Item was ordered as a gift for a collector. When it was received it was bent and this makes the recipient very unhappy with the conditon of the book. Should have been shipped in a box vice an envelope where it was bent out of shape and now has a crease in it that won't flatten out.

I'm a casual comic reader.

Cesspool always interested me, great one liners as he kicks butt is classic action movie fodder. Where is the cesspool movie anyway.

Thought this was a good read with the skrulls and skrulls clones of the cesspool cesspool.

This book was amazing. Everything you've come to expect from Deadpool, hilarity, awesome action and of course the randomness from the mind of the regeneration' degenerate, not to mention a great story. If your a Deadpool fan I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

Deadpool gets into problems against not a bunch but an army of powerful skrulls. They have far better technology and weaponry but is amazing how Deadpool saves the day and the earth. I loled the whole comic xD
I am not going to spoil it as the twists and unpredictable plots are part of the fun; if you love Deadpool you are going to love this issue.

I’m coming into this comic not knowing anything about it. Haven’t even seen the movie although I’ve heard it’s good. But I had very little knowledge about what to expect other than he is a sarcastic smart a$$ and he can’t be killed.

I have to say it was quite entertaining. I really enjoyed how crazy and weird he is and how he talks his way into and out of these situations while causing maximum destruction at the same time.

The first 3 “comics” in this volume are about the Skrull Invasion and how they try to copy his DNA to create new Super Skrull Soldiers. Unfortunately for the Skrull they didn’t take into account everything wrong with Deadpool, so they end up with unexpected results.

The next 2 “comics” in this volume are about Zombies, and I love Zombies. I just wish this story line was a bit longer and seemed cut short, almost as if they cut out material in this storyline.

Overall, I love Deadpool. It unfortunately has DRM so -1.

Poor writing, poor use of onomotapoea!!! None of the sounds are accurate. The quirky quips and come backs are not. It is hard disbelieve it took a while team to create this sadness. There are actually thought and speech bubbles that are not at all visible to read. No thank you. Can someone pay me for my wasted time?

I borrowed this from "Prime Reading." I'd never read any Deadpool before (I'm not a super avid comic reader), so I thought I'd take the opportunity to do so. The story is fast-paced and funny in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. The nick name the "Merc with the mouth" fits titular character perfectly. I can see what critics mean as far as the comic book, as well as the movie (which I haven't seen and have no plans to), are definitely not kid-friendly. I don't have a problem with that, I had a fair idea of what i was getting into (and I'm an adult), so... LOL I really thought the art was fantastic. The fact that this supports guided-view directly on the Kindle Fire is great. I would have like just a bit more idea of what Deadpool's abilities are, but I realize this is just the first few issues. ;) I may have to read the connecting Wolverine volumes (20-25, I believe) some time.

Since I couldn't find this anywhere in the product description for some reason: This book collects Deadpool issues #1-12 and Thunderbolts #130-131. So, as another reviewer stated, do not buy "Dark Reign" if you buy this book (the issues of Dark Reign are in this volume) but purchase Deadpool, Vol. 3: X Marks the Spot which collects Deadpool #13-17 or wait around for someone at Marvel to realize that they released one large book labeled "vol 1" and forgot to do a large vol 2 collection? Who knows...

Having said that, this is a great book. Very well written and illustrated. The coloring style drastically changes at one point, but both are quite fun to look at. If you used to like Deadpool and at some point got completely sick of the over saturation of this character (I mean, Deadpool has one book where a bunch of version of him run around together including a kid version, dog version, lady version, zombie head...) then this is a good book. It is well written, not gimmicky at all and in no way feels like a Marvel money grab.

5 stars for the Secret Invasion comics, 3 stars for the zombie comics.

The secret invasion was brilliantly hilarious without being so graphically gross out that it was difficult to read. Really loved the stuff that Deadpool added to the mission. So funny. Art was really good. Crisp and clear.

