Interesting story. Easily entreated. Quick read with good plot and main character. Humor isn't forced or overdone. Self-contained, with no need to read more in the series, but wouldn't object to returning to the next ones.

Avery is an original heroine from her occupation tasting food, Australian background and keeping ahead of the mob - at times.
Twists and turns, who does she trust? Josh, Conner, her 'boyfriend'/ associate or the famous chef, suspicions grow as she goes deeper into trouble...
Cast of lovable nosy neighbor, roommate who is 'in the dark', her cat, Meow, lots of action as Avery charges ahead....
I would recommend it to everyone.

Fun start to a new series. A definite different premise in personal security. Izzy & Connor make the perfect sleuthing couple. Laughs, romance, and mystery will grab you form page one. I'm off to read book 2!
The Butterfly Code: A Page-Turning Thrill Ride :: The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen (2011-01-11) :: The Moonstone (The Penguin English Library) :: The Mathemagician's Guide to Lightning Calculation and Amazing Math Tricks :: Murder with Peacocks (Meg Langslow Mysteries)

Funny mystery with serious moments that make the mystery plausible. I love finding a new series that makes me want to get to know the characters and to interact with them (well, just read about them) for more adventures. The balance of humor and mystery and action seemed just right to me. I look forward to reading the next books in this series.

Tried this book largely because the title took the mickey out of that other one which I couldn't stand - and I was pleasantly surprised. No, nore than pleasantly surprised - thoroughly enjoyed this book. Interesting story line, entertaining characters and very well written. So many good books out there where the poor writing which distracts you from enjoying the story - not this one. Give it a try.

How this charmer had me stumped, entertained, and giggling! The characters and plot line left me wanting more. Levi and Etta--as well as Connor--had better make a return in future books. Take THAT scoffing brother of this clever author!!!

It may not be hugely challenging, but thoroughly enjoyable. Loved the characters and the down to earth attitudes. Will definitely read the next in the series. Keep writing girl your style is wonderful. What do brothers know.

Did not expect this fast-paced , fun adventure to turn into such a page Turner, but I could not put it down. Perhaps ditsey Issey reminded me too much of myself but I had to make sure she got out of her never- ending scrapes.
Great fun and now hooked on the series.

Izzy is the modern Stephanie Plum and Connor her Ranger, he is dangerously handsome and his existence in her life is more dangerous than the poison she ingested to keep others safe. If that doesn't make for great reading I don't know what does, I couldn't put the book down!

Different if implausible concept. Fun reading. I liked most of the dialogue, the characters were fairly well developed....but the editors Ms Field credits so highly failed to catch a blooper!
SPOILER ALERT: when Kate's mystery child was first mentioned, it was a son. The next time and through the rest of the book it was a daughter. Oops!
Will I read more of the series? Probably. Fun reads don't strain the brain!

No, not that old profession. This heroine works for a mysterious and hidden group that provides protection against (and investigation of) poisonings. Or, rather, she wants to work for them, but first she must pass her test by protecting a faux "client" by detecting and identifying poisons before he ingests any of them.
But then one of their own testers turns up poisoned, and they have only days to save her by tracking down the killer and identifying the poison.
This novel is the first of a new series, and I look forward to reading the next. The central character has an interesting background--a new immigrant from Australia, fleeing from an expensive divorce and the debt that accompanied it. The secondary characters are also engaging, and the plot moves right along with a taut, dangerous conclusion.
