that each of the characters were feeling as you read through the pages, which made the story come to life. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, and to see where the story will lead.
Although I haven't read the previous book, or the prequel to the series, I had no problems with understanding the storyline, or keeping up with the characters involved. I'm sure that it would have been helpful to have read the others first, mainly to have the full back story on Evelyn, as well as other things that happened at Hanover House over the last year, but there was enough information regarding these things that I didn't feel as though I was missing anything vital. I do plan to go back and catch up with the previous books prior to the next one releasing.
I would suggest that if you're interested in this series, that you start with the prequel, and read them in order. This book does end with a cliffhanger, and I'm assuming that parts of the plot will be carried throughout the series.
I strongly recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
I have voluntarily reviewed this arc provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Brenda Novak has written another edge of the seat creepy story about Hanover House in Hilltop, Alaska and the criminally disturbed inmates of the prison that Dr. Evelyn Talbot studies. While she works with a new patient, Dr. Lyman Bishop, a cancer researcher convicted of killing people after performing an ice pick lobotomy on them, she is reeling with the news of some of her former classmates being killed back in Boston. Does this mean that Jasper is out to kill her friends once more? It has been twenty one years since he killed three of her friends, tortured her and left her for dead. He has never gotten over the fact that she didn't die. He even tried to kill her eighteen months ago. She won't ever have a moment of peace until he is caught. Her boyfriend, Sergeant Benjamin (Amorak) Murphy is getting serious and wants to get married. Does she want to stay in Alaska forever, in Amorak's home state? Her family wants her back in Boston. She has dedicated her life to studying psychopaths but it is very dangerous dealing with them everyday. Jasper is still around but is he really the killer of the classmates? He is living in Arizona and women are dying there. Her old disgraced colleague, Dr. Tim Fitzpatrick, is bugging her to allow him to help her. She doesn't want anything to do with him. As the story progresses, so does the fear factor and I wondered how it was going to end. Oh my goodness! The next book is going to be even more scary I predict!
I recommend this series if you like scary suspense involving the cunning minds of psychopaths. It is evident that Brenda does a ton of research of the subject of psychopathy. She does a wonderful job of explaining what is going on and giving background information. I do recommend highly that you read the novella and first book in the series before reading Hello Again.
Thanks to Brenda Novak for allowing me to read the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hello Again by Brenda Novak is the next best installment in this series. Psychopaths, danger, death, and a whole lot of risks. Plus, a serial killer is hunting the main protagonist down....it's only a matter of time.
Evelyn Talbots works in a maximum prison where the most dangerous criminals are brought. It's there thatshe studies all about them unless they make it impossible. Enters, Dr. Bishop. A recent prisoner that has come to Hangover House. He claims he's innocent and been framed. But Evelyn doesn't think so...and she isn't about to let loose a maniac. However, Dr. Bishop might just get his release after all...
Evelyn is still seriously struggling with the past events. Her boyfriend, a psychopath, tortured her almost to death. But she survived. He hasn't been caught yet....and he's still after her.
Things get chiller with every page. Brenda Novak brilliantly makes a frightening reality and turns it into one of the most compelling reads ever. I can't believe it's fiction...
Evelyn is in love with her boyfriend, a local trooper. He wants marriage and kids with her. But with a killer like Jasper waiting to kill her again, Evelyn can't move forward...it's sad but totally understandable.
Hello Again is indeed the perfect title. I almost wished Evelyn could have figured it out...one of her worst nightmares is right in front of her! And then, there's her best prison study case...he's clever and manipulating. Danger is always in the air. Death waiting in the air. Overall, Brenda Novak still proves to be the best suspense writer around...her book, Hello Again, sends shivers down my spine. Kept me captivated and hooked me right in...I highly recommend this novel to all readers.

Hello Again is a great addition to The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles Series. Novak has picked up the pace, raised the stakes even higher, and dove deeper into the minds of the criminally insane through Evelyn's research at Hanover House - a maximum-security prison in Alaska where some of the world's worst serial killers are imprisoned and studied. As the story opens, Evelyn is preparing to meet with Dr. Lyman Bishop, aka the Zombie Maker, a brilliant cancer researcher so named because he performed ice-pick lobotomies on his victims. After talking with him, she realizes he's one of the smartest, most conniving psychopaths she's ever interviewed . . . a deadly, master manipulator. Evelyn may have met her match, but when another ice-pick murder occurs, the possibility the wrong man was convicted is pursued. And yet, Evelyn has a gut-feeling that Jasper, her ex-boyfriend who tortured her and killed three of her friends, may be involved in the latest killing. Is she right or just being paranoid? Time is of the essence and lives are on the line.
Hello Again is a riveting, psychological thriller. The story flows smoother and the pace is faster than in Her Darkest Nightmare, I think. I liked that Novak took some big steps forward with character relationship development and the overall story arc. The flawed characters came across almost a little too real in some chilling scenes, causing me to look over my shoulder a time or two! Like driving on a curvy, dark country road at night, this story unfolds with twists and turns that left me breathless, heart racing right through the end (which I won't discuss, but omg!). I'm more intrigued by this series than ever. An awesome addition to the series! A Must Read!

