Disappointing. I could not get into the first chapter cause I do not like trading two books in one. The going back and forth between past and present Can be confusing. Keeping track ofeho is who ????? What am I say. Bj. Should have stuck to one store or the other. What's happening to other characters in book. ??? Please tell me Inthe Dust will be different. If not $$$$ wasted Just give me plain old mystery n romance. I would not buy this book again.

Waiting to hear about mother and how she lost her 22 years, who was responsible, was she in the Prophecy, how was the doctor involved, and did she regain her memory. Lot of unanswered details and information in supposedly the final book. Very disappointed!!

B.J. Daniels not only writes a nice convincing mystery/love story with this book, but she creates characters that come to life on the pages. I love that she interweaves characters from previous books into each one she writes. Sheriff Frank Curry and his wife Lynette figure predominantly in this book and I can never get enough of their story. If Frank ever does retire from the Sheriff’s department, I sure hope he and Nettie become private investigators.

In this 4th book in the continuing story of the Montana Hamiltons, we meet, Harper, one of Buckmaster Hamilton’s twin daughters. I don’t much care for Buck Hamilton, his life or his bid for the presidency, but I do enjoy the stories of his daughters and the men in their lives. Oh, and that continuing arc about his first wife, Sarah, brings another dimension to this story. Who is she really?

Harper and Brody McTavish come from warring families and they love one another – always have. They join forces to try and solve a 35 year old murder much to their families’ dismay. This book can be read as a stand-alone – but why would anyone want to miss the first three installments of this series? And you can bet that I’ll read the next one, too. BJ Daniels throws out a hook at every turn making you keep reading and reading and anticipating the next twist to the story.

This is definitely a 5 star read and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystery/love story.

First of all, if you are expecting a Carolyn Brown laugh until you cry Western Romance, park your expectations at the door. This is pure and simple Intrigue with a little romance sprinkled in that takes place in Montana. This is NOT a bad thing! Just know going in that other than riding a horse two or three times, the word ranch throw in occasionally, and maybe 50 pages devoted to romance, you will be on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what's going on and who the murderer is (plus a few finer details that I won't mention as I don't want to spoil anything).

I picked up this book while looking for something to cleanse my palette of YA books I'd been reading recently and unfortunately did not notice that this was book 4 in a 6 book series. This was absolutely no problem as it could stand on its own. However, it hooked me so well that now I must have the rest of the books in the series. I do have book 6 but will just have to contain myself until the earlier books arrive. One of the many advantages to reading a series that is complete is being able to order all the rest of the books used from PaperBackSwap or the store and binge read them all.

I loved both of the main characters in the story. Brody has been waiting for years for Harper to grow up enough to pursue and Harper has weighted every guy she has ever met against Brody. So the time is finally here and what happens but they stumble over a body on the ranch while looking for her runaway horse. (see ranch and horse-western). Anyway, this body is part of the ongoing mystery of Harper's missing Mom who has recently returned after 24 years with no memory of what has gone on for the last 2 decades. Combine this with the body they have stumbled over and their decision to investigate since both of their families are involved makes for some tense action in this small Montana town. While the murder is resolved by the end of the book, there are many unanswered questions that make this a series well worth diving into.

Another intense book in the series of the Montana Hamiltons. I didn't realize it of course when I picked up the book. But since I had read other books in this series it was good to read this part. As I read it, I remembered that I had read these books out of sequence (of course, since I tend to do that) and had already read the book that told all. It was good to get this missing part of the story though. It was an emotional book with plenty of mystery and action.

It was so endearing that both Brody and Harper had been crazy about each other for years. Like Brody told her though, he had been waiting for her to grow up. It made me smile when Harper told him she made up her mind at 9 years old that she was going to marry him. They were both interesting, honorable people who were not going to have an early way of it to make a life together.

There were plenty of interesting secondary people to the story. As was the look into memories of people in the story like Harper's grandfather, her grandmother Grace, Maggie and even some of the memories that Harper's mother Sarah did remember. It let us look into what hadn't been known or revealed yet and some things that would never be knows.

