This is my favorite kids book - hands down! Recommended to me by a parenting coach years ago.
I used it to teach my kids to tell me about their feelings. It goes way beyond just happy & sad.
The very first time I read it to my 8-year-old, I asked her how she was feeling.
"Thankful that you're my mom," she replied.
It is proven that neglecting children's emotions is a source of many personality disorders (BPD, Schizoid, OCPD, etc) later in adulthood.
Nip it in the bud.
I would also recommend books by 4x Best-Selling author J.B. Snow.

This book creates such a vivid world of explanation for children and the particular feelings they may have. It is very confusing to decipher a felling, especially for young children. This book enlightens the soul!

Great book for kids that are leaning about emotions. My four year old has been more articulate about her feelings after reading this book. Helps kids identify what they are feeling an communicate it back to you.

This book is great for preschoolers processing emotions. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. Each page has a feeling, an explanation of why someone might feel this way, and an accompanying picture. My 3.5 year old cannot get enough of this book. First we read through it just as a book. Then we read it again and talk about the emotions on each page, talking about a time when we have felt this way (I.e. what makes you feel frustrated? When my baby brother knocks down my block tower I feel frustrated.). We sometimes practice making a face that goes with each emotion. On days we feel silly we sing a song in the voice of that emotion. Singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in an angry voice is pretty fun. This book will engage your child and open up many conversations about their feelings. The only downside is that your child may want you to read this book over and over again more times than you wish.

I would Children have difficulty verbalizing and understanding their feelings. As a parent and Elementary School educator, it is my responsibility to assist all students with developing their social skills and language acquisition.
Great as a read-aloud, classroom library, and personal gift to someone that needs a helping hand.

This is a great, colorful book to start a dialogue with your kids about their feelings and how to express them. My boys (3 and 4) love it and my 4 year old is starting to recognize the letters with all the different fonts used. Great book!

The illustrations and content of this book are really expressive of feelings, this is a good book to use when teaching kids about different ways they can feel. Colorful illustrations keep the attention of the child as well.
