I'm glad Anne has continued this series. I enjoy the mystery combined with information on customs and cultures. My favorite part was Danny Duke's mother's tale of Tavootz and her impassioned chant. Good to see Leaphorn helping out again. Loved how the current case dovetailed with one of his old cases.

I love these characters and the setting. Hillerman does an excellent job of writing in her father's footsteps (sorry, I can't figure out how to fix the mixed metaphor). She kept me guessing about what was going to happen right to the end. And I always feel closer to nature after reading a Hillerman (Anne or Tony) novel.

Ms. hillerman has the awesome responsibility of carrying on her father's legacy.
I admire her courage and appreciate her efforts.
Please give her the same respect our reserved for her father.
She does not disappoint.

I wish she would put Chee as the protagonist again. Bernie is not that interesting of a character.
She's pushy with Chee; he does the cooking and house cleaning; and there is Darlene, the petulant, whiny sister.

Great read. Tony hillermans voice comes through Anne's writing. I'm so very happy she's keeping Chee and Leaphorn alive. I love the Four Corners area and travelled there extensively with my husband and friend. My husband is gone now but these books bring great memories to life. I can visualize the country and I think it is time for another visit

Anne Hillerman has continued her father's crime novels set in the four corners area of the Navajo Nation. her character development has been great and the series is worthy of a re-read every couple of years and has us anticipating the next in the series.

Anne continues these stories in the same method as her father, Tony. Very similar writing style. I can picture the scenery with her vivid descriptions. Great storytelling and she keeps you involved until the last page.

Disorganized and wondering with no tension and conflicts developed. Too many characters and stories. I have read every one of Tony Hillermans books and something is missing in this book by Anne Hillerman. Where did the mystery and the twists go along with Leaphorns inscrutable mind and Chee’s piece of the puzzle with Navajo flavors.

Nice to see the characters again. Lieutenant Leaphorn's contribution was almost an aside and that was a little disappointing.

Begins with a bang (literally) and then becomes bogged down. Don't want to discourage Ms. Hillerman from writing another, though.

The taste of Native culture in Hillerman's books is always welcome. The characters are like old friends. But the suspenseful stories are the main attraction. This one had me reading until late to find out who the guilty party was. I didn't guess correctly. But that's part of the fun. Wish it wasn't over.

I enjoyed every minute of reading this novel! Anne Hillerman does a great job of adding her voice without losing her father’s. I look forward to reading more stories of Manuelito, Cher, and Leaphorn!

I have read with much interest your extension of your father's work. At first I felt you embraced the female character Bernie too strongly at the expense of Chee and Leaphorn, but as your writing style smoothed out, the characters assumed stronger places. Now that I live in Arizona, the places mentioned are even more real to me. Much enjoyed and looking forward to many more!

The glimpse of some of the Native American beliefs and customs is enjoyable. The story is tight and enjoyable. Pleasant and also attention holding. A good read for a cold, wet day sitting in front of the fireplace.

Chee and Bernie lead the way with Leaphorn batting cleanup. An interesting mystery set in the Southwest where a Grand Canyon development, protestors and tribes come together sort things out, or are they.

Thank you Anne for keeping these characters alive. Your book was a continuation of those moments from Tony Hillerman. My father introduced me to these books. I love each an everyone of them. Keep writing!

A good addition to the Tony Hillerman series. Lately I have been getting recommendations for female authors, JA Jance being one, but I don't mind. I like the characters and enjoy the stories. (I am male.)

Anne Hillerman does justice to her father's legacy with this book. I had mourned the loss of her father's story telling skills, but now know he has a worthy successor. I recommend this book to all those who loved the previous stories of the Navajo Tribal Police, and to new adventurers.

Anne has captured the spirit of her Father's writing and the heart of his characters. I enjoyed reading about some of my favorite characters as they mature together. The mystery involved is intriguing and I like finding out more about the Native American culture in the 4 corners area.

I have read the entire series from start to finish . More then once . I was devastated when the new series had the legendary lieutenant shot . It only gets worse as he continues to be drawn into the picture of a handicapped old man . Miss him terribly .

Anne Hillerman has done an excellent job of picking up where Tony Hillerman left off. A good mystery story along with interesting characters. And of course the descriptions of the desert area and the differing cultures of the native people always make me want to visit there again.

I am so happy the characters her father introduced to us continue to entertain. The plot twists keep me engaged until the end. The shift to a primarily feminine heroine is a refreshing perspective. A good read.

This was a really nice addition to the series begun by Anne Hillerman's father, Tony. She does great credit to the legacy, albeit with a different balance among the character's than Tony maintained. Anne's stories tend to circle more around Manuelito than they do either Leaphorn or Chee, the focal characters in the stories Tony wrote. Still a delight.

To be drawn into the Navajo and other Indian cultures makes for a very interesting read. I enjoy the geographic settings very much as well! Having read from Anne's fathers previous books about Leaphorn, it's great to still be reading about him, as he is an important and very likeable character.

Song of the Lion was excellent. I loved Tony Hillerman's books and I really like how how Anne Hillerman has developed the characters in the three Chee and Manuelito novels she has written. Suspenseful and very well written. Looking forward to the next book.
