A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Audiobook Review:
Rating: 5 stars out of 5
I loved this story just as much as I have every TJ Klune story I’ve read. Sandy is absolutely hilarious, if not completely stubborn at the same time. Seeing all the characters from the previous book helps to connect with the story even more.
You can’t help but connect with Sandy and feel exactly how he did. I could see the other characters emotions through Sandy’s eyes even when Sandy didn’t seem to see them himself. I loved Darren, he couldn’t help but take anything he could get when it comes to being with Sandy since he feels he doesn’t deserve him. I would love if TJ continues this series and we get to see Cory find someone.
Michael Lesley did a wonderful job narrating this story. I was able to connect with the characters feel their emotions in his reading as he used different voices for the characters. His voice changes so much you really get to see the differences with the characters.
Cover art by Reese Dante is perfect for this story.

I so love sassy queens, they are awesome. This book was awesome, 5/5 all around. The sexual tension between Sandy and Darren in this book is just unbearable. My only note, which is really just an observation, is that there was an awkward moment towards the end of the book. It is why I never write my own stories for the near future...
I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed The Queen & the Homo Jock King!! It is crazy and hilarious, lovely and sad. Realistic and unbelievable at the same time. The feels! I absolutely loved it and will most definitely re-read it.
If you thought part one was too over the top, give this one a go. It is still funny but for me so much more real than the first part.

When you read The Queen & The Homo Jock King ... you are in for the ride of your life.
Sandy aka Helena is the best Diva out there ... both sides of Sandy's life are wonderfully tied together. The way all of the sides flow are excellent and by God ... Funny ... extremely funny.
Darren is the typical Jock ... but deep inside his feelings are beautiful and he can be humble if the need suffices.
The chemistry between Sandy and Darren is great ... their love and hate relationship is incredible ...
And when their true feelings come out .. it is hot ...
Bravo TJ Klune! Can't wait for more ... can't wait to see the gang again ...

When you start laughing in Chapter 1, you know you're in for a good time! I have not laughed so much while reading a romance book, ever. I loved the characters and really hope that TJ gives Kori/ Corey a story as well, I want to see these characters again. I liked Tell Me It's Real, but this was even better. Thanks TJ!

TJ Klune continues to be one of my favorite authors. Tell Me It's Real is one of my favorite books and now this one is too. His writing is hilarious. I found myself laughing so hard I was crying numerous times. And the final sex scene.... out of his world!!

Outlandish, bold, sassy, funny, snarky, wild, outrageous, and inappropriate, all describe this book and cast of characters. So crazy in thoughts and deeds! They all want happiness in life and do what it takes to get it. With each other to lean on, we learn about their pasts, and how they became who they are. This group is open, accepting and a little nutty. Sandy/Sanford/Helena, is a drag queen and loose in his encounters. Darren/Dare has a rich homophobic father, who he stays away from. This lively story has closeted Darren wanting Sandy. It's full of laughs, truths, and newfound love. A deal is struck to try to get Darren's father to allow the gay club to continue to stay open. Plus, there is a wedding to plan. This is a fast paced tale with fun and frolic, plus tender moments are shown, which make the relationships so meaningful.
This is crazy fun ! ENJOY !

I loved this second installment of Klune's At First Sight Series. I thought I was going to die laughing at the Brunch scene. I seriously had tears in my eyes. Love your books T.J. In today's crazy world we need all the laughs we can get.

My Review:
Overall: 4.75
Performance: 5.0
Story: 4.75
There was so much happy to this story. Seriously, the audiobook was 18 hours of me sitting and listening and giggling while my family looked at me like I was nuts (and I couldn't even explain because they wouldn't understand me even reading this book, much less why I enjoyed it so much...but honestly, that's a common occurrence with my reading, but I digress). This book was all the things. It was so freaking funny, but at the same time had poignant moments that broke my heart.
Sandy and Darren....my heart, but they weren't all that made this book what it was...fantastic. No, the cast of characters were amazing, too, their quips fantastically humorous, and the bonds between the group made this story everything I ever could have hoped and so much more.
And it must be noted early in this review that the narrator, Michael Lesley, is brilliant. He does the breathy voices of Sandy/Helena so perfectly while still managing the depths and outrage of Darren and his fellow jocks. It was truly narration perfection!!! The pauses, the gasps, the sounds of outrage and nervousness...Michael Lesley mastered them all. It was truly one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to...which is why I spent hours laughing to (seemingly) myself with headphones in my ears because I didn't want the audiobook to ever stop...even after 18 hours.
And that brings me back to Sandy and Darren...two characters who seem at the beginning to truly despise one another. But there are reasons...heartbreaking ones...why things are so bad between them. And it broke my heart for both of them. Darren aches for Sandy...it's so obvious within the story, but Sandy can't forgive the hurt. *sob* Seriously, it's all so good and emotional, but the fact that Sandy is an over the top drama queen (surrounded by equally over the top other drama queens) keeps the story from getting too deep and depressing. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Seriously...laughing out loud...I did it throughout the ENTIRE book. It was so fun and funny. One of the most enjoyable and outrageous books I've ever read. I need to buy it in print and see if that translates to just reading the book. BUT regardless, I can't recommend the audiobook enough. It was everything happy and sunny and fun...with a truly beautiful love story too.

Please RateThe Queen & the Homo Jock King (At First Sight Book 2)
This was another funny, over the top story with a lot of heart under all the madness. I liked it even better than the first book. The whole cast of characters we were introduced to in Tell Me It's Real is back, along with Corey/Kori (who was introduced in The Art of Breathing and looks to be the subject of the next book!), Santiago (the waiter from hell) and a cast of homo jocks, most notably Brian (he needs a story too!), Biff, Chet and Xerxes. Even Gustavo Tiberius pops up on the pages.
This book has all of TJ Klune's signature wit and snark, and the one thing I demand from his books, an extremely awkward sit down meal. This book also had one of the sexiest, most intimate, non-sex scenes I have read in a while. Sandy/Helena is a force to be reckoned with and Darren is a big sweetheart. The enemies to lovers story was a slow burn that provided plenty of sexual tension. There was a plot of epic Scooby Doo proportions, but really who cares when you've got drag queens, an evil mayor, really bad dirty talk, a Homo Jock Drag Bachelor Auction, neurotic best friends, ludicrous disguises, and a homo jock king who saying s*** that makes you swoon (I would quote them here but don't want to ruin it for anyone).
There were one or two parts of the book where I felt like things were repeated, but it then quickly moved on to some insane group texting or incestuous sex dream that threw me right back into the story. If you love TJ's over the top stories and want to laugh until you cry you're probably already reading the book so I don't need to tell you to just do it.