The zombies were way more gross out than I really like, but it wasn't bad. Still really funny of course, especially trying to figure out exactly how many double crosses were going to take place before the end. Ending was definitely the best part. Artwork was okay, but like I said graphically disgusting is not really my thing.

I'm honestly just sick of Deadpool. Marvel has ruined many of my favorite lines by shoving this 1 note piece of sh*t character into everything. He's always the same tone, saying the same stupid jokes, and making stupid pop culture references. I decided to read this as free Prime thing for Kindle, mainly because it's one of the only Secret Invasion angles I never read. Would never actually spend money on any comic solely for him.

This is really no reflection on the graphic novel itself but rather on the Kindle version. I read on the Kindle because I can adjust the print to the size I can easily read (I'm old). Unfortunately I love graphic novels so I get suckered into getting these from time to time thinking that the store will have finally allowed me to zoom in on the text balloons but Noooooooo. So I guess I should accept that this standard technology will never be brought to all products in the Kindle line. Thanks for nothing here.

The Secret Invasion crossover has been less than epic compared to other Marvel events, and this is especially noticeable when reading the tie-ins. They are all padded, sometimes extensively, with unrelated material because the Secret Invasion part for the character/series is so short. Deadpool is no exception. This book is only 136 pages and half of that is unrelated to the event.

Deadpool plays a small but critical role in the invasion. He is responsible for getting the information that will bring down the Skrull queen. The first half of this trade covers that mission. As can be expected from the Merc with the Mouth, there is a lot of humor - in particular from Deadpool conversing with his brain. When he surrenders to the Skrulls, they get more than they bargained for.

The second half is a totally separate adventure wherein Deadpool takes on a job related to zombies. Yes, zombies. It was a fun little story but I was disappointed that Deadpool's involvement in the invasion didn't have more substance. It would have made more sense to combine this story with his Thunderbolts/Dark Reign story into one volume since they are directly related (instead of releasing that in a separate, tiny little trade as well).

Overall, if you're fan of Deadpool or a Secret Invasion completest, this is worth reading though it's definitely not worth full retail price. Readers can skip it without missing anything important to the crossover, but Deadpool is enjoyable for his own sake. Recommended.

Deadpool fights invaders from another world and zombies. Yeah, it had that. Does he survive in the end. Duh, this isn't the last Deadpool ever. Geesh, you act like this was an actual review. It is Deadpool, what did you expect...Martha Stewart recipes and a how to book on building bird houses? "Baby come back, any fool can see..."

As always Deadpool never fails to entertain. This book had me laughing my posterior (I wasn’t sure if saying something else would get me censored) off. I really liked the fact this was available on Kindle Unlimited so I was able to read it for “free” or at least close enough to “free”.

Deadpool is quickly becoming my favorite Marvel series. His witty quips give Spider-man a run for his money and his terminal dementia is comedic gold. In "Deadpool Volume 1" we join Deadpool as he takes on the Skrull invasion fulfilling a secret mission for Nick Furry. Hilarity insures as Deadpool convinces the Skrulls that he wants to join their ranks and allows them to copy his genetic code. Vast armies of Skrull/Deadpool clones abound and really, what's better than one Deadpool? thousands! A thoroughly enjoyable story line that isn't just slapstick and wisecracks. You get some clues to what Herry Osborn's angle is after the war and why he's on Deadpool's hit list. I look forward to reading Deadpool to see where his creative team will take him, but after reading Volume 1 I'm sure it's going to be one helluva joyride!

I really enjoyed the stories and deadpool as a character but especially the timeline in the last issue I was really confused. Overall i give this book a three out of 5 stars i am really glad that i learned about deadpool and saw why people like him.

Halfway through the book, i had lost so much interest in the story that i have up on it. If your a huge Deadpool comic fan, you might like it... But, other than that... I don't think you'll care about the other characters in the book enough to wanna finish it.

