The hallmark of this series, for me, has been character development. Broad-based character development, extending beyond the original protagonist. If you can look past a single protagonist performing increasingly badass feats of badassery (the tired hallmark of just about every sci fi/fantasy series), and enjoy all the subtlety of character development along with foreshadowing, this is an excellent addition to a wonderful series, told from an entirely different perspective. If you're a guy - as soon as you think you understand women, think again.

I love this series, but I was surprised that this book was developing some of the other secondary characters. I was a little let down at first, but it was not bad after you get into it. It really sets the stage for the next book. Worth a read.

I had trouble staying interested in this book,... until Allura showed up. Then, I couldn't put it down. I must again thank my Son for his recommendation of this series. It has been and continues to be worth every minute.
Thanks Ms Mancour for her support of her spouse in regards to a misguided individual, that described Terry as being "misogynistic." I might be off on the exact wording, I'm working from memory here.

In Court Wizard, eighth in the Spellmonger series by Terry Mancour, Lady Pentandra (Penny) gets a chance to shine as the wizard for the Orphan Duke far from friends and advisers. I enjoy Mancour's sly sense of humor and how his characters continue to grow.

I absolutely love Terry Mancour's writing, This series is very much my favorite. But, this book was rushed to print. Mr. Mancour's incredible whit and style showed through now and again, but most of the book was not his flowing, polished, engaging, and very humourous writings. It was frankly unfinished, and I am hoping and praying he will revise this writing.
I really do encourage any reader to read his other writings. The Spellmonger Series is a favorite, as I've said, but I really enjoyed his Space Viking books too. I'm hoping he will write more of that series.

Book #8 in the Spellmonger series. Terry does it again. If you love sword and sorcery and you are a fan of truly epic series and you have like 100 hours to read them all then you won't be disappointed!

I really like this series and all the flamboyant characters. All the previous books have been fast and fun. This book is fun but not fast. I will prob have to reread this book to get all there is in it out of it. Hopefully the next book in the series is fast as well as fun
