*Spoiler Alert* Once again Damen and Ever don't get the antidote. I am completely done reading this series! Damen and Ever have had the antidote problem since the ending of Blue Moon. I cannot stand when an author will drag out the same problem over many books. Get a new plot already!

This series as finally gotten better and it's about time. I read the first book in the series and I liked it but after Evermore it all went down hill. Ever never seem to learn from her mistakes, she didn't grow at all and she kept making stupid choices.
The story in the previous books wasn't what I thought it could be and the only ray of hope was Jude who didn't come along until book 3. Jude was a new character that was so unlike the other characters and he was refreshing. I was tired of the same story of Ever making stupid choices, Damen keeping secrets, Roman being evil as hell, and Haven being a complete mess. Finally in Night Star things started to change, and I didn't feel like I was getting the same old story. Ever is making better choices, Roman is gone, Damen is starting to learn his lesson, Haven is still a hot mess and Jude is Jude.
Ever has learned from her past, she is still impatient but she is thinking things through a little more, she is thinking about others a little more and she is following her instincts. She has become a stronger, wiser person and I love the change.
There is one book left, Everlasting and from what I read in Night Star this book has to wrap-up a whole new mystery to be solved. I have know idea what the answer is to the current problem or how Ever is involved, but I will be finding out.

This book is exactly why I wish authors would not attempt to write a series comprised of more than 3 books. They become little more than redundant fillers. Such is the case with "Night Star." I've enjoyed the series so far. It isn't the absolute best series I've ever read, but it's very entertaining and began with a very good idea. The execution of it has become monotonous, however.
In this book, Ever and Haven are still fighting. Haven becomes increasingly more greedy and her ego more and more inflated until she's despicable. You can't wait to get rid of her. In fact, for most of the book, I was simply hoping Ever would kill her and be done with it. The fact that Ever still tries to reason with her and offer her "a way out" makes it hard to take Ever seriously. How could anyone be so stupid? I realize you and Haven had a good friendship, but obviously, since Roman entered the picture, that's over. Get over it. Move on. Quit putting your own life (not to mention Jude's and Damen's as well) in jeopardy trying to save her.
Speaking of Jude, he was quite good in this book. At one point, he even grows a backbone and refuses to allow Ever to run to him every time she's upset with Damen. In this book, she must face her true feelings for Jude and Dame and make a choice between them. (Not that this particular story line hasn't already happened before...yawn.) You know who she chooses; there's no point in even mentioning it. Twilight was a story about Bella & Edward, and this is a story about Ever & Damen. Jude offers a fun diversion, however.
Miles is also more likable in this book. He's become more confident and is more "in the loop" now. The main problem (between Haven & Ever) is resolved and it seems that Ever will never again doubt her true love.
Sounds good, right? Not exactly, because you see, the antidote is still missing. Why? One would imagine that if they actually resolved this issue, the series would end, and Ms. Noel would then be forced to actually think of a new story to tell. It's much easier to simply drag out this one as long as possible. No need to worry about writer's block. Just throw in a little conflict that won't interfere with the major one I thought about 4 books ago, and voila! Another hefty royalty payment. It's a bit insulting that authors such as Alyson Noel continue to write "fluff" that does not contain enough real material to stand alone as its own book. My only consolation is that I didn't spend my own money on this book.

