Lots of twists and turns! Charisse Tyson is a loving, kindhearted and generous woman who has been carrying a deep secret since she was 13 years old. A secret that keeps pushing her into destructive relationships with the most duplicitous men. They cheat on her, lie to her; one even cheated on her while she babysat his kids! Who does that? Will Charisse ever get the courage to face her past and finally find the true love that she so richly deserves? Nicely Done!

There were just so many things that happened to Charisse that a woman who is written as so intelligent, wouldnt seem to continue making the same mistakes in choosing men over and over again, the title of the book certainly fits because every man she was with was certainly a bum. Charisse was so smart but so dumb at the same time. She saw the writing on the wall with all of her men, but stayed involved with them despite the truth being right in her face. The story was interesting and kept me entertained, but at times I just could not relate to the stupidity of this 39-40 year old woman. I am intrigued enough though to want to read he sequel to see how her life turns out.

Charisse Tyson, for all outside appearances, has it going on. She's a successful real estate agent with the BMW 760 and mansion on the hill to show for it. The laws of attraction have her size 14 curves beckoning to most men that she encounters. But, Charisse will be the first to tell you that seductive curves, a hot car, and successful career aren't everything they're cracked up to be when you don't have anyone to share it with; well anyone other than lying, cheating dawgs. All of the men in Charisse's past and present are fine, charming, and cheating. It may take a little self-evaluation to find out just why Charisse Tyson is a bum magnet.

Forced to spend her second New Year's Eve alone because of another man's betrayal, Charisse finds herself sunken into a depression that is aided by chocolate, vodka and her favorite chaise. When she picks up an article in a popular women's magazine that encourages her to let go of her emotional baggage, Charisse vows to self-assess and stop attracting toxic men. As she turns back the pages of her journal, she re-evaluates her past relationships in hopes to find out just where it all went wrong. But, is it possible that she may be the cause of all of her man-related troubles? When Charisse meets Dwayne Gibson, a sexy home improvement contractor, she breaks a few newly resolved rules. Is he "the one" or just another dawg in disguise? Just what does it take to demagnetize the bums?

K.L. Brady has penned a clever, witty, insightful, and down right hilarious novel with THE BUM MAGNET. From the first page until the very last, I was laughing out loud and wondering just how this new author came up with this stuff. Charisse Tyson is a realistic and likable character with flaws and experiences that most women can relate to. The book flowed nicely, with well-written narrative, snappy dialogue, and a quickly evolving plot. Charisse's offbeat sense of humor coupled with her man-induced drama, had me rapidly turning the pages to find out how she rids herself of her bum magnetism. I was a bit disappointed to have easily guessed the outcome of what was supposed to be a mysterious sub-plot throughout the novel. But the skillful way in which Brady crafted this humorous read kept my disappointment at a minimum. This debut author is one to watch. I highly recommend THE BUM MAGNET!

Charisse Tyson would just as much tie a bone around her collar to justify the amount of dogs that enter her life. It seems as though just as she ditches one loser, another one sprouts up in his path proving to be even more conniving and destitute than the one before. How can she shake the disparity that causes losers to continuously cross their paths?

I absolutely loved this book. It had humor, it had emotion, it had the truth of relationships wrapped up in a not so pretty bow. Charisse proves that love can be a tricky, tricky thing. We desire to find the one who not only will sweep us off our feet but will keep us in midair suspended. This proves to not only often to be a façade but traps her in false hope, until harsh reality sets in. This was definitely a page turner that I could barely stand to put down. All women can certainly relate as they ask themselves, "Am I a Bum Magnet?"

I won this paperback last year from a giveaway by Diva's Bookcase and finally got around to reading it.

Charisse Tyson calls herself a bum magnet, because that's all she's seemed to be able to attract-bums. Throughout this funny and engaging read, we find out about all the bums Charisse has had to deal with--the playa playa who secretly had eight kids, the pretty boy with a wife on the side, and the deadbeat who made out with another woman in Charisse's car while she was out watching his kids. Now she meets a new guy named Dwayne, and wonders if her bum magnet curse will finally be broken.

I really enjoyed this story and I liked Charisse and all the other characters. It was a tad predictable at times, but still kept me eagerly turning the pages to read more. A great debut for author K. L. Brady.

