Bo Hamilton has spent many years believing her mother was dead, but life throws her a bittersweet curveball when Bo discovers her mother is actually alive! Except no one – her mother included – has any idea where her mother has been hiding or what she has been doing. And to top it off, Bo has problems of her own that she’s trying to deal with – a charity foundation that’s missing thousands of dollars and a family that was falling apart even before her mother returned from the dead. Bo escapes to her beloved mountains to clear her head, but runs into an escaped convict. Out of the frying pan and into the fire! It’s up to the hero, Jace Calder, to save his beloved Bo. But life is rarely that simple and Jace quickly begins to realize that he has no idea what he’s just gotten himself into.
Suspenseful cowboys – who knew, right? While cowboys are not typically my hero-of-choice, I absolutely loved reading LONE RIDER by B.J. Daniels! The plot was pace-perfect and really kept me on the edge of my seat, reading and waiting for “what happens next!?” The mystery was complex and thought-provoking; I genuinely had trouble figuring it out, but the answer made complete sense. Brava, Ms. Daniels, for your excellent use of subtle foreshadowing! If your other books are anything like this one, you will earn a place on my “must-read” list.
LONE RIDER is the second installment of a series which involves an on-going mystery. It may be helpful to read the first novel before reading this, but you can certainly enjoy this part without reading the first. It would just make more sense and provide familiarity with the characters if you read the first novel.

Bo Hamilton, daughter of the wealthy Buckmaster Hamilton who is currently the front-runner for President, is running the non-profit named for her missing mother, Sara Hamilton. When she discovers that someone has taken money from the non-profit, she calls in an auditor and rides into the nearby mountain range known as The Crazies to prepare herself mentally to deal with the problem. When she hasn’t returned two days later, a Monday, one of her employees begs her brother, local rancher Jace Calder, to go into the mountains to bring her home.
Jace, who has twice dated and broken up with Bo, thinks she may have been escaping from the consequences of the theft from her non-profit – may have actually taken the money herself. What he doesn’t know is that Bo has been kidnapped by an escaped killer who has decided she would make a good wife, if he properly subdues her. Through the danger-fraught chase and rescue, he rediscovers his love and trust for her, and she accepts that he was always the one she wanted.
This book, the second in the Montana Hamiltons series, is an engrossing tale that neatly weaves in the story of the main characters, Bo and Jace, with the over-arching storyline of the series as a whole. It’s tough to make a series novel hold together as a cohesive, stand-alone entity as well, but Daniels does an excellent job. In the larger picture, Bo’s mother, Sara, has reappeared after 22 years. She had been presumed dead, a victim of suicide, although her body had not been found. Now she is back, amnesiac with flashes of uncomfortable memories. Buck Hamilton struggles with his competing feelings for his first wife and the woman he married seven years after he thought Sara was dead. He is also pulled by the competing demands of finding his daughter and keeping volatile secrets from the media as his campaign progresses.
After finishing the book, I found myself simultaneously satisfied with the main story of the novel and eager for the next installment to learn how the other storylines progress.

Every time B.J. Daniels comes out with another novel, I think that she can't possibly write one that's better than the last one I read, and she always proves me wrong--she just gets better and better, book after book.
The plot of this one is more complicated than most of her other titles, with several different story lines that all crisscross and combine to make this novel one fabulous, edge-of-your-seat read. Simply excellent!

I loved and enjoyed reading the sensational, mysterious, thrilling, and romantic love story by the best selling author B.J. Daniels that I received free from Goodreads First Reads. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Jace Calder's younger sister is worried about her employer, Bo Hamilton's, disappearance, in the mountains and asks her brother to search for her. Unknown to Bo or Jace an escaped killer is hiding in the mountains and takes Bo as a prisoner. Meanwhile, Bo's father, Buck Hamilton, is worried sick about Bo's disappearance and still reeling from his first wife, Sarah Hamilton's, reappearance from the dead after twenty two years with amnesia, marriage to his second wife, Angelina Broadwater Hamilton, and running for the republican presidency.
Read the highly recommended, captivating and engaging, full of mystery, action, and romance. Can't wait to read the next story in the series and find out more about Sarah Hamilton's missing twenty two years.

