If you were raised by parents from the Deep South—-Mother from Georgia, Dad from Alabama. You spent every vacation visiting both sets of southern relatives, then you’ll understand! See you down yonder. Nita

A family holiday and hilarious romp through Chancey, Georgia. Love all the characters. Read this one in one day, Really hope Carolina and Jackson realize what a wonderful family and blessing they have in book 3

Some interesting characters--although some aspects of them were a little unbelievable . However the thing that bothered me the most were grammatical and use of misspelled words . The teenagers would use the incorrect " me and whoever are going out ", but surely an adult who has worked in a library would know that she should put the other person first and when the pronoun is the subject , it is "I". i.e. Shannon and I went to the store. I know they 're Southern, but not illiterate. It happened so often that it out my teeth on edge.

Chancey Family Lies: Chancey Books Book 2 is written by Kay Dew Shostak. It takes place in Chancey, Georgia at the B&B belonging to Carolina and Jackson Jessup.
Carolina is now back to being a full-time mother and running the B&B. Savannah tried running it for a while; but now she is at school and in the Thanksgiving Festival in Chancey so had no time for it. Right now, nearing Thanksgiving, the B&B is closed and won’t reopen until January. Carolina is working to get everything ready for her folks to arrive for Thanksgiving. There are groceries to put up, the house to be cleaned, their rooms to be gotten in order, as well as meals to be decided on. Carolina is planning a first-rate Thanksgiving dinner for the first time ever including her parents. Things begin snowballing on her as usual. She is dragged into the Festival, her parents arrive early, her father gets her into providing coffee and pie for what seems the entire town, and Will, her eldest, shows up with a group of boys and girls to stay for Thanksgiving.
Now she heads for Christmas- What will happen now? She seems to be pulled further and further away from Jackson, her parents are staying until the New Year, her best friend may be charged with a crime, and her life doesn’t seem like her own. Where will it end?

I read the stories in reverse, but loved them equally. In Chancey Family Lies, Carolina Jessup is back, and she's still discovering that sometimes introverts have to suffer extroverts. Her hilarious journey continues with some very endearing twists and turns.

I couldn't wait to order this one up the moment I finished book 1, and I loved how we got more backstory and depth to the whole town's cast of characters. Maybe because they were no longer new to me (after book 1), however, I did not feel I got the same bang for my buck on the story line in book 2. Kind of like in movie trilogies, where the first so GREAT, the second is HUH?, and you leave the theatre still hoping the third will be DANG, YEAH. This is still a 4-star summer read and the people and town are coming more alive. I am definitely looking forward to more Chancey!

I really wanted to like this book as it was my first of the series. It moved so slowly I felt like I wanted to light a fire under the author to get it moving. Almost like reading a diary entry day after day after day. I swear I had the plot figured out as soon as it was introduced. There were only two main story lines and the rest was kind of jumbled all together. I think it could have been a great read but just didn't get there until the very end and then that was it. I can't say I disliked it was just very disappointed. That's why I gave it 3 stars. For effort.

This is the second book of a series, that really grabbed me in, and had me reading all 5 that have been published, so far. I just escaped whatever I was doing, and spent the rest of the day reading, wishing I had a muffin to go with my tea! As the day turned to evening, I wished I had had a bottle of wine, to continue until bedtime, but that probably would have put me to sleep, and I had to read to the end. I went to be at 2:30 am! Loved the book!

All the people who live in Chancey live different lives and have various stories, but in many ways they seem like one big, usually happy, family. It doesn't take long to meet everyone in town, as well as a few visitors...most of whom are extended family. The plots are intriguing and the folks mostly lovable. You won't be sorry if you read it, but be sure and read the first book in the series before you read this one.

This is the second of the Chancey books I have read and I enjoyed this one as much or more than the first. Caroline seems to finally be finding her gifts and it is enjoyable to read. I am looking forward to the next book.

Because I had not read book 1, it took me a long time to figure out who was who and how they were related to each other. Having stated that, I enjoyed the characters and the very Southern small town gossip. I would like to read book 3 if I can find it.

I like the story and characters and am interested in finding out what happens to them.

The spelling and grammar mistakes are difficult to ignore. I hope there’s a better editor on the next books.

Carolina continues to get "railroaded" by her friends & family to join committees and open her home & the B & B to a variety of gatherings. I feel myself getting swept along with her in the lives of the people of Chancey.

I enjoyed this second book in the series. Carolina has changed but it's a slow process. Lots of th ings are going on with the family and community. It helped to have read the first book but can't wait to read the third one!

This is a great read! I loved the story line of this book and the book before it. It's good southern fiction that really brings you in and makes you feel like you are a part of the world and life in Chancey.
I'm excited to read the next books in the series when they come out.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I liked that the characters were easy to like (whether they were good or bad) and that there were several problems and secrets that were resolved throughout which kept the story moving.