I had a ball reading this book. I started reading it while getting my hair done and laughed and howled so loud so many times everyone in the shop wanted to get the book and read it as well. And since i didn't finish it at the shop as SOON as i got home, i made a cup of tea and sat on the couch to finish it. The writing is quick-witted, sarcastic, smart, dry and bitting at times. Just the kind of humor I'm into so i loved it. It's a quick-moving, easy and very enjoyable read. The Bum Magnet

I really enjoyed this one. Not only was the title catchy but the book was so entertaining I couldn't put it down. I grabbed it to read while on vacation and loved the fact that the main character was flawed, funny, and smart. The book had so many twist, turns, ups and downs that it had me cracking up laughing out loud. I loved this so much that I had to write a review. If you like chick lit and girl humor, this is a great read.

The Bum Magnet was a recommended read from another author Anna Black who I loved and I am absolutely a fan of, so when she posted on FB that this book is worth reading I said okay I'll give it a try and I'm so glad I did. Charisse was truly a mess, but not a hot mess. I love the way Ms. Brady told this story with humor. A lot of things that Charisse went through and did was a bit much, but I know a woman out there experienced at least one of Chariesse's experiences. I read this book so fast because it was just so entertaining for me. I had never heard of this author, but now I will be watching for her next book. Ms. Brady this was a great read. Even though I wanted to shake Charisse at times, she was a character I couldn't help but love.

Charisse Tyson the main character was smart, beautiful, sassy, motivated, and a bit sarcastic at times, all in the name of good humor. I absolutely loved her, she was . . . real, kinda like me! Yeah, maybe I have read other chick books with loads of snab-a-man drama, however, The Bum Magnet had me laughing my prized Sunday afternoon away. Yes, I read this book in less than 24 hours. I mean I was glued to the story and K.L. Brady kept me turning the pages at rapid pace trying to figure out what my sister-friend, Charisse was going to get into next!

Charisse is a great character. I fell in love with her. She felt very real- funny, smart, charming, witty but also lonely and flawed. Once I started to read her story, I didn't want to put the book down.

It was fun to try to guess what was going to happen- usually I was off on my predictions which was nice. It kept me guessing and very entertained.

I think we all have a time in our lives where we have to evaluate our past relationships and figure out if we have a pattern or a "type" that needs to be changed in order for us to be happy. You can't resist reading about a woman who is trying to figure it all out. She's been through so much! But all for a purpose.

I highly recommend this book.

Ask Charisse Tyson -about taking a self-inventory that sends you down the path of analyzing why you attract men that are no good for you--and see why you should do one yourself. Bum Magnet holds lots of truths for women who go from relationship to relationship. It's an entertaining, eye-opening, funny at times, yet serious account of being single and free. It's really worthwhile finding out what happens with Charisse's relationships with her customers, her friends, relatives, perfect strangers and her bums. --Rhonda

Charisse is an impressive character because she is real, witty and charismatic. Once I started to read Charisses' story, I did not want to put my iphone down. Every woman has a small part of this main character inside her soul.

I have to say that the book was very entertaining. Although I wasn't crazy about the packaged ending or the pop pshychology aspects, there were a few laugh out loud moments and an entertaining story line. Great summer/beach reading. Any woman could relate!

Charisse Tyler is a successful real estate agent whose main problem in life is that she attracts no-good men.
A magazine article leads Charisse to do some self-analysis and she goes on to relive EVERY sordid detail of EVERY failed relationship she's ever had in her whole life, which got to be irritating after awhile.
Not once does it dawn on Charisse that "like attracts like." She attracts lowdown men because she herself is a lowdown woman who sleeps with complete strangers first & only thinks to google them months after she started having sex with them.

Well, DUH! That's your problem right there... It's not them it's YOU! Men know a loose woman when they see one.

The bums that run in and out of her life aren't Charisse's problem so much as she is her own worst enemy, by allowing these lowlifes back in her bed even after she has clocked their bum status. This made me wish I could somehow slap some common sense into her... HARD! Women in their 20s or maybe even 30s behave like this, but at 42 Charisse should have learned better years ago, and so she comes across as silly and incredibly naive for someone her age.
There are numerous grammatical errors that were distracting, and it was ironic that Charisse claimed to be allergic to nuts but was always shoving Reese's peanut butter cups in her mouth.

I bought this book on Kindle because it was only 99 cents. I got what I paid for, but would still like a refund.