Sooner or later, every family secret comes to light…
When Brody McTavish sees Harper Hamilton's runaway horse galloping across the pastures, he does what any good cowboy would do—gives chase and rescues her. Unfortunately for him, the woman he's secretly loved for years didn't need saving, and she's just reached her limit with people treating her as hopeless. But they soon have bigger problems when they make a gruesome discovery—human remains revealed by a recent rainstorm. Remains that will dredge up old Hamilton family mysteries…and bring about a scandal that could threaten all Harper's loved ones.

With her father running for president, every move Harper makes is under scrutiny. But despite the risks, she's determined to uncover the truth about her family's role in a long-ago murder. If she can trust him enough, Brody will be more than an ally. He could be the only thing standing between Harper and an enemy intent on keeping the past buried forever.

B. J. Daniels' love of the Montana countryside is once more evident in "Hard Rain". As she takes an old cold case from 35 years ago and makes it feel as though it a news snippet from the nightly news. It is not uncommon to hear of bodies washing up following a flood or heavy rain. You will feel your are following a true case with the talent Ms. Daniels puts into the story.

This is the fourth in the series and I would recommend to read the series from the beginning to completely understand where the characters come together and their back histories. Fall in love with the Hamiltons and come back often to visit often.

My rating of "Lone Rider" is 4.75 out of 5 stars.

HARD RAIN is the 4th book in the Montana Hamiltons Series. This series is about the 6 girls in the Hamilton family.
This book is about Harper Hamilton and Brody McTavish. Both Harper and Brody grew up knowing of each other. They even liked each other. But she's quite a bit younger than him. He's been waiting for her to grow up. Okay, it's kind of cheesy! They both liked each other for so long and now they are going to be together. There's no real "dating" in the romance.
The story starts out with him saving her from her run away horse only to be berated for ruining her fun. After a silly scene where they reconnect, they realize that her horse needs to be found. When they find the horse, they also find a box that has been unearthed in the hard rains. Inside the box is they find mummified remains. They report the remains to the sheriff only to find out that it's his cousin that disappeared 35 years earlier. What follows is a story more about the opening of Pandora's box (they find out who killed her grandmother, who was at fault for her grandfather's death as well as what happened to Maggie) than of an actual romance between the two. They just decided that they wanted to be together so they were. There was little to no sexual content.
I did enjoy the story. It was intriguing and captivating. Definitely kept me on my toes till the end. And the actual killer was not who I'd suspected. There was a lot of reference to other characters in the whole series as well as from the Beartooth, Montana Series. You can better understand the story when you've not only this series but the Beartooth series as well.

Hard Rain is a Montana Hamiltons’ novel by BJ Daniels. It is set in Montana and is a mystery, suspense, and romance. It is the fourth in the series. The book is really good and easy to read and follow although the plot does twist and turn until you aren’t sure what is going on.
Harper Hamilton is the youngest daughter of Buckmeister Hamilton and his first wife Sarah. When Harper and her twin sister were just months old, Sarah ran her car into the Yellowstone River and supposedly drowned. This left Buckmeister alone with his six daughters. He married Angelina and then entered the Senate race and won. Now he was in the Presidential race, his wife had died in an accident and his ex-wife Sarah had returned but without any memory as to where she has been. Now, Harper is home so she can be protected as there are threats against the six girls. Senator Hamilton isn’t taking any chances with his girls. Harper takes her horse out on a wild ride across the Hamilton acres. Brody McTavish is riding on his land when he sees Harper racing across the field yelling. He thinks she is in trouble and rides to her rescue only to be face to face with an angry Harper. She was not in any danger and was yelling in glee. Her anger doesn’t last long. She does take Brody up on his offer to help her find her horse. When they find her horse, they also find the mummified body of a young girl who has a belt on that says “Maggie”. It is Maggie McTavish, Brody’s older cousin who disappeared years ago. Since she is in a box, it is assumed she was murdered. Who murdered her and why? Was it JD Hamilton, Harper’s grandfather? Is that why Brody’s father and uncle are so adamant that he not have anything to do with Harper?