Lone Rider
B.J. Daniels
Harlequin HQN, Jul 28 2015, $7.99
ISBN: 9780373788415
In Big Timber, Montana, worried Emily Calder tells her brother Jace that her boss at the Sarah Hamilton Foundation Bo Hamilton failed to return from a night of camping. Emily says depressed Bo arranged for auditors to look into embezzlement of foundation funds. They were to interview her; but she failed to make the meeting.
Jace prefers to stay far away from the woman who rejected his proposal, but fears something happened to Bo. Though in the minority, he strongly believes she did not take the money nor would deliberately miss the appointment with the auditors especially since she found the discrepancies. In the nearby mountains, fearful Jace learns why Bo missed her session with the auditors she contacted.
The second Montana Hamiltons romantic suspense (see Wild Horses) is an exciting rustic thriller. The lead couple and the villain make for an interesting potentially deadly triangle in which the life-threatening danger rightfully supersedes the romance. Although there are too many subplots started for future entries (in fairness there are six Hamilton siblings and their mom back from the grave after a two plus decade vanishing needing a scorecard), Lone Rider is a wonderful second chance, if they survive, contemporary.

Wow how is it possible BJ keeps getting better. She always finds a way to one up the previous book. This is the thought process of an amazing writer. I loved Bo and Jace from he beginning. Bo is camping out trying to clear her mind and reputation because money is missing from the foundation she runs. Jace is a former flame and tracker. He has the honor to go search for her before a bad storm hits. Can these to people who once had love and lost it survive this journey. This a quick cat and mouse chase full of suspense and bumps in the road. Simply put must read for the summer.

This is the second book in the Montana Hamilton series and it just gets better. This is about Both Hamilton and Jace Calder, these two share a past and when she disappears in the mountains he's the only one who can find her. This book had suspense right from the very beginning and keeps you going until the very end. I love B. J. Daniels books, she mixes romance with drama, suspense and mystery. I loved everything about this book, it had me on the edge of my seat the entire book and I couldn't put it down. I read this book in one sitting. I can't wait to read the next book in this outstanding series!!!

The story was good, and kept me reading. But the ending was very abrupt, and left many unanswered questions. I really enjoyed it while I was reading it, but when I finished felt as if the whole book was a set-up for the next in an ongoing series. Any good series leaves some questions as a tease for the next installment, but this one was so incomplete as a stand-alone plot I probably won't be reading any further books in this series.

When Jace Calder saw his sister's face, he feared the worst. His sister Emily had been doing so will at the Sarah Hamilton Foundation.
What's wrong,he asked as he removed his Stetson, pulled up a chair at the Big Timber Java Coffee shop.
It is Bo Hamilton, she told me Fri. that she would be back by 10:00 this morning, but she has not showed up.
Sense Bo found out that there was money missing from the foundation, she has been worried. She went up into the mountains to think.
She ended up captured by a killer.
Jaces sister ask him to go and find her. Jace could not tell her no.Jace is going after Bo and bring her back and face the truth. Sense she has not returned everyone thinks that she took the money.

Please RateLone Rider (The Montana Hamiltons)
I really enjoy the writings of B.J. Daniels. She never disappoints. Lone Rider has realistic suspense and a sweet, second chance, romance. Not to mention a cast of intriguing characters and an ongoing mystery. Romantic-suspense, cowboy style.
For book #2 in The Montana Hamiltons we have the mysterious disappearance of Bo Hamilton, daughter #3, and lots of money from the Sarah Hamilton Foundation she runs. Emily Calder, an employee at the foundation, has a daughter and a past as a wild child with a prison record. Jace Calder is an old flame od Bo's and when his sister, Emily, asks him to find Bo, he volunteers to track her down in the Crazies, where she took off for on horseback. Bo, being a good citizen, gets herself caught up in every woman's worst nightmare.
Sarah Hamilton has returned from the dead and tells everyone she has no memory of the 22 years she has been away. The sheriff and his deputy are beginning to put some pieces together, but I think this is going to arc over the series only to be resolved in the last book.
