Karina Halle is a master at developing relationships and hot, steamy sex scenes. With 'Smut' she does not disappoint one bit! However this book was very cliche for me, the story was as predictable as anything I've read or anything an up and coming author could write. I actually found myself skipping a lot of pages and didn't miss much in the story line by jumping forward. But the hot, steamy scenes were, well, hot and steamy!

What a fun, sweet and entertaining book that will leave you smiling and laughing. These characters just pull you in with all their good looks and geekiness, yet they have a smartness about them. Yes, this book is a romantic comedy, but it's smart and not over the top (which I do love over the top as well), but more like tongue-in-cheek funny. It plays with the indie writer world of now with the added enemies to lovers element. It truly is a gem that is light and a perfect summer read!
Blake and Amanda are single college students that both are taking a creative writing course. Once they get paired up by their professor, what will happen since they obviously have a bit of dislike for one another? Will their story work out or will their distaste for one another lead them astray?
The first half of the book has them tackling all these things and more. With the added elements of hilarious friends and roommates (I think every girl needs an Ana and Rio as friends to lighten them up, Fluffy? Not so much), it is smart and funny and so very entertaining.
"Rio does seem like a lot of fun. It's a wonder the two of you are even friends, she's like sunshine and you're just this angry windstorm that knocks down trees and sucks the juice out of everything."
But the barbs don't end there. Their story for class may end, but the next half of the book takes us on a whole other journey that is darn hot, funny, kinky and just a perfect amount of all of that combined.
"It must be the writer in me because all I can think about is how much it looks like an epic cum shot. Cream pies all over the place."
Seriously, if you're looking for a summer read that hits on all the elements of funny, romantic, swoon worthy yet nothing over the top...you've hit the right spot. I truly adored Blake and Amanda and could read more of them and their journey into the indie romance world. They are a fun pair!
(And it doesn't hurt that I fell in love with BC again. I foresee another trip there very soon).

Katrina Halle is an amazing author and I am really glad that she tackled this topic. Why is romance seen as a lesser form of writing? That confuses me because RomCom movie are not seen that way. Maybe it is the sex? I don't know, but what I do know is that I learned a lot of my bedroom moves from these so called 'smut' books. Also, I venture out to fantasy and thrillers, and even YA, but some times light, fun, sexy read is just what I need...especially when the author is amazing! Well done and recommended boon!

This was a fun and quick read. I really appreciated the simplicity of this book. It had a good plot, quirky and interesting characters, and it made me laugh. There wasn't unnecessary drama or outlandish plot twists. It was very refreshing in a sea of so many books that feel like they are trying too hard. 4.5 stars :)

This book has been sitting in my kindle for almost a year. I kept overlooking it, than booktuber I watch had it on her TBR, so I decided to give it a go. I’m so glad I did because I loved this story and its characters. This story was so fun and sexy!

Great read. I was bedridden today, so I picked this book up bright and early this morning and wasn't able to put it down. I loved the story line, the characters... Fluffy. Lots of laughs there! The wit, the sizzle of connection, the romance. All fit perfectly. This was also a fun read because it felt like we were getting inside the minds of authors, like a private backstage pass. And with all the smokin' hot moments in this book, boy, what a fun way to do research Think I
might like to research and practice some smut with my husband now. :)

This book is so amazing. I was instantly drawn in and felt a strong connection to Amanda. The way Karina developed the characters and then brought them together was fantastic. And let's not forget how awesome the sex scenes were. To die for! I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next!

I’m not usually one for romantic comedies or lighter reads in general so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Smut. And although on the lighter side it still very much had depth. I also really loved all the book world innuendoes. Unless you are in our little bubble it’s so hard to understand. This is the perfect book for summer or after that heavy read where you want to put your mind at ease and have a little word fun.

Hot, sexy, hilarious, sweet, and totally endearing - reading Amanda and Blake's enemies to business partners to lovers was fantastic! The storyline, the secondary characters, the setting - all of it made for a well-paced, pure entertainment read. 4.5 very Fluffy stars. Read this book now!