Seventeen-year-old Ever Bloom's life changes dramatically following last year's car crash. Not only does she lose her mom, dad, sister and dog, she has to move from her home in Oregon to the unknowns of California to live with her aunt. And that's not all. She begins seeing peoples' auras, knowing their thoughts and observing the future. After finally allowing the handsome and mysterious Damen back into her life, she learns the unbelievable truth: she, like Damen, is an immortal with incredible powers.
Some may think it's pointless for an immortal to get a high school diploma, but Ever is determined to do just that. As she and Damen begin their senior year, it seems that many secrets will be revealed. Miles uncovered some information during his trip over the summer that could expose Ever's immortality. Then Ever stumbles across some disturbing details about a past life, and she demands that Damen explain himself. This shoves a kink into their relationship and forces Ever to question her choice of Damen over Jude. And speaking of secrets, ever since her aunt Sabine found out a bit of the truth about what's been happening in her ward's life, she's been going over the edge with worry. As a result, every time the two meet up at home, a heated battle erupts. Sabine is convinced that Ever is disturbed, maybe even a bit crazy, and refuses to accept her for who she is. Ever tries to remember to appreciate everything her aunt has done for her, but her patience is drying up as the animosity brews between them.
Life away from home isn't very peaceful either. With Roman gone, so is the hope to get their hands on the antidote that would allow Ever and Damen to finally be able to touch again. Or maybe not. Ever remembers the antidote splashed onto Roman's shirt; the resulting stain left behind a sample that may lead to a recipe. She's positive that Haven would have saved that shirt as a link to her beloved boyfriend. Now she just has to get her hands on that article of clothing. But that may prove to be a bit difficult as her former friend now hates Ever with every fiber that's left of Haven's shrinking heart.
Because of this animosity, Ever knows that a huge confrontation with Haven is inevitable. So while Ever watches her float to the top of the popularity pyramid, with her newfound beauty, wealth and power, she's peering around corners waiting for the fury to erupt. Both know the battle is coming, and Ever is preparing herself for the ultimate fight. Both know that it promises to be a battle to the death --- which for an immortal means an eternity in Shadowland.
Alyson Noël continues to write amazing stories that sizzle. NIGHT STAR jumps right into high action and never slows down, not even after the last page. Her writing is intense and vivid, pulling readers into the depths of her imagination. She cleverly weaves in the horrors of bullying, and the wounding effects on the hearts and souls of those involved. She also offers up a few inspirational passages, including Miles's speech about his reasons for remaining mortal, that may remind readers to appreciate the gifts of life.
Another inspiring passage comes from Ever's other friend, Ava. She offers these words of wisdom: "When you put all of your focus on a problem, you just get more of the problem. But if you put your focus on being of help, then your energy is directed toward the help instead of the problem... So basically, whenever you're looking for a solution, you are feeling positive emotion --- and whenever you're looking at a problem, you're feeling negative emotion, which as you know, never gets us anywhere. But once you take the focus off yourself and your wants, and instead turn it toward how getting what you want might also benefit someone else, well then, you can't help but succeed... That's the key behind any success."
Fans will look forward to the next book --- releasing in the summer of 2011 --- with bittersweet enthusiasm, as it will be the final installment in the series.

I was a little hesitant with reading this one. The back and forth in the story was really starting to get to me. Not to mention some of the choices that Ever has made along the way. I had hope that the author could redeem the story little.
I was both right and wrong in that aspect. Of course Ever still has some trust issues with Damen. She's horrible at jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst. I also don't really like her attitude towards her aunt. I wonder if she realizes that she sounds a bit like Haven when she stars spotting off that her aunt doesn't know what's really going on and refuses to accepts things she's been told. Damen was ok. I wish he would stop hiding things from Ever because you know a lot of this heartache could be avoided. Plus, its weird how he rushed to the defense of everyone else. And Haven...wow. I knew it was coming, but she's a really violent character. I'm glad we have some resolution there, because I don't think I could have stood another book with the same theme.
I was so HAPPY to finally see some resolution with some story lines. Ever finally choose, and I think it's a good choice and she fully understands what she's doing. Plus, I think we have a better understanding of Damen and all their past lives together. Damen was sugar coating a lot of it.
I thought this book was ok, even though it had a lot of the things I was hoping might happen. I'm also hoping that the next book in the series is the last. There's not much left to do!

