This is a terrific sequel to Bear Snores On. The pictures are vibrant and appealing. The rhyming text is clever and whimsical and appropriate for children just learning how to talk through age 5-6. We love giving these two books as gifts and our son enjoys them as well.

My son and I really really enjoy Bear Snores On. Bear Wants More, has the same adorable animals and brightly colored eye catching spreads, but the story seems to be lacking... when Bear gets stuck it seems contrived (not at all like when Winnie the Pooh gets stuck in his bear hole).

I was quite disappointed after receiving the book and looking it over to find that it was a Chick-Filet book-----------and someone was selling it when it could have been received at Chick Filet. However it does read the same.

Do not buy this brush! While brushing my child’s teeth, little plastic pieces broke off from the back of the brush & her mouth was filled with them. I can only hope she did not swallow any. I am so disappointed in this product. It is highly dangerous.

SUMMARY: Bear wakes up from his winter hibernation and he is VERY hungry! He begins by eating his lawn. Then his friends one by one come along and show him another food source including berries and fish. But bear is VERY hungry and cannot seem to get full. His friends throw him a surprise party which includes yummy treats. Bear eats his fill and is finally satisfied.

ILLUSTRATIONS: As with all of the Bear books, the pictures in this book are adorable, colorful, and fun. I always love the animals' facial expressions.

REVIEW: This was a fun journey as I watched Bear try to get full. He kept trying, but the small offerings just weren't enough for this giant animal. I loved how his friends stepped in and helped him in every way possible to find enough food for Bear to get full, including making yummy treats. Of course there was nothing left for them in the end, but this is a sign of true friendship--giving all you have even if it leaves you a little bit hungry.

AGE RECOMMENDATION: Ages 3-7

"When springtime comes,/in his warm winter den/a bear wakes up/very hungry and thin!" He lumbers outside and begins to look for food, eating the new shoots of grass that have popped up outside his front door. But that barely begins to satisfy his hunger, and the bear wants more. Fortunately his woodland friends, Mouse, Hare, and Badger pass by, glad to see him after the long winter, and help him find food... strawberries, clover, and fish in the stream. But the bear's still hungry and wants more to eat. "Meanwhile.../back at the big bear's den/wait Gopher and Mole/with Raven and Wren.// They bake honey cakes./They decorate the lair./It's a springtime party/for their good friend Bear!" Bear smells the party foods wafting in the air and hurries home to his big surprise party. But he's eaten so much today, that he's too big to fit into his den and gets stuck in his own front door. Now with a party inside just waiting to begin, what are Bear and his friends going to do..... Author, Karma Wilson and illustrator, Jane Chapman are back with a joyous springtime sequel to last year's marvelous Bear Snores On. Ms Wilson's rhythmic, rhyming text is engaging, and little ones will revel in reading the oft-repeated refrain, "But the bear wants more!", along with you. Ms Chapman's bold, bright and expressive artwork is filled with vivid color, eye-catching detail, and endearing characters. Together word and art usher in the spring with humor and fun. Bear Wants More is a winner, and a charming, read-aloud, preschool crowd-pleaser that shouldn't be missed.

When I worked as a children's librarian, the children loved the adventures of the big lovable bear and his friends. Karma Wilson has written an entire series of books following the predictable pattern that preschoolers love. They love to be able to anticipate what will happen next. The illustrations are beautiful and charming. I love her books for this reason. I bought them for the library and I buy them for my grandchildren.

Not only do I adore the illustrations and rhythmic text of these too-cute bear books, my 1-year-old daughter has LOVED them since the day I bought them (I got this one when she was about 7-8 months old). She makes me read them each 10 times a day, and she laughs every time when the bear sneezes in Bear Snores On. They are exactly the kind of book I would have loved to come up with myself. Beautiful work! We want them all!

Bear Wants More is a heartwarming book. The characters are endearing, and their interspecies friendship is beautiful.

The use of rhythm and rhyme in the text is really great. All too often, rhyming books for children are cheesy and cliche; this one is fresh and attractive. It even held my seven-month-old's attention when I read it to him for the first time yesterday!

I'd definitely recommend Bear Wants More. I can't wait to read Bear Stays Up for Christmas!

Another 5 star reception at our house! The kids wanted to stop unwrapping presents and read this as soon as they saw it! We're working on the memorization for this one too! (see my review of B Snores on) The kids were excited to see Bear waking up in the spring, which sparked lots of questions about why bears sleep all winter. A great jumping off point to introduce the kids to the habits of animals!

Can't wait for the new Bear book in Summer '06!

A super-cute kids story by Karma Wilson, Bear Wants More reads like a follow-up to Bear Snores On. It's got a good rhyme scheme and the illustrations are wonderful. Astute parents will notice that all of the animals on the cover are making the ASL sign for "more".

Bear wants more is a simple story with excellent illustrations. The story and illustrations will appeal to small childeren and teddy bear lovers. Bear is sweet, gets along with the rabbit, mouse and others. Readers will see some elements of the story when Pooh gets stuck in Rabbits house and when you give a mouse a cookie.
All in all a great little book.

Do you sometimes cringe when your child asks you to read "that book" for what feels like the 10 thousandth time? I know I have felt that way many-a-time with certain books. But "Bear Wants More" is a delightful, catchy book to read. I could read it all the time and never get tired of the way it flows off my tongue. It is a book that my 3 year old absolutely loves, and I am sure my 10 month old will love it just as much! The illustrations are beautiful...bear is bigger than all of his friends, but somehow looks so gentle. A definite must have in your child's personal library!

I loved this book! I eagerly awaited the release of this bear book by Karma Wilson. I just read it to my four year old daughter and she LOVED it. All of Bears friends are back in this delightful picture book. I can not wait for more books about bear and all his friends!

As a former Librarian I have a great appreciation for re-using Library books. I am also aware of the wear and tear board books go through particularly in a setting with multiple children. The condition of this copy was excellent. It will make a perfect stocking stuffer for my sons first Christmas.

I ordered this book because the cover looked so inviting, but the rhyming text and warm, fuzzy illustrations are what endears it to me. My two year old and my five year old have it memorized, and my husband picks it to read every other night at bed time. Their favoite part are the faces made by the hare! I was so excited to see that there is a new installment for "Bear" and his friends (Bear Wants More), and I am ordering it today!

Bear Wants More is very similar to Bear Snores On in that it is cute, cleaver, fun and educational. It can easily be used to explain the spring cycle of hybernation. Bear Snores On is a little better writing, but they are both big hits with the kids. The illustrations are wonderful.

Son, 3, now knows bears are preditors. This story is a little confusing to him because shows bear with human like qualities and human like friendship with other animals yet eating fish. He wanted to know what happened to the fish after the bear ate them. Had to explain that eating them made them dead and the bear chewed them up. Tried to give the answer that they made the bear's tummy full but he specifically wanted to know what about the fish. what was their experience in this. Anyway, either bear is preditor or a cartoon, human like figure in the story but a little of both upset child. also, not much point to the story expect that bears hibernate, wake up hungery, then ate all the food and didn't share with the nice friends that made him a party. At least he didn't eat them too!
