A very useful book for the basic information needed. It condenses the material to a manageable level. The only complaint I have is the amount of material covered. I would have liked to have seen more.

Great reference to use during clerkship and clinical rotations. Not as useful for Step 2 because it's pretty dense. Great resource. Only concern is that it will become outdated because guidelines are always changing. The vast majority of the information presented is accurate. It's formatting is great and easy to read. Good luck to fellow med nerds who are considering purchasing.

A bit disappointing as to how much material is missing from this review book. It contains BASIC (I cannot stress the basic) information for medicine. I would not use this as my sole source of information/study material during IM. Do yourself a favor and buy the pocket medicine, UWORLD questions, and MKSAP for students. Studying from this alone is definitely not adequate to have a full grasp of IM material.

Best resource out there for medical students to use for boards and for the wards. Material can be dense, but it's complete. Along with Netter anatomy and Goljan pathology, step up is one of the must need text books for all med students!

I can not rave about this book enough. My absolute favorite book. The size and print and colors used make finding everything extremely fast and easy. The set up is very logical. I use this book constantly.

For PA students, this is your lifeline! It gives you all of the information necessary to do well in your exams without the additional fluff. I got really good grades in my components because of this book hands down. This book, however, will not cover all of the components but it will cover a majority of them. So I suggest supplementing with another book to cover all your bases but otherwise, this book is an excellent book to get the grades you want provide you study the material well.

I use this to supplement material for my Medicine class or as a quick reference. It's easier to find basic information in here than to go through my 100+ pages of notes and hundreds of powerpoint slides when studying for an exam.
It is visually appealing with lots of color, tables, some pictures, and nice formatting.
I use this book and O'Connell's Comprehensive Review for the Certification and Recertification Examinations for Physician Assistants. I like both of them, but this is more visually appealing. O'Connell's is more of a black and white outline format with few pictures, tables and color.
Don't expect the in-depth detail that you receive in your actual class or textbook though. Both of these books just cover the basics of medicine, provides quick access to information, and present the information in a concise manner.

Great book. It's a standard.
Very much bullet-point format, so be warned if that's not your style.
If you plan on reading the entire thing (I certainly didn't have time for that) then get the print version, but if you want to use this as a companion on the wards (along side the purple/green pocket book) or to supplement UWorld questions for Shelf/Step 2, then I recommend you go digital (because Search would be very valuable for a book like this in that setting).

Incredibly dense and boring, but informative if you can get through it. I couldn't.
If you're studying for the medicine shelf I recommend buying Uworld or another good qbank and do questions instead.

I thought this was an excellent text to use while on the wards as a third year med student. The information is well organized and concise. I noticed throughout my rotations a lot of the things I was asked by attendings while rounding were listed here, nearly verbatem.
The only problem - I'm missing pages! In the Neuro section (Chapter 5) page 214 skips ahead to page 231. What gives? I first was thrown off when I was directed to check a table and the next table didn't correspond to what I was reading.
What a disappointment! If only I had read the book straight through rather than skipping around I would have caught this earlier and have been able to alert the publisher.

I personally thought that this book was very comprehensive with a lot of good info, but way too much to absorb during a rotation for the final imed shelf, especially if you're more a question person and want to get through all the uworld imed qs. I'd instead recommend reading step up to step 2 (pertinent sections for imed), which is a lot smaller, and then focus on getting through all 1300 imed uworld qs for the shelf exam... Of course, I'm more of a question person and not a book person..