Her newest inmate is Lyman Bishop, aka the Zombie Maker, whose weapon of choice is an ice pick, which he uses to crudely perform lobotomies on his female victims. Meanwhile, Jasper Moore, the man who brutally attacked Evelyn as a teen, is plotting his next move that will bring him closer to her.
Admittedly, this is a creepy series given what Evelyn does but this story really disturbed me, so much so it took me longer to finish because I was terrified as to what I’d find next when I turned the page. Getting Jasper’s point of view iced the cake as this guy is charming and clever (think Ted Bundy). Lyman was also one sick fellow, masterful in controlling his emotions so he appeared harmless. What made this so terrifying is we know what’s coming unbeknownst to Evelyn. Despite my trepidation, this was just the kind of brew I like in my thrillers. Thank goodness there’s a little bit of romance to provide some respite between the suspense.
I very much enjoyed this one, even if it scared me silly. I could hardly make it through to the breathtaking climax and I even did something I never do...peeked a little at the epilogue. I know, I know...shame on me but I couldn’t stand it any longer. Fair warning, there’s a bit of a cliff hanger of sorts, only to set up what the next book will portend. I can hardly wait. Well done, Ms. Novak.

4 1/2 STARS!
A delectably chilling addition to the Evelyn Talbot series! This is a series that in my opinion should be read in order from the beginning so that you will be able to follow along and get all of the history and inflection of what has happened previously. We are familiar with the majority of the characters at this point, but there are always new deranged killers showing up at the prison. The plot is easy to get entrenched into, because we are just waiting for her to be in danger again. We definitely saw some of that in this book, but I was looking for a little more actual Jasper interaction. Hopefully the next book will give us a satisfactory conclusion to his terror once and for all ... and I'm still crossing my fingers on that happily ever after for Evelyn & Amarok!
Forever reeling from her traumatizing teenage experiences, psychiatrist Evelyn Talbot worked hard to get Hanover House prison established in Hilltop, Alaska. She studies some of the most deranged serial killers ever to have been imprisoned and hopes to one day have some conclusive research to combat the devious mind of a killer. When her latest high profile prisoner arrives, tension is high. Dr. Lyman Bishop AKA the Zombie Maker has been reeking havoc performing ice-pick lobotomies. Upon beginning sessions with him, she deduces that he's a very credible liar ... or is it possible he actually is innocent like he claims?
When a new murder occurs with the same MO, it's obvious it couldn't be Bishop ... but when the news gets out that it's an old classmate of Evelyn's, everyone wonders if it's Jasper coming back to taunt her once again!

Despite some bumps, Evelyn Talbot has gotten Hanover House up and running. She has even made great strides in her personal life and intimacy as she and Amarok are living together and she is slowly conquering her past. The only fly in the ointment is Jasper, her high school boyfriend who left her for dead, after killing her friends. He disappeared, but Evelyn knows it's a matter of time before he comes back to finish her off. Amarok knows the only way to put her fears to rest is to find Jasper, and he is making more progress than anyone has so far and knows convincing Jasper's mom is key.
Evelyn has her hands full at Hanover House with the arrival of Lyman Bishop, also known as the Zombie Killer. Bishop maintains his innocence, but Evelyn is convinced he is one of the worst she has dealt with. When Bishop's conviction is called into question, Evelyn knows it's a matter of time before he kills again.
With more twists and turns and suspense, Novak creates another novel that kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages. I enjoyed the development of key characters, and even the secondary characters. Jasper is a truly scary person and his plans are even scarier.
This is the second full-length novel in the series, but it can be read as a stand alone novel. Novak has created a series that will keep you hooked, and I can't wait to see what happens next, the only down-side is having to wait until the next book comes out!

This is the second full length book in The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles by Brenda Novak and as such, definitely can't be read as a standalone. Dr. Evelyn Talbot studies criminal psychopaths in the institution she lobbied for, Hanover House, found in the wilderness of Alaska. But she has a personal reason for doing this as well, when she was 16 years old, her boyfriend, tortured her and left her for dead, as well as killing all three of her friends. That was twenty years ago and he has never been caught. Despite moving on with her life, and finding solace in her romantic relationship with Amarok, Jasper roaming around free feels like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Somewhere, somehow they will meet again and this time she wants to be better prepared.
In Hello, Again, another convicted serial killer has been transferred to Hanover House and as Evelyn continues interviewing and studying him, the more things don't add up. When another victim with the same M.O turns up, doubt enters whether the real killer has been caught. Meanwhile, Evelyn's old nemesis is coming closer and closer to where she is, will this be the time of their inevitable encounter?
This series is extremely dark and sometimes has that air of hopelessness that makes a reader doubt if an HEA will be possible at all. But the relationship that Evelyn has with Amarok shines a kind of beacon, reassuring readers that it is possible despite all the odds. Hello, Again is a suspense thriller that is not going to let you sleep peacefully at night!

