I wanted this book because I became interested in trusts when I read one of Suze Orman's books. I loved her book, but this one I feel is even better. It is so clear, well organized, and makes everything extremely easy to understand. It is one of the most thorough layman's books I have ever seen on the subject. There are tear out hard copies of each form you will need, plus a cd with all the forms so you can just fill them out on your computer, print them off as needed, and keep the ones in the book for reference.
Basically, this book gives you all the information you will need to prepare your own living trust, and gives tips on hiring a lawyer to review the trust. There are situations in which you will definitely need legal advice, this book clearly covers those various situations.
You will learn not just how to protect your family and your estate after you're gone, but how to protect yourself and your assets while you are still alive. I can't say enough about this book. It will be the first one I pick off the shelf whenever I have a question. And I have full confidence that I will find the answer.

Easy to read and gives ideas on other things besides making a Living Trust. He explains the pros and cons of Living Trusts and if a Trust would benefit you at all. Explains probate and many other things...and gives enough examples to help explain things more clearly. Turns out I don't need a Living Trust at this time. I learned valuable information for leaving my home to my daughter without worrying about probate and I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't read the book, and all it involves is going to the recorder's office. There is a lot of information and so much was brand new to me. I was worried that I would have to wade through pages of technical jargon but that wasn't the case.

The forms on the CD are fill-in-the-blanks and are created with Wordpad which I don't care for, but they will get the job done and are saving you a lot of money in lieu of an attorney. You can also use the tear-out forms in the book. I'm glad I have the book, I know that I will refer to it over and over.

The first five chapters comprise a clearly written background to living trusts: their advantages, different types for different circumstances, and so on. The remaining chapters give instructions as to how to go about creating and registering your trust. There is also an included CD which installs a set of forms for trusts and wills. Yes, there is also a chapter on writing a will.

Net, net, it is all here. If I have a beef, a very small one, it is that because trusts for different circumstances are covered in depth, you either have to plow through stuff that is not relevant, or judiciously skip until you get back to what applies to your particular case. Since this is a book and not hypertext, there is probably no way around this.

There is a warning that the CD is not supported for the Mac, but it only contains rtf files so, even in the worst case, it could be run on a PC and then the files transferred to a Mac.

I have always been interested in Living Trust, and I have actually spent time to attend a few Living Trust seminars.

"Make Your Own Living Trust" has provided more information than all the Living Trust seminars I have attended. For most people, it has all the information you need to know to make your own living trust, such as overview, FAQ, human realities, types of living trusts (Individual Trusts, Basic Shared Living Trusts, and Tax-Saving AB Trusts), choosing and changing trustee, choosing and changing beneficiaries, property left to minor children or young adults, preparing your living trust document, transferring property to your living trust, copying, storing and registering your trust document, using a backup will, etc.

This book provides very useful information. For example, it tells you how you can set up a Tax-Saving AB Trust and pass up to 10 million dollars tax free to your children beyond the special years of 2011 and 2012.

"Make Your Own Living Trust" also comes with a very useful CD Rom that contains the window and Mac version of the forms you need to file for the living trust.

A simple Living Trust cost around $1,000 and up. With this book, you can make your own living trust easily.

"Make Your Own Living Trust" is an excellent book well worthy of the purchasing price and can save you thousands or even millions of dollars.

I have been thinking about creating a will. After going through then reading this book I realize it will much better to create a living trust rather than a will. This book provides straight forward direction and help.

While you can and may write your own living trust with the forms provided in this book, but because of the complexities, importance and your individuals laws I believe an attorney should be involved in the process.

This book can lay the ground work, gain an understanding and know what in the heck a Living Trust entails. Plus by using this book you can get the preliminaries in order and ready to go.

This book is well written and easy to understand and very helpful.

I'm very impressed with this book. My husband and I have been dreading having a Will made and we know we need to do it with 2 children but we hated wasting the money when it's very straightforward. I have read most of this book and understand so much more about Wills then I ever thought I would not having any legal background. I love how it comes with all the papers you need to file and everything is so easy! And this is SOOOOO much cheaper. Even paying for the book is good because you at least know more of what you are doing. Lawyers don't tend to explain a lot especially in terms that's easy for the average person to understand. Time is money and they don't have time for that.

This is probably the best book on living trust. The author attempts to simplify the process and make it as easy as possible. He explains everything in plain English and minimizes legalese. Included in the publication are three fill-out forms.

Because of Louisiana's Napoleonic Law, this book can not help anyone living here. I went through the book a bit anyway and it seems to have a lot to offer, just not to me. I went back through the description and it does not let you know this point before you get it, very disappointing. Maybe I should know this, but then why would I need help from a book if I did.

I am an attorney (shyreslaw.com) and I highly recommend this book for those who could use a simple trust and want to avoid probate. Even if you decide to hire an attorney, this book is invaluable because it offers great insight into trusts and avoiding the probate system.

Attorney Denis Clifford wrote this great do-it-yourself book which provides everyone a way to create their own simple living trust. A CD-ROM is also provided so you can easily input your information and print it out.

For a more complete estate plan, the book introduces the importance of pourover wills in case the trust fails to encompass all the property. You may want to peruse Mr. Clifford's Simple Will Book as well (another recommended buy).

A generally easy to follow and excellent review of the material. However, a shortcoming is the lack of clearly definitive language for determining how to name mutual fund money markey accounts and life insurance policies in order to include in the Trust. For example, do you name yourself as initial trustee or the successor trustee as trustee of children's trusts as beneficiary on life policies? Do you make Trust owner and/or beneficiary of money market mutual funds. One additional crticism is that forms are not set up as "forms" per se. You must eliminate the "fill-in" language such as Name? for each blank.

The book is great nd quite useful. It guides step by step to make decisions about the construction of your Living Trust; however you may need a lawyer to review your work. It is worth to read the book because you are ready and wiser to discuss the issues with your lawyer. The price was also right. the store charged shipment fees even after they advertise free shipment with the purchase of more than thirty dollars.
