Frog and Toad books are great for early readers. They're written so that a middle of the year first grader should be able to read them easily. The story lines are subtle, so they're great for making inferences, and asking questions to develop higher order thinking skills.

I have loved the Frog and Toad stories since discovering them for my little boy. Recently I decided to reread them all, and this is certainly my favorite, most especially the story "Alone." Lobel's illustrations are perfect, and his understatement powerful in portraying the glories and struggles of deep and faithful friendship.

True friendship never goes out of style. Relationships are a challenge but a true friend always comes through. These have been my favorites since my children were small and they all have their own children now. I still read these to the Grandchildren and they love em.

These Frog & Toad books have good stories with a lesson behind them. Elementary school kids or younger enjoy them very much. No animation! I have read this to school children and my own daughter. It is also a beginning reader for the learning child. Boys or girls seem to enjoy the book.

GREAT book on CD for the littlest listeners! My 2 year old will listen to a whole CD of these stories without getting bored. Good for days when you want to let your kid watch TV all afternoon but you feel guilty... Ha!

We really enjoy the stories of Toad and Frog. My 3yr old loves to 'follow' the stories in the book along with the CD. She knows the stories by heart. Mr. Lobel does a nice reading of his stories. It's interesting to hear how he voices the characters versus how I usually read them outloud. My child will often spend an afternoon on her bed with the books, listening to stories for an hour or so.

Our great-grandsons love these books. They younger boy is a little young for the Wind in the Willows, which his brother and I adore, so we read his "toad" book and he listens while I read the "Wind.." to his big brother.

This is a wonderful book for children who are tired of reading 'school books'. The story of Frog and Toad is exactly what I was looking for. We read it to my children 30 years ago and the students I teach love it now.

My 8 yr old daughter loves this book series! She thinks they are very funny and loves anything to do with animals. Very good and simple first reader. Highly recommend for any kids that are starting to learn to read.

A non-negotiable childhood must have! There is simply nothing more classic and Arnold Lobel reading it is a priceless treasure. My siblings and I listened to this collection (on cassette tapes) as children and they are equally as entertaining now that I am an adult. The stories are calming and funny.

One of the best audio collections we've heard. Kids and parents enjoy listening. Read slow enough for young children (most audiobooks are not) and the author does a great job making it sound entertaining.

We like the pictures and we like the stories, said Sam, age 3, and Eddie, age 5.

They're great, said Sam.

They're not great, said Eddie. They're nice. They're good.

I like the ghost story best, said Sam. I like the big bad ghost, because he's bad.

I like The Kite best, said Eddie. I like how the kite flies so high, and I like how the kite thuds down out of the sky.

I read the different chapters to my three year old grandchild. She enjoyed the stories and picked out the various characters & answered my questions pertaining to each chapter. I liked that each chapter stood alone.

Five stories of Frog and Toad. In "Down the Hill", Frog convinces Toad that a sled ride is safe and fun. Frog recounts his search for spring which is around the corner in "The Corner". Toad goes for ice cream and returns a monster though he doesn't know it in "Ice Cream". "The Surprise" is a great story of real friendship. And Toad's imagination congers multiple mishaps for Toad who is late in "Christmas Eve". He didn't have to worry. These two are a favorite for children, through their many adventure their friendship always holds true. The audio tape adds an independence to enjoying these tales.
