This book consists of a series of intriguing stories revolving around the possibilities inherent in the applications of the "Three Laws of Robotics", formulated by Isaac Asimov, a master story teller. The book was penned many years ago but still is fascinating.

I really enjoyed the stories in this book. They hang together like a bunch of short stories and are quite enjoyable. This is where the three laws started.

I was impressed with the progression of how robots started and the problems that people over come one by one. The conclusion is interesting in what it says about human nature.

A classic, a must. And the "Three Laws of Robotics" that were developed by Asimov and are the basis for this set of stories have been extremely influential for the development of the whole scientific field of robotics. Aside, Asimov was a master writer.

Seminal. A must read. Follow it up with The Martian Chronicles and on the lighter side, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If you're ambitious read Monkey Planet--in the original French. Do this and you will have a solid grounding in classic sci-fi.

I'm reading these reviews......the "1 star" in particular. Wow. Maybe Asimov should've used smaller, easier to understand words and sentences. Really folks....catch up. The 3 rules are genius. Do some background studies on this. Get a dictionary. Learn. Duh.

I actually bought this for my girlfriends 12 year old son, then ended up buying a 2ond copy for myself. I bought it because I remembered how much fun it had been discovering Asimov when I was a lad and I wanted him to find it too, but when I started reading through it before hand, I realized that somehow adult life had stolen the joy of reading from me. So I bought my own copy and I am getting the Foundation Trilogy for the boy and I to read together.

It is fascinating re-reading Isaac Asimov's works all these years later, and long after the "futuristic" settings. This work, though, does not lend itself in the same was as the Foundation series.

That said, if you've never read Isaac Asimov before this is a really good book. I'f you are looking to be as impressed many years later it isn't the best work to re-read.

This is a nice collection of wonderful science fiction stories by Asimov. They are very well written: witty, filled with both humor and hints of hidden philosophical speculations (many of them are still topical and very modern, especially political ones). Delightful reading: the book which one will have a occasional desire to reread again.

Asimov was always more about ideas than the actual technology, which has helped his books remain timeless. More a collection of short stories than a novel, there are some fantastic ideas and wonderful humor making this a quick read worth your time.

I always wanted to buy this classic science fiction book and I chose this one because it has the vintage painting representing the short story "Runaround" on the cover. I don't know if there is such a thing anymore because the book that I receive has the poster of the Will Smith movie I, Robot on the cover. I like the movie; it wasn't a faithful adaptation but it is still a good movie. But, it's just not what I wanted. I didn't send the book back because I started reading it (again) as soon as I got it, or else I would have sent it back! the store Guys! Do something about the picture!

Asimov broke the 'mold' for SF writing about robots in the 1940's - 1950's - these were the first robots that were not villains, that actually really helped humans. And the SF of that period was almost always suitable for early adolescent boys, so I had no trouble giving a copy to a grandson.

I have only started reading Asimov recently, but I'm reading more now because of this book. Very insightful writer concerning human nature and science/tech. Great for anyone studying philosophy of science. Asimov has the creative mind of a scientist and is a very good writer.

Clever writing! I thought this was a teen book at first. Then, as I read further, this was a progression of short stories with the robots finally maturing to the Machines in charge of humans. Great book!

I have read this before. But after seeing the movie again, I wanted to remember if there was any relationship at all. There was not. Not in the content or even the basic premise of the 3 laws. Got to love Hollywood's allegiance to the author's desires.

I have read and reread this collection of Asimov's robot stories since the mid 60's and the story telling still amazes me. However these stories were written in and for a different time and now they are a little dated. Adults may find them overly simplistic with easy to guess plot twists and endings BUT young readers will enjoy Asimov's robot stories. My number one big beef with this e-book is the cover! While Will Smith may be an "OK" actor, his version of "I, Robot" has next to nothing to do with the book. The movie plotline was cobbled together from a couple of robot stories and liberally treated to a Hollywood action makeover. That said I wish that the publisher had used one of the many other covers that have been used by this book over the years.

My 9th grade class was surprised at how good this book is. They were animatedly discussing how there were very thought-provoking ideas, complex but followable plot lines. Some are now hooked on Asimov. Yea!

I stumbled upon Isaac Asimov books a few weeks ago after seeing a tweet (yes, shameful on my part) from Elon Musk about the Foundation series. I started out reading "Foundation" but then quickly felt I should look further into these stories because I just like I wanted to know more of the history. It's a long story but I basically did a bit more research and found that "I,Robot" was one of the first books I should read as it provided the framing of the entire Galactic series. I believe there are about 16 - 18 books which covers the Robots, Galactic Empire and Foundation stories (each having a set of books). And although you can read each set of books on their own e.g. reading just the Foundation books is perfectly fine......you would do yourself an injustice by skipping the other sets as the all give notes of origin to certain characters and elements to each future story. As other reviewers note, this is a collection is short stories and not a novel of one. I just finished this book and now moving onto "The Complete Robot"........and from the two books I've read/listened so far, I have not once been disappointed. There were moments OMG when there were revelations in the story which I did not foresee. One thing you should take into consideration.....while I think anyone would enjoy this book, don't compare it to the movie. It is, as mentioned, a collection of short stories and only ties in some of the characters from the movie. And while I think anyone would enjoy this book, do read it as a stepping stone. You will be glad you did.

This book creates the fundamental rules for all future stories involving robots. Asimov guaranteed his nitch in history by developing the early years of robots and the laws that govern their existence in relation to mankind. He went further by penning wonderful plots and characters.

This book is a must have Science Fiction classics. The style makes you think you are reading an interview with the "employees" of U.SA Robotics and Mechanical Men. Asimov intersperse "reminiscences from the "employees"' with their account of a robot