Hard Rain is the latest installment in The Montana Hamiltons series and narrates the story of Harper Hamilton. I have been eager to read her story and get her own perspective to all the action and mysterious events surrounding her family.

In this book, there is ample mystery, suspense and enough action to keep the reader hooked. With the background mystery of Harper's mother, Sarah Hamilton's disappearance twenty two years ago and her appearance now with no memory of where she has been all these years, still going strong, there is additional mystery of a murder where a mummified body is found of a girl who went missing thirty five years ago and was thought to be a runaway. To add to this there is also the romance building between Harper and Brody that had me engaged throughout and left me wanting more.

BJ Daniels is pro at romantic suspense and I enjoy her series which always bring something new to the table and are so entertaining that you cant stop at just one book.

Here too, I could connect with both Brody and Harper and kept rooting for them. Glad to meet the Hamilton family again, it was fun revisiting my beloved characters from previous books.

This is the best book in this series so far because both the background mystery and the current mystery merge beautifully and give a new insight into the characters' life and motives. I was shocked, frightened and then impressed while reading this book. The people I had thought I knew after reading the previous books show new colours to their characters which are sometimes frightening and other times too different from their image in my mind that I felt awed and also scared thinking of the possibility of such people in real life.

All in all, Hard Rain is another entertaining romantic suspense from BJ Daniels and most definitely the best book in this series which adds more appeal to this already fantastic series. 4.5 out of 5 to it and recommended to all mystery and romantic suspense lovers. I am now eager to read the next one in this series from BJ and cant wait for its release!

And the plot thickens when a family secret gets unearthed in a rain storm. I am so hooked on this series I have to say the author is driving me nuts trying to work out what Sarah’s deal is with the suspense of her story as well as each one of her daughters story you are left guessing as to the outcome. When they find a new body it is everyone’s guess as to who the killer is. In Ms. Daniels new book Hard Rain she once again shows us why she is a bestselling author. Lord have mercy this author can spin a tale to keep you on the edge of your seat giving you a very entertaining read that you can’t put down.

It is Harper turn to find true love as Brody chases her down knowing he can never have the women of his dreams. There is bad blood between these two families that has been going on for years starting back with the grandfathers. It seems the Hamilton’s has more than one secret that has stayed hidden for many years. This could be another blow to her father’s campaign in running for the president. With two families at each other’s throats Harper and Brody have their hands full trying to find a killer and keeping their hands off each other. Neither knew that the other have always secretly been in love with the other leaving them torn between love and family.

This is one series that is addictive with more suspense and thrills than you can shake a stick at. I had the pleasure of setting in on a chat this author had. B.J. is truly a lovely woman who doesn’t have a clue to the ending of her books. She knows each character she wants to write about but lets them take their own road as the story comes to life in her head. I always thought author made a plot up knowing just about each step of the way. This is one author that doesn’t look ahead but takes each book as they come, finding out just like we do when she puts pen to paper so to speak. She isn’t sure just where Sarah’s road leads but sure looks forward to finding out just like us. I found this to be exciting, thrilling and interesting just as much as I have this series.

Ms. Daniels gives you wonderful characters that come to life as you read her books. Each book in this series is just a thrilling as the one before. She gives you just enough information about each character that you can’t wait to read each sisters story. There isn’t a lot I can say about this story without giving away important information. What I can tell you is the dead girl is Mary who has a very sad story to tell. Harper and Brody do their best to give this young lady justice. I am not saying Mary is all innocent lord knows when she was alive she was a hand full. Of course there are fingers pointing in all directions and you learn more details of Harper’s family on the days when her mother came to town and married her father along with how his parents felt and the trying years. You are still left wondering who is really evil and who might be innocent.