I actually found myself liking this book so much better than the last on. I've read some mixed reviews on here and other places but I don't feel that they are all right. Mostly I've heard that there has not been even a tiny bit of resolution in the story line. Well that's not really true while they still don't have the antidote some things have progressed. I think Ever has finally started acting like an adult. Although it happened almost halfway through the book it was still a big step forward. What I fail to understand is how she keeps making these big mistakes why didn't she watch her whole past lives in the beginning when she first learned of the hall of records. I would have especially since knowledge is power and she needed the upper hand on many occasions.
I do however also hate Haven god I'm so glad at the way that ended.
What will piss me off though is if in the next book she starts to doubt Damien again. She loves him she's not sure because he lies to her has been the story from the beginning.
I think if you loved the first book but were unsure of the last one check this one out anyway you may find that you love the series again.

SPOILERS below:
I felt like Night Star brought nothing new to the plot. Ever is still looking for the antidote, she is still struggling over her feelings for Jude, and Haven is still evil. The only difference is that Roman is gone. I was originally interested in finding out the big secret from Damien's past but that turned out to be a non-issue. It's mentioned once and frankly Ever's offense over it seemed fake. Why should she be upset by the past when she has forever to look forward to? Why didn't she just ask Damien about it instead of running out like a child having a tantrum? It just didn't make sense to me. Honestly, I was happy when Haven died - finally something happened in this book! I'm glad this series is nearing the end. I'm not even really concerned with reading the last book to find out why part of Summerland is turning dark and swampy. Evermore was amazing but since then the series has just gone downhill. I only read this far because I had hopes that the author could turn it around. I'll still read the last book, if only because I can't let a series go unfinished.

Haven believes former best friend Ever killed her boyfriend Roman. She vows revenge anyway she can. In fact she considers the best avenue to get back at Ever is an assault on her enemy's boyfriend Damen. Her plan is simple: reveal the dark secrets to Ever that Damon hides from one of Ever's past lives.
When she learns the truth, Ever is caught between a rock and a hard place. She has difficult decisions to make. She must decide whether to destroy her former BFF turned adversary with a one way eternal ticket to Shadowland and whether she feels her relationship with Damen supersedes his secrets.
The fifth Immortals young adult fantasy (see Shadowland and Dark Flame) is more personal as the story line moves forward the overarching theme that had slowed down a bit due to the heroine having psychological doubts that she did not have before she erred. Although Damen's dark secret does not come close to the earth shattering end of the universe, fans of the saga will enjoy Ever's latest adventure as she struggles between her former BFF who she still loves as a sister and her beloved Immortal soul mate.

This book is boring, the characters are childish, dialog is embarrassing and silly, there seems to be no plot. With a series, the author needs to skillfully fill in the backstory early enough that a person picking up the book as an intro to a series should be able to know whats going on without having to read every prior book. I was still lost halfway through. I felt this was just filler trying to stretch the series to make more money. I don't like being manipulated by a publisher. I disliked the characters from page 1 and found nothing intriguing about their situation. A waste of my time to read it, can't imagine why the author felt the need to waste the time to write it. Very poorly done.

This series is totally cheesy, but I’m enjoying it. Not entirely sure why, but I do. The mythology is a bit funky, but different from anything I’ve read before. I’m not sure how I’m liking how the love story is dragging along and I’m not entirely sure that I like the hero, but I’m going to keep going.

I was surprised how much i liked this new addition to the Immortal series by Alyson Noel. I was starting to get very sick of this series towards thee end, it seemed like each book was just dragging things out. Thank god that Night Star came threw, night star has less (somewhat confusing) magic involved, more problems of Ever's love triangle with Jude and Damen (which i love!) and more mystery towards the end making it hard to not want the 6th and Final book right after you finish this. If you are reading the Immortal series and feel your gettting sick of it, PLEASE continue it, Night Star was just as good as evermore and blue moon (which are the best in the series). I know I am very happy i didnt give up on this series, and cannot wait for the 6th and finale book!