Dr. Evelyn Talbot runs Hanover House. Here she works with psychopaths so that she can try to understand them. It helps her deal with the horror she suffered in high school. Jasper Moore killed her three girlfriends and tortured her. Evelyn survived. Jasper escaped and continues killing. More women are dying. When will he come for her? Evelyn is a complicated character. She has the strength to face down the dangerous criminals housed at Hanover House. In her personal life, she is involved with Amarok and cares deeply for him, but is afraid to commit. Amarok is a Police Sergeant in Hilltop Alaska. I liked how supportive he is of Evelyn. He is so caring and protective. This is a real man. Their romance is tender and passionate. Hello Again is a riveting read. I couldn't put this book down. The story is a dark tale filled with unrelenting terror. I was so involved that I felt the urge to look over my shoulder and make sure I was safe. Brenda Novak outdid herself with this story. The ending had me on the edge of seat. What a cliffhanger! I hope I don't have to wait too long to see what happens next.
I received a copy of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. My comments are my honest opinion.

Thank you NetGalley and Brenda Novak for the ARC of Hello Again that I read and reviewed.
The second installment of The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles picked up right where the first one left off and this one was packed with more suspense and thrills. The killer that Evelyn had come to Alaska this time was Dr. Lyman Bishop, AKA the Zombie Maker and he was what I would call one sick puppy who was accused of giving his victim ice-pick lobotomies. When it was learned that the detective on the case planted evidence and he was going to be set free so Evelyn makes it her mission to put him back behind bars.
She also has to deal with Jasper Moore, high school sweet heart who tried to kill her and murdered her high school friends that is still out there killing and still want to finish what he started all those years ago. When her boyfriend an Alaska cop uncovers evidence that Jasper is still active and killing a new wave of terror for Evelyn is unleashed.
This book is full of murder, suspense and some romance. It is also a great lead for the next book that I can't wait to come out. This is a book you won't want to put down.
I am giving Hello Again five out of five stars.

Overall Comments: This is the best of the series so far. Mixing the romance, personal demons, serial killer mysteries, danger and suspense, the book leaves you wanting more. I will certainly be awaiting the next book in the series! I've been a fan of all of Brenda's books, I haven't found one I don't love yet. I generally find myself drawn to romance, however this series really draws me in. It mixes romance with mystery and suspense. I literally have a hard time putting the book down whenever reading it. It's a hold on to your seats book, because once you start reading it, you can't put it down. at times it leaves you breathless wanting more...
THE STORY: Dr. Evelyn Talbot is continuing her work with serial killers at Hanover House in Alaska determined to uncover a way to identify the people who become serial killer. Her newest inmate is known as the Zombie Maker who defies many of the standard expectations of serial killers -- but he also reminds her of her ex-boyfriend Jasper who killed her friends and almost herself and has been on the loose for two decades. When another friend of Evelyn is killed with the Zombie Maker's signature the question arises: was the wrong man convicted of the Zombie Maker's crimes or is Jasper hunting Evelyn again.

I trade off reading darker stories with happy endings. Brenda Novak is a rare writer than can write both well. I have found that regardless of the subject her writing always pulls me into the story. This installment of the Evelyn Talbot series is no different. Alaska is a perfect setting for Hanover House. The prison is a good symbol of the inmates there....dark and desolate. I enjoyed seeing Evelyn's progress in her relationship with Amarok. He is the much needed hero in this series. In Hello Again, we get to be introduced to a new prisoner Lyman Bishop. The interviews between Evelyn and Lyman are interesting. They kept me guessing as to his guilt or innocence in the crimes he was convicted. In addition to this storyline we learn more about Jasper, the reason for Evelyn's quest to learn more about psychopaths. Jasper is flat out scary. The ending is a bit of a nail biter. The story overall has a lot of twists as we learn more about a number of the characters. It also kept me guessing. I am interested in seeing where the next book in the series takes us! I received an advanced copy for an honest review.