Buckmaster is still demanding to have his wife back with him and doesn’t care if it hurts his campaign. There are still many questions over his 2nd wife’s death leaving people asking if maybe he had something to do with it. It is hard to believe someone has lost 22 years of their life not remembering anything from the day they left until they came home. Could there be a plot to make him President only to control him to do things this group wants. Is Sarah the RED that ran this group or just what rules does she play if any? But first you have to read Hard Rain to find out who Mary is and why people might want Harper and Brody dead. This could be the end for the young lovers with someone wanting Mary to stay dead they are willing to kill these two.

Come take the journey of the Hamilton’s as the author spins a believable story of past love, new love and old love. She gives you a thrilling read you won’t be able to put down. With having read this whole series it has become so much a part of my life the characters feel like family. Daniel’s bring passion and mystery at its finest by giving you a thrilling read of excitement and danger. I can hardly wait until the next book comes out.

B.J. Daniels does it again in this fourth installment of her Montana Hamiltons series, filling her novel with unforgettable characters, and this time moving the reader backward and forward in time as the plot progresses and mystery piles upon mystery. I don't know whether any other romance writer has ever succeeded as well as she in achieving this degree of depth and complexity in a romantic suspense novel.

This is primarily Harper Hamilton and Brody McTavish's love story. Harper is one of Senator Buckmaster (Buck) Hamilton's twin daughters, and Brody is the son of Finn McTavish, whose brother Flannigan's daughter, Maggie, went missing 35 years ago, never to be seen or heard from again, until now that is. There's a lot of bad blood between these two families, and Harper and Brody are the Romeo and Juliet in this novel. For years, Buck's father, J.D., has been blamed by almost everyone in Beartooth for Maggie's disappearance, especially the McTavish family, and when Maggie's mummified corpse is accidentally unearthed and discovered, the search for her killer is on.

We again get to enjoy Frank and Lynette, he being the sheriff and she being the nosiest woman in town, and head of the town rumor mill. We also catch up on the lives of other characters from previous novels in this series, as well as being taken back 22 years to understand the relationship between Sarah, missing and long thought dead until Ms. Daniel's previous novel in this series, and Buck, her husband, who, thinking her dead, remarried the dreadful Angelina, now deceased. To complicate matters further, he's currently running for the Presidency and the very last thing he needs is a public scandal.

When it's discovered that at the time of her death, Maggie was 5 months' pregnant, the mystery deepens. Who killed her, who impregnated her, and who fathered her unborn child? Everyone assumes it was J.D. Hamilton, who was twice her age at the time of her death. Brody and Harper are trying to solve the mystery and prove that it wasn't J.D. for the sake of their relationship, and Sheriff Frank is also deeply involved in finding her killer, while everyone else in town is buzzing. You're going to have to read this novel to find out, and oh, by the way, while some of the mysteries are solved, Ms. Daniels also ends this novel with yet another cliffhanger in the deepening mystery of Sarah's lost memories of her 22 years away from Beartooth and Buck Hamilton.

If you've not read any of the previous novels in this series, I suggest that you do so, not only because they're all great reads, but also because each of them has more twists and turns than a roller coaster, and the many threads of this story are so tightly interwoven, generation after generation that I cannot imagine trying to figure them all out this far into the series. So get set, these novels will keep you awake at night trying to solve the mysteries in each one, and by the time you get to Hard Rain, I'm guessing that you'll feel as much like one of the citizens of Beartooth, Montana as I do.

Finally! Harper’s story. I’ve been dying to get to know her better throughout the series. Her outgoing attitude and mixed feelings with respect to the events surrounding her family was a lot of fun. The way that she comes to life was so approachable that she seemed oh so very real to me. I loved Brody as well. His conflicting concern for so many people vies with his need to do what’s right. He was so strong and loveable, and the perfect counterpoint for Harper’s impulsiveness.

