The action never slowed down, from the first chapter to the very end. Although the story could have been developed to a deeper level, it was certainly entertaining, and I plan to read Matt Drake #2 right away.

I truly enjoyed this first of five Matt Drake books. It is very hard for me to stay interested in some books, but this one was good. Now on to the second book, "The Blood King Conspiracy".

I would recommend this book. very good read. Hope the rest of the books are as good as the first.

I gave it four stars because I expected something a little different at the end (I don't want to spoil it, so I won't explain), not that it was a bad story, it was a very good story and I am reading the next three in the series.
A Novel (Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase) - The Revelation Code :: A Novel (Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase) - The Hunt for Atlantis :: The Gates of Hell (Matt Drake Book 3) :: A Novel (Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase) - Return to Atlantis :: A Novel (Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase) - Kingdom of Darkness

This book promised everything but delivered very little. The characters were not well formed and the mythical themes in the book not well developed. I kept reading to the end, but it took quite a lot of motivation as I found myself feeling rather impatient with the plot and the very poorly developing love story. Didn't really inspire me to read any more of the series

I like the character development and the plot, but was not as satisfied with the ending. It would still be a good cliffhanger if it addressed some of the other characters as well as Matt and Kennedy.

What a rush! I could not put this down. Leadbetter has crafted an adventure of epic proportions. Rich characters, incredible action and mythic treasures and mysteries.
This entire series will please almost any fiction fan.

This book can best be described as blood and guts. The author has you going from almost page 1 right the whole book. Characters are very believable, very hard hitting a real page turner. Will read book 2 and 3

I enjoyed the combination of archeology, religion & science. The story keeps you reading & as this is the 3rd of a series you feel you know the characters & want to know what happens to them. I hope there will be another in this series. Unlike some kindle books I've read there were no typos, poor grammer or mispellings that I noticed.

This is the perfect book for Action Adventure, Military Mystery and anyone into Norse Mythology lovers. It has everything, twists, turns , insane military mercinaries and great bad guys, fully developed characters and it keeps you hooked until the end and beyond. Warning: If you read this, you will purchase books 2-4. I loved them All. Beware of the Blood King...

Just finished the first book in the Matt Drake series "The Bones of Odin". The book reads very fast, the action is almost constant. The plot was fairly decent and not too predictable. If you like Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Matt Reilly you will love this book. Starting book 2 now, can't wait to finish that one and move onto the 3rd book. Buy it, read it and enjoy it.

Wonder if he is a new author? Story while interesting enough was somewhat weak/improbable and dialogue weak at time. Kept my interest and liked it well enough to download the second book. I'll give him another try.

Ultimately I'm a little disappointed.

I'm actually not that hard a reader to satisfy, but Mr Leadbater wasn't really able to do so. I felt that some of the characters were a little wet and overly sentimental. I also found the action to be a little undetailed, disjointed and not that gripping.

Sure, this was a decent enough yarn, but you want action in this genre with an ex SAS guy,go straight fir Andy McDermott.

Before I buy a book I read the reviews, generally a couple of 5, 3, and 1 stars to see a spectrum. I can only imagine how hard, as a writer it is to receive an average or worse review, but that's what guides my purchase decisions and hopefully this will help you guide yours (and perhaps the author to continue to up his game).

Currently I rate the likes of Mark Dawson and James Rollins. There are plenty of other authors whose new books I greatly look forward to.

I can't say if I will read the next Drake novel, there are lots of other new authors I have on my Kindle to discover, hopefully they will inspire me to follow them without question.

When I've forgotten the disappointments I found in this book, perhaps I'll buy the next one. Hopefully you get more out if it than I did.

The plot held some interest and kept me reading far longer than the book deserved, so I gave it 2 stars rather than the less-than-one it otherwise merited. The dialogue in just awful; it is corny, stupid and comes across like a bad joke, poorly told. Imagine Beavis and Butthead in an action story. The characters are cardboard and their actions and emotions are repetitive: protect Ben because I promised I would, page later: must protect Ben, 2 pages later: promised I'd protect Ben. I really got sick of Ben. I really got sick of all of the characters. Would have loved to see how the book ended but it was just too painful to keep reading.