This is a satire that is targeting the cliché and unrealistic aspects of explicit romance books. It makes fun of all those little cliché formulas that everyone knows so well while also employing those same formulas for the plot. It was very entertaining but it’s hard to really review without setting off the language filters lol.

I enjoyed this book. Blake was charming, especially with his accent. He was your typical playboy. Amanda just out if a relationship despised his playboy ways and when paired up with Blake to complete a project, she naturally, thinks the worst. It was a fun read!

I absolutely love the way Karina Halle writes-- she has a fantastic ability to pull you in immediately and not let you go. I devoured Smut quickly and really loved it! Amanda and Blake see great characters and I have to say- as a pasty ass white girl who burns and doesn't tan, I was so happy to read about a "pale goddess" instead of a perfectly tanned woman... Lol!

The humor in this book is great and the sex scenes are... Awesome! But this book isn't just "smut". It's a well written story with phenomenal characters. Easy, quick read and very satisfying!

Read this book in one sitting! Great read and captivating story.

I read Karina Halle's Experiment in Terror series and decided to try another one of her books and I'm so glad I did. While this book is not spooky like EIT, it is an very enjoyable read.

I throughly enjoyed this book! I was very very excited for it to be released. I was a little worried that I might have it built up to much in my head and end up being disappointed. I was blown away by how amazing it was. I would definitely recommend you buy it and enjoy it!

You can't beat an erotica romantic comedy. I read it in a day. Not a mushy love story but a love story nonetheless. I loved the different approach the author wrote about a romance. The characters were witty and made me laugh. Very happy that I gave this book a chance.

Blake and Amanda are your typical hate to love you people. Amanda is a bookworm who loves to wrap herself up in stores and characters, and Blake is your typical manwhore who has been hurt so he leads with his cock. The way the two get together and how it completely unfolds is fun. The book gets slow at times but push through, it's totally worth it

Two "opposite" students in a Creative Writing class, are paired with one another for a class project. As time passes, working together becomes a positive experience for them both. Amanda and Blake have some things that they each need from the other. I liked the chemistry they had for each other, as the walls between them came down. Loved it!

Smut was funny and emotional at times. It poked fun at and embraced the contemporary romance /erotica genre. I loved watching Blake and Amanda find themselves and one another at the same time. This book was a great read. I'm glad I gave it a chance.

More humor, sweetness and delicately built sexual chemistry than you usually get with " smut" , but this is what this author's signature touch is. I think I have loved everyone of her books that I have purchased. This book is especially interesting in that you get a peak into the special benefits and drawbacks of this kind of writing.

This seemed a new category for Karina. It was very light hearted and comedic yet hot and steamy. I rarely read "light" books but this was just what I needed. Hope to see more of this category or even spin offs of funny novels they wrote.

This book had me from the very beginning. It starts out strong and had me hooked the entire time. I love Amanda's personality, (who doesn't love an overly sarcastic protagonist?) and I love how her character continued to develop over the entire book. It was fun to read and I would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially people who love Karina Halle!

Thus very enjoyable book has deeper level's. Like layers in an onion. The morale of the story is that the Romance genre has such a bad reputation and all the sublevels of it should not be an embarrassment for either the author or reader. Blake and A manda are such fun and relatable characters.

A carefree look at the publishing and book selling businesses. It follows a typical romance novel plot and in the ending is evident. Inexperienced female and dashing man of the world that come to grips literally. Well written.

This book delivered a super fun story that was super hot, but full of real characters. So nice to read a great story, with real characters without the liver the top drama. Such a fun read. Halle has yet to disappoint.

Had me laughing from the beginning. What a fun book! Some steamy hot sex, just the right amount of angst, and many nerdy laughs to be had. I especially love Ana, one of the more memorable supporting characters. Another hit for me from Karina Halle!

This is so different from other books by Karina but it was so much fun to read. I loved Blake and Amanda. I also loved all the geeky references, cracks about writing erotica, and glimpses into what authors go through and have to consider. I proudly read Smut and I agree you have to have romance with the dirty sex.