Getting to know more about the family`s past put a lot of things throughout the series into perspective. It also opened up a great many questions leading into the next novel in the series. This balance gave me chills more than once. The way that little facts pop out at different times gave me a few ‘aha’ moments while also drawing me further and further into the mystery that spans this series.

This is all backed up with Daniels’ fantastic writing. She drew me into the tale, allowing me to participate in it, rather than simply reading it. The suspense throughout this novel was both apparent and subtle. The undercurrent gave me chills at times while I was trying to unravel it all. At the same time, the picturesque and vividly explicit descriptions allowed me to picture each moment of it.

Once again, Daniels has created a novel that I had a blast reading. Romance and suspense combine in perfect proportion, ending with the perfect lead-in to the next novel in the series.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Hard Rain is book #4 in the Montana Hamilton series by B.J. Daniels. I have read all of the books in the series so far and It is such a great series with a story line that keeps the reader hooked.

There is romance, suspense, mystery that makes you want to keep reading to learn more.
Harper Hamilton is one of the six daughters of Senator Buckmaster Hamilton and his first wife Sarah. Harper has just come home from being away at college. One day while out riding, Brody McTavish sees her. He chases after her because he thinks she's in trouble. She is just happy to be riding her horse again. Brody helps her anyway because her horse gets spooked. It was spooked by a body that the rain has unearthed.

There is a big investigation to determine that the body is in fact Brody's cousin Maggie. Brody and Harper start their own investigation in addition to the sheriff's. They find clues that the sheriff didn't know about, but also put themselves in danger. During this, they also confess that they have loved each other for a long time. Even though the families don't agree, Harper and Brody decide to pursue their feelings for each other.

You feel like you are reading two stories at once while reading this book. As the investigation is going on, you are reading about the background of Buckmaster's father J.D., his mother Grace and about Brody's cousin Maggie.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I am looking forward to read the next book in the series to learn more about the family and what happens next.

Harper Hamilton is the daughter of Buckmaster Hamilton who is a Senator and running for President of the United Sta.Like all the six daughters of Senator Hamilton, Harper is head strong and determined to do her own thing.

Along comes Brody McTavish, a neighbor of The Hamiltons and not on a friendly level as these two families have been feuding for many years back in the grandparents' time.

Brody comes across Harper while she is riding her horse and looked like her horse was spooked. He grabbed her from her horse only to cause her to be more wild than her horse had been. She gets off Brody's horse and starts running away after her own horse when she comes upon a dead body wrapped like a mummy.

Discovering a dead body brings many questions to mind and also brings back the past. You will find yourself wanting to keep reading as things really come out in the open and uncovers more than just a dead body

Top this is also the idea Brody has been in love with Harper since they were young but the two families history was always a brick wall between his feelings and even letting her know. Now this new twist may even cause more problems if secrets of the past surface and the results are not good. Can things get any worst?

B.J.Daniels is a great storyteller and her books are in high standard in my eyes. I have been enjoying her books and always waiting to see what she comes up with next..

B.J. Daniels keeps you wanting to come back and find out all the answers to the mysteries. I keep hoping for more and more but we just get enough to make me come back again.

Hard Rain has lots of mystery in it that will keep you guessing who the murder is or was.

Brody McTavish has worked on his family ranch. It is next to the Hamilton's ranch. He has watched Harper over the years but she was too young for him. His father and uncle hate the Hamiltons.

Harper Hamilton has come back to the ranch after she graduated from college. She is out riding very fast screaming out loud. When Brody thinking she is afraid and her horse has run out of control comes to rescue her by taking her off her horse.

While they chase down Harper's horse they find in a mud slide a dead body. They end up trying to figure out who killed Brody's cousin? Chief suspect is Harper's grandfather.

The mystery that is over the Montana Hamiltons is What happened to Harper's mother where has she been and why. Why has she come back without any memories. While Harper's father is running for President.
I will come back to see what happens next in the Montana Hamiltons.