Thank you to Net-Galley, St. martins Press and Brenda Novak for the ARC of this book. No form of payment was received, these are only my thoughts on this story.
I highly recommend that you read Hanover House and Her Darkest Nightmare before you read Hello Again. This is the 3rd book in this series if you count the novella Hanover House that starts this series.
I was so excited to get an early copy of this story after reading the two previous books. I love the characters and was glad to get more of them. Evelyn and Amarok are the two main characters, I love them. I love their connection, I love how Amarok knows what he wants and that he tell her every chance he gets.
Lyman Bishop is pure evil. He gave me the creeps from the beginning.. I wanted to reach into my kindle and punch him in the face.
Jasper is one sick and twisted guy. Will he ever get caught and pay for what he has done or will he continue to be free and be able to do whatever he wants?
I look forward to see where Brenda Novak takes us next!

Evelyn Talbot is one of my favorite new character's by Mrs. Brenda Novak. Evelyn is the psychiatrist who heads up Hanover House, a maximum security prison in a small town in Alaska.
Through her work interviewing and studying the worst of the convicted serial killers, she hopes to gain an understanding of what makes them tick or why they turned out the way they did.
Evelyn has needed to find these answers since her high school boyfriends tortured her, killed her best friends & then left her for dead. He's never been captured and convicted of his crimes. Although the focus of Hanover House is for the general good of the public, Evelyn is pushed to find answers by her past history with Jasper her high school boyfriend.
Evelyn is driven to place herself in harms way if she feels she can get the answers she needs. No spoilers from me, but each new installment becomes my favorite and I can't wait to read more. I think this is my favorite in the series so far.

Hello Again is thrilling, engaging, and keep you on the edge of your seat suspenseful! Evelyn is continuing her work with psychopaths at Hanover House with the latest murder to join the prison. Dr. Lyman Bishop may be one of her most challenging cases yet as Evelyn tries to determine if this seemingly intelligent, dedicated cancer researcher, and good brother may have been framed for his gruesome crimes. The relationship continues to develop between Evelyn and Amarok as she can continue to heal from the past since he is her safe space. But both Evelyn and Amarok are impacted by the looming presence of Jasper. There are new surprising and frightening developments, twists, and turns that will impact Evelyn, Amarok, their family and friends, and Hanover House as the countdown to the next showdown between Evelyn and Jasper ticks down. I would recommend reading this series in order, but you could start this series with Hello Again.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

Intense, suspenseful, on-the-edge of my seat, gripping. Brenda Novak has me tied in knots with the intensity that Hanover House brings as Evelyn works with psychopaths to help other victims and prevent more crimes. I love how Amarok has helped Evelyn become comfortable with herself again following her trauma. She is so intelligent and truly wants to help prevent more crimes like what she suffered. She comes up against some scary guys in her research which can keep you up at night. Factor in that Jasper is still out there and wants revenge on the woman that got away from his predilections and well, the intensity just ratchets up another level. I love Amarok and his drive to find Jasper to protect Evelyn. His patience with Evelyn is amazing and the beauty of this relationship for both of them is a wonderful positive caught up in all the craziness that Evelyn seems to have following her. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

This stellar novel is the second in the Dr. Evelyn Talbot series and it features Dr. Evelyn Talbot and Sergeant Benjamin "Amarok" Murphy. I'm not really into suspense novels but this one has a thread of romance running through it and it is a series by an amazing contemporary romance author that I adore. I figured I would give it a try and I'm so glad I did! As I started reading I immediately got sucked into the story line and let me just say that the way it's put together is perfection! The characters, the build up, the plot twists and even the end we're fan-freaking-tastic. Several times, while reading, I felt myself inhaling deeply at what was happening but none more so than a little more than halfway into this book. It was SHOCKING!
Brenda Novak, you are as fabulously talented at writing romantic suspense as you are at writing contemporary romance. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book.

Oh Wow, another great book from Brenda Novak. This is the second book in the Evelyn Talbot Chronicles. The first book introducing these was Hanover House. If you like gruesome murder mysteries.......this one is for you. I wasn't so sure at first, but the first one, Her Darkest Nightmare, drew me in and now it's hard to put them down. Brenda always weaves her characters throughout each book. And, I would say, my opinion, they should be read in order. Hello Again was way more evil. How can these murders get any worse and then. BAM..........another one. And how the minds of these killers work, oh my goodness. And yes, there is a love story. Have to have that don't we? Of course. So, hope you will read these books and that you will enjoy them as much as I do. I'm thinking this isn't the end of the Evelyn Talbot Chronicles Seems like Evelyn will not stop until she finds out how the minds of these psychopaths work.

Welcome back to Hanover House!
Evelyn Talbot has a new patient, Dr. Lyman Bishop. He's an intelligent psychopath. Evelyn wanted to just get to know him and study him, but then his last victim's sister arrived wanting information about her deceased sister. Which meant Evelyn had to move up her plan for Bishop to get him to tell her where Jan was buried.
All the while, Evelyn's own psycho Jasper has been killing again, this time his parents.
This is a suspenseful story with twists and turns that have you holding your breath. The end is quite a surprise.
