Understanding the Purpose and Power of Women - God's Design for Female Identity

This book has re-ignited the intensity of prayer!
Everyone should read it if they want to get closer and experience a deeper understanding of WHY we pray and WHAT happens WHEN we pray!
Myles.... You really captured the spirit!!

This book answered many of my questions in regard to my position in the Earth and ministry. It assured that I am not interior in the sight and design of God, nor do I need to strive to prove that I am superior to males. Each of us has our place and purpose. This is very helpful in understanding better ways to handle people in different types of relationships because of the clarity revealed by this author.

Munroe’s first chapter is actually pretty good. He claims women are equal to men before God and that a woman can only find her true identity and purpose in God. However, he also perpetuates the myth that Christian egalitarianism insists that there is no difference of any kind between men and women. This is false. Nobody actually thinks that. After chapter one, things swiftly go downhill and, eventually, Munroe insists that God’s design of woman designates her “primary purpose” as being a wife and a helper to her husband. Enjoy this quote from Chapter 6, pg. 109: “The woman’s purpose is to assist the man in fulfilling God’s plan for his life. ...the female must understand that her fulfillment is related to the male’s vision. In other words, she can never really be complete if she does not help him fulfill his vision.” Wait. Did he really just conflate establishing our identities in Christ with the call to lose our identities in our husband? Yes... Yes he did. So, what happened to Munroe’s claim that we’re equal before God? Hmm.... Seems like Jesus stepped out of the room for that part of the discussion. So, I guess it would suck if you never marry, or if your husband walks out on you or dies. I guess if a woman’s purpose before God dies with her husband, it makes sense why so many women have been expected/forced to throw themselves on his funeral pyre.

Another great book by Dr. Miles. One thing is preventing this book, and others like it from really spreading enough thru male idiology as to create the tipping point we need. The book is loaded with Christian references, when Dr Miles clarity and common sense is more than enough to bring the points home. Most christians out there are even tired of everything being related to this vague seemingly lovable character.....far, far away.....yet again! And what about Jews, Hindus,Muslims and people of the 101 other faiths. Does this book then mean that it is not really for them? See, once you have black there has to be white, its opposite. So if you read something that is based on Christian Gospel...that (in some peoples mind) may make them think that it doesnt apply as much to "other" people. I also believe something Dr Monroe may not....THERE ARE NO "OTHER" PEOPLE!!! Still, 5 stars from a very gifted speaker.

And... If you haven't given his book or cd set of "The Principles and Power of Vision to every one of your children and friends you love......START WITH THAT BOOK FIRST. As a male who read it about 10 years ago, and a self improvement book junkie, I rate that book as perhaps in the top 5 self help books for both men and women of all time!Get the CD set, the power of Miles voice just compells you to action! -) And it may sound offensive to some Christians here...but in THESE particular times we live in where so few people, especially our youth(Look at Gangs and the overflowing prison system) can relate to the bible in any way...I'd actually give them Miles book on Vision alone, if they aren't ready for the Bible, and that will help them lay the foundation of their lives regardless of what religion or faith they embrace. 5 stars for both books! And for the elderly who think its time to dry up and wither away....get them miles book on vision too! I actually came online now to buy the CD set on Vision because I wore the cassettes out!!! Wish I could give that book 7 stars! I loved the part in Vision where he talks about a young girl throwing her future away for some guy that "put s a $15 ring on your hand!" Im still laughing 10 years later. Thats why you need to hear Miles, not just read him.

I purchased several of Munroe's books because of a message I heard/saw on TV some 25 years ago having to do with "purpose." The delivery and content of that message was at excellent. I've glanced at the books, but an not into his theology. The 1-star rating has more to do with my not having read the books than a bad-to-good scale review. The video message is around here somewhere on an old VHS tape.

I thought it had very good points but also explored some controversial topics with tact and ease. I wish I could have had a conversation with him about some of the points in the book that I thought challenged my perspective. Probably best to read and discuss in small groups so that the topics within can be dissected and provide further clarity.

We all suffer from ignorance, no ones exempt. This work has been very pleasantly enlightening. I've moved in leaps and bounds in understanding, that i wouldn't reach on my own. His covers some beautifull nessesary ground, this writing has really broken some chains and Ive found to be a treasure. And will be sure to read the power and purpose of men!

I was looking for a book about relationships and I chose to read Understanding the Purpose and Power of Men because it had a subheading that said a book for men and the women who love them. Well I read that one first which made me understand my relationship better with the man in my life now it was my turn to understand what God expected of me in my relationship. I am so pleased that I read this book. I now understand better what God has intended for me to do in my relationship and since gaining this knowledge my relationship with my boyfriend has improved leaps and bounds. God truly blessed Dr. Munroe and I am so greatful for his knowledge.