I was given this ebook to read by Netgalley and Harlequin. In return I will give a honest review of Hard Rain.

Brody McTavish and Harper Hamilton have been fascinated with each other for years but neither had the nerve to pursue it. Now they’re thrown together by a macabre discovery- a washed up body that unearths an old mystery that could threaten Brody, Harper, their families, and even the whole town. Caught up in a Romeo and Juliet, Hatfields and McCoys kind of dilemma, the two set out to discover the truth of this decades old crime and hopefully salvage their chance for a future.
I have to say this is one of the most addicting series I have ever read. BJ Daniels is a master storyteller. Her twists and turns have twists and turns. She has a knack for ending every chapter with just enough to tantalize you to keep reading further. It is impossible to put down. I got nothing else accomplished and chewed every fingernail reading this one.
This is #4 in the Montana Hamiltons series. While it could be read as a stand -alone, I recommend starting the series from the beginning because it’s just that amazing. This whole series moves at a relentless pace, and is full of surprises and superbly drawn characters. Read one BJ Daniels book and you’ll be coming back for more.

Brody McTavish has had a crush on Harper Hamilton since she was a young girl, from a distance of course. He's just been waiting for her to grow up.

Harper Hamilton's has had a crush on Brody McTavish for a very long time, also from a distance.

Brody was mending a fence one day when he heard screaming from a woman on a horse, headed straight for him. Well, being a gentleman, when he saw it was Harper he jumps on his horse to "save her". When he catches her and "saves her" she balls up her fist and hits him!! Turns out she didn't need rescuing! Her horse is upset right up from them and when they go to investigate they find a wooden box with a body that has spilled out!!

When it's discovered who the remains belong to Brody and Harper decide to join forces and solve this case. But, there's a good amount of people that don't want it solved and they let it be known.

Harper's dad is a Senator and has announced he's running for president. His wife just died four months ago and his first wife that they thought was dead, has returned after twenty two years!! Sarah, Harper's mom disappeared when Harper and her twin were just infants. She left six girls and she doesn't remember why. When she returns she has no memory of the last twenty two years!

What happens when Harper and Brody start investigating this death and they have put themselves in danger? Even though their families don't get along can Harper and Brady get a chance at love since they both have had a crush on each other? Where did Sarah go for that long and why does she keep having the feeling someone is watching her?

OH MY GOSH, this book has so many twist and turns it'll have your head spinning!! I've not read any of the other books in this series and I wasn't confused at all. B.J. Daniels did an amazing job with this book!! The characters were amazing! There were a lot of them in this book and each had their own part in this story and you could easily keep up with them. I was captivated from the beginning and stayed on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book! Five stars isn't nearly enough for this book, it was that good!! I could see this one being a movie you watch late at night and get the pants scared off you!!

I really loved this book. There was mystery, suspence and so much more. I loved that there was plenty going on to keep things interested. As much as it confused me at first I got use to it the back and forth of what happened before maggie died wondering who it could've been solving the mystery. I loved that there was multiple point of views. I really loved that ending, I wasn't expecting it. This book was well written and really enjoyable

B.J Daniels writes the most intriguing page turning novels I have ever read..Hard Rain is no exception. She writes the best mystery and intrigue that keeps you turning to the next page to see what happens. This book kept me turning page after page to see what happened next. I love how it weaves between what happens in the past to what is going on in the future. They weave together a fantastic story that makes you wish the story would not finish but you still want to know what is going on. I wish I had the next book in the series to read after finishing Hard Rain. As I said an absolutely fabulous story that answers many questions but leaves you with more to come.

BJ Daniel's books always hold your attention and this one is no different. It starts out with a galloping horse and goes on from there. I love how BJ keeps our interest all through her books. This one is Harper's story. She is one of the twins, the youngest of the girls. Hard Rain takes you on an intriguing ride full of suspense and bone chilling twists. This is the 4th book in the series and I hope you start with the first...Wild Horses. You will not be disappointed I guarantee you.