Well everyone if you like books that have the exact same ending in every book, this series is for you! The endings for the last three books have ended exactally the same, in my personal opinion the only book in the series worth reading is the first one. Allison really had something going in the first one, it was insteresting, something brand new that I had never seen before, and to top it all off and interesting love story.
The second one wasn't too bad, sequals are rarely better then the first, to be honest i read the first 30 pages then skipped to the end.
The third book brought a new character, and an interesting new stuggle, ending with Ever and Damien unable to have contact with eachother.
The fourth....tried to read it, boring, ended the same as the third book.
The fifth book....was getting annoyed with the whole plot picked it up in the book store read the end, only to find that it ended exactally the same as the last 2 books! Wow! how interesting! (sarcastically)
All i know is that i won't be wasting my money picking up the sixth book, im fed up with the whole story. I may go to the store and read the end, but thats it.

*Warning: Spoilers*
I have never, ever despised a character as much as I did Haven in this book. I was all right with her in books one through three. In Dark Night, she started to get annoying, but I continued to deal with her. This book, though, just through me over the edge.
All in all, it was a good read. I actually enjoyed the book...for two main reasons, though. The first being that Jude played a good role in it, and I really enjoy his character. Even though his efforts to help Ever always end in tragedy, the fact of the matter is they are out of love, and there's no doubt he loves her.
Now, on to my second reason for enjoying the book. I actually hate when people post spoilers, but I am going to be a hypocrit for right now. I LOVED when Ever finally killed Haven. In fact, I found myself rushing to finish this book just to read when that final moment would happen.

The first book held so much promise, but after reading the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and now 5th,
I am utterly devoid of any hope for this series.
The author creates random problems just to keep the series going and honestly it is just painful to read.
It just keeps getting worse and far less interesting the longer is continues.
Out of curiosity since I have the books, I will keep reading until the end.
I wish I didn't even read the first one though.

Former best friend Haven still hates Ever. Haven still insists that Ever killed Roman on purpose. Haven will stop at nothing to destroy Ever, Damen, and Jude. Man does she play dirty, Haven uses Ever's fears and the secret past with Damen. But what is a girl to do when the man you love is dead and all you can do to revenge. I give this book 4 stars.

There is defintely a pattern that the author follows when writing these books, either intentional or unintentional. I hate how in each book she causes a rift between Damen and Ever. Whether it be friends or enemies coming in between them or just the past it is always something. I am REALLY hoping in the last book does not do that. One would think they would be past some of these problems (like her jealousy) or his inability to tell her about the bad side of her past (instead he chooses to hide it and it comes out at the worst possible time). This divides them when it should be pushing them closer and uniting them and it doesnt at first; later it does of course. Also like the rest of the books she gives the characters the strength of mind they need to band together in the 60-100 pages to defeat whatever enemy they are defeating. Come on can't the author be a little more original and actually keep the two together for once? I think their relationship is not as developed as it should/could be had they been more united.

I was really excited to get this book. Haven really bugged me in the last book and this one, it was just more of that. I read the previous books and loved them, and flew right threw them. This book was so slow, I was bored the first half of the book. It ended pretty well though. I love Alyson Noel, and I love her books, but I just thought that this book could of had a little more to it. I can't wait to read Everlasting. I am a little sad that, that will be the last book, but I am hoping it has a good ending. Or maybe Alyson Noel can pick up again and do a second series with Ever and Damen. I doubt it, but who knows.

Ever is a young girl with some unique problems. I think we've all wished we could do what Ever does, without realizing how troublesome it could be. Damen turns out to be a source of happiness for Ever, but he also causes some of the new problems Ever must face and overcome. A bewitching tale of friends, enemies, love and loss. I enjoyed the entire series and I think most young readers will.

I have been following this series from the beginning. I have always thought it to be okay. It has had some interesting moments. In fact, book 4 was quite intertaining. However, I must say that this book, book 5, was very disappointing. Noel leaves you waiting for something that never happens. I am not sure why the publisher bothered to publish a 260 page book that tells you nothing. In addition to being incredibly short, it has very few meaningful events. I understand they want to leave the reader hanging and asking for more, but please, if the next book was not the last one I would give up on the series altogether. At this point I would have preferred a twist where Jude and Ever end up together than the nonsense I have been put through. After all, Damen does nothing in the story. Jude is a much more interesting character than Damen will ever be. For someone with super powers, Damen is quite boring. Ever is also becoming dumber with time. I read many styles of books and I enjoy the young adult plots, but I have found this book very weak. I have never thought of this series to be a Jane Eyre, a Twilight or Mortal Instruments, but please, this is ridiculous. I gave it 2 stars simply for the fact that I found it very gutsy to publish this book. Even for an young adult series this is too silly and has an EXTREMELY WEAK PLOT.
Read it because you may need it for the final book. And again, maybe you don't.

