SEAL of Honor is an excellent book, especially if you are looking for in depth background of SEAL training and the type of things you have to go through to get to the point of Lt Murphy. I kind of wish they got more into the life of Murphy, because as we all know, he is a true hero. I would not hesitate to recommend the book, however. If you are looking for a book about Operation Red Wings, I highly recommend "Lone Survivor", which was amazing !

That pretty well sums up everything that can be said for these men and their families. Having read "Lone Survivor" it was a very easy decision to read the back story,as well as about the leader of men that risked it all in hopes of getting his men out alive.

This book was very well written under the circumstances of the ongoing cloak of security. I read Lone Survivor prior to Seal of Honor and between the two books, I have gained a greater appreciation for those in the "Black Ops". Lt. Murphy gives the reader a very detailed account of his experience as well as introduces you to all of the key players. He also describes very accurately the "fog of war" that happens at higher levels of command.

Accomplished what the author set out to do. Michael Murphy is a true American hero and this book is all about honoring him. He, as well as every soldier who selflessly puts their lives in danger to protect our freedom, deserves this honor.

The seals have evolved in to modern day Spartans. Their training is so intense, that by the time they are ready to join a team, they have become so motivated that each one would rather die than quit. A true " band of brothers "

This was a captivating book about one of Americas great SEAL's. The only way America is going to remain free is through such men who dedicated themselves to freedom. I would recommend this book to anyone who can appreciate our Navy SEALS.

First and foremost, this is a nonfiction biography about a war hero who was killed in battle, and later awarded the Medal of Honor. The information came from Lt. Murphy's family, friends, fellow warriors, and official records. All of this is clearly sourced by the author. Mike didn't live to tell his story, and the critics seem to miss that point. Or, they didn't read the book and came here to compare it to the 'other' book on Operation Red Wings, which was written by a British fiction author. There is plenty of room for these two stories, and Mr. Williams did a masterful job researching this book. We see Mike as a fearless toddler, a protective teen, ambitious college kid and later, a brave warrior willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for his men. The relationships with his family and friends are touching, and the description of the funeral is heart-breaking. If you're looking for detailed combat action, you may be disappointed. However, if you're looking for an inspirational biography about one of America's best and brightest, then read this book. Marcus Luttrell is an American hero, but he's alive to tell his story because of another true hero, Mike Murphy. -- Bill S., USCG (Ret.)

As a civilian, I have Nothing but the very utmost respect for the Individuals who put themselves through torture - Voluntarily - to protect our freedoms! These 4 Brave Men, Including Michael Murphy and what he did selflessly, including their families are in my Prayers Every Single Day! This book, along with Marcus Luttrell's (just got Danny Dietz's) bring this story to a reality that the majority of us could never even imagine. What Seals, Rangers, Green Berets, and ALL of our Special Forces do to Protect this Nation on a Daily basis, Keeping themselves Trained, Staying Ready to answer that call at a moments notice knowing what the outcome could be deserves the respect of Anyone who Loves the United States of America. And for those that don't, Fear These Men, Because there is Not One Ounce of Fear within them and when they get your number you're in deep trouble!

I first became fascinated with the entire Operation Red Wings SEAL Team out of Marcus Luttrell's account of "Sole Survivor," and was particularly pleased when this book became available. LT. Murphy was a warrior among warriors, just as most SEAL Team members are today, and this book brought him to the forefront so that we, the public, have the opportunity to take a look at a remarkable human being. How many of us ever fully identify what we truly want to do in life, and then accomplish it? LT. Murphy did, and in doing so he helped set the example that many of us should aspire to in terms of love of country, commitment to a cause and absolute dedication to Team. Many thanks to the author for bringing this warrior's story forward for us to share. The book is obviously well researched and appears to be highly respected where it counts the most - The SEAL Teams.

A straightforward account of the life, training, family relationships of Lt. Michael Murphy and the men whose lives he put first before his own. A great account of the description of the warrior culture the Navy Seals embody. I loved it and found the description of Navy Seals accurate as far as the ones I've worked with during my 22yrs in the US Submarine Service.

Awesome book. His aunt and uncle live in Ft. Myers where the 2nd largest VFW on Pineridge Road dedicates much of their walls to heroes like Michael Murphy....Can't explain the feeling you get when you walk into that VFW and see Michael's picture and meet many courageous ex/retired military men . The retired military men at this VFW honor him daily and have a strong bond.

I read this book just after I finished Loan Survivor. Both are great books about a group of great men. I would recommend these book be bought, placed in our High Schools and become required reading. The young men and ladies in school today have no knowledge as to what men like these have done for them.