The two stories were good enough. Deadpool was Deadpool as ever. Problem for Kindle, sometimes Deadpool's other selfs like to talk in tiny text. In print you look close and squint. In digital you zoom in. Unfortunately they didn't bother to capture the comic in high enough detail. When you zoom in the tiny text is totally illegible.

The collection should have been broken into smaller collections. The chosen stories are thematically unrelated. The stories themselves are okay; funny, light, lacking in depth. The Skrull story had some nice twists but the zombie story was predictable.

Deadpool was one of my favorite characters, and I religiously followed his first solo unlimited series which ran from the late 1990s into the 2000s for 60+ issues. However, now that it seems as though almost everything now with Marvel is Deadpool-related, the character might be in danger of overexposure. Well, anyway, good to have him back in his own series.

In this collection, we find Deadpool (DP for short) trying to bring down a shipload of Skrulls hijacking a sports stadium with but one weapon - his wacky genetics. And, once that adventure is over, DP is hired by an old nemesis to rescue his wife from a mad plastic surgeon and his crew of zombies. Yes, it all sounds weird but, believe me, it works.

The Good: The writing. This title is written smart and funny, with some great subtle humor that will tickle older readers. Also, the fact that Marvel isn't attached to the Comics Code anymore gives them room to let Deadpool be Deadpool, and really let loose in a more adult arena. The art, which is in Marvel's now-standard pseudo-cartoony house style, is fine.

The Bad: Not much, really. There are some jarring places where you may find yourself asking, "Wait...what just happened? It doesn't quite make sense!" but those are few and far between.

All in all, a fine entry.

Obviously Deadpool has a fan base or the motion picture would not have happened. Having grown up with the classic mainstream comic book heroes, Deadpool is definitely different. Not my cup of tea but I respect the work.

Yet another excellent Deadpool story. One of the best characters in comics gets an excellent treatment by this particular story version. On Kindle the font is too small in a handful of thought bubbles but otherwise looks amazing.

I really enjoyed this comic! It has humor and you actually laugh at what's happening. It has nice graphics and was easy to follow. The only thing that drove me crazy were the parts that you couldn't read because they were so small.

Always been a passive fan of Deadpool. I love the character and his dialogue, but never actively read his comics. This was a really good introduction to his universe. It's interesting to see how he fits into the Marvel Universe.

Meet Deadpool, AKA Wade Wilson. He's a disfigured and extremely mentally unstable mercenary who really loves money and general insanity. Don't let that disturb you; he's excellent at his job with proficiency in martial arts, markmanship, and swordsmanship. The first story arc in the graphic novel features the Skrulls, alien shapeshifters bent on taking over the Earth. Deadpool convinces the Skrulls that he is on their side after an impressive fight (won by Deadpool of course) and they decide to clone tons of him. Has Deadpool bitten off more than he can chew with the army of Skrull-Deadpools? Can he stop them before they take over the world or will he just get so caught up in his insanity that he won't care? The second story arc starts with a man hiring Deadpool to rescue his wife who was turned into a zombie by a plastic surgeon. Will he emerge from the job unscathed and with money in hand? Is a normal chair more or less awesome or comfortable than a chair made of plastic explosives?

Deadpool has just become my favorite Marvel character. I've never read any Deadpool comics before this one, but I was vaguely familiar with the character. (I also knew he was viciously butchered in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.) His insanity and spontaneity make his stories memorable, engaging, and extremely funny. He constantly speaks to himself in his head (in about 3 different voices), breaks out into random song, and breaks the fourth wall. He laughs in the face of danger and never plans for anything. The people around him are always trying to figure out what his plans are, but he doesn't even know what his plans are. He switches sides and betrays enemies often. It's so funny how things come out in the end to his advantage through accident and coincidence. He is a character that revels in his craziness and has fun with a job he loves.

I read it in one sitting at a Barnes and Noble. I don't think I had ever laughed so hard at a superhero-type comic. The only problem I had with the graphic novel was the first story was part of a larger one and I wanted to know more and maybe have some more background information. I really want to go out and read all the Deadpool comics I can get my hands on.