I loved Evermore, the first book in this great series. I was so in love with it I ran to the store to pick up Blue Moon, and then sat and waited for the next two to come out so that I could read them too.....but was left frusrated, and wondering if I would even bother with the next one.
Boy was I glad I did. Night Star is Deff in my opinion a good book, that is getting the immortal series back on track. I felt like books 3 and 4 were ok, but seemed to go in circles, especialy the whole Roman and Ever almost sleeping together three or four times in the last book, it got so old. Night Star starts off great and in my opinion gets better and better. If you were a fan of the first two books you will deff love this one. And if your a Miles fan like me you will be glad to know he is in this book alot more and gives alot of cute lines. Great book, and it made me fall in love all over again.

I loved this series, but it seemed like the passion between the two characters wasn't as intense as the previous books. It had a good ending, nothing super exciting like I was expecting, but at least the series is over and she won't try to write another book for this series.

The highly anticipated Night Star is the fifth book in the installment of the Immortal series. With one last book left in the series (due out in summer of 2011) it is no wonder how Alyson Noël's Immortal series has 2 million copies in print. It is addictive, riveting, and an experience you'll never forget.
In this epic love story Ever and Damen confront angry rivals and envious friends. Their biggest goal--to be together forever. After struggling for centuries to be together, Ever and Damen combat one final face-off. But will they ever find the antidote that will allow them to be together? And as if that wasn't a challenge on its own, Haven causes turmoil and lots of drama, and more than determined to take Ever down. And Sabine, her aunt who has custody of her, is not exactly being the easiest to live with at the moment.
A love triangle between Jude, Ever, and Damen continue until the very end. When Ever discovers a terrible secret about the past regarding Damen, she faces her greatest fears as she strives to find answers from Jude.

I thought that by now this series would have gone somewhere and I kept reading hoping that it would. I however was sadly mistaken. This story just drags on and on and on. I regret purchasing it at all. Its over all completely predictable and the same thing happens through every one of the books. The only reason why I am purchasing the next books is because its the conclusion. I can never leave a book series unfinished no matter how horrible and this one ranks right up there with some of the worst.
On top of all of that Ever has become completely and utterly annoying and has been that way since book 3.

this story has some interesting points to it but how long is this plot going to draw out? Im getting tired of Evers self pity. Her and Damen just should do it and get it out of the way and if the author wants to keep writing and keep readers intrested a new plot would be nice. Roman was the most intresting character and i dont think he should have died quite yet. All in all i will keep on buying these books but i hope that they will become intresting again.

Evermore was a pretty decent story. It was a different take on immortality that was not related to vampires. The series went downhill from there. I have liked each book progressively less. This one, though, has hit the lowest of the low. I am yet to read a review that refers to this, so I am going to bring it up. Alyson Noel's excessive use of the words gaze and shrug (or derivatives of them) is absolutely appalling. I should go through and count how many times gaze, gazes, and gazing was used. It has to be at least 50 times and I am not done with the story yet. I am surprised that neither she nor editing caught this. It is quite comicable and could become a new drinking game.

Well, I think I've said everything in my previous reviews, so let me just re-list them: -Crazy plot jumps. Copies of other YA works. Shallow characters. No good descriptive detail, simply re-using the same phrases. And many more. Bottom line: Don't read. Don't even TOUCH this infernal thing!

This book is so intense. With Haven trying to kill Jude and Ever no one knows who will win. The new part of Summerland is so creepy and mysterious you don't know what to thinkof it. Damen and evers relationship gets more and more complicated. Then when Evers life flashes before her eyes she realizes that Damen has and always will be the one.
