This book is absolutely fantastic. I'm going to school to be a teacher and am required to present full lessons to my cohort, addressing them as though they were my second grade students. I read this book during a quick mini-lesson on emotions. Everyone loved it! Nearly every one of my classmates has gone out and purchased this book to add to their classroom library.

My daughter like to shot out the main verbage... "my mouth is like a volcano". She hasn't quite grasped the concept yet, she's 7 and top of her class, but she is also an outburst type. I'm hoping that with enough breaks in-between reading and sticking to it that it'll dong on her to think before speaking. Otherwise the book itself is fast paced and fun to read.

Excellent book for all children to read. As a mom of twins and a school counselor, I highly recommend this to help teach children about how their words impact others. Think - Is it thoughtful, kind, does it need to be said. Learning filters can be a challenge for young people...well, and grown ups as well :)

One of my favorite authors. Julia Cook has these books that teach lessons that we encounter on a daily basis in our classrooms but puts a funny spin to it so the children really enjoy the story. When it comes from a "kid" perspective, they seem to understand and relate alot more.

Awesome perfect book. After reading this a few times - the catch phrase started to work. When my daughter interrupts, I say 'you're mouth is a volcano!' And she immediately knows what that means. It has made it easier for me to reason with her and she stops interrupting quicker than the struggles we have previously had. She just turned 4. We both love this book!

My grandson has a mouth that never closes....even while he is eating or drinking, and some of the stuff that comes out of it, yikes! He has even been getting in trouble at school because of his constant chatter. This seems like the perfect tool to go over & over with him, until he learns to curb his speech, and know when & what is to be said.

I thought this book was about erupting bad words/anger management but was surprised to read that it actually targets interrupting and impulsive blurting. It's a great little story about how others might feel when interrupted and even give a strategy for how to keep words from erupting from your mouth. Love it and will use it with my ADHD kiddos in therapy.

Great idea and storyline in theory but too long and wordy to keep a younger child engaged. I found myself paraphrasing and summing up what was happening instead of being able to read the entire story.

My students were obsessed with this book! I read it a few weeks ago so they could make text-to-self connections. My class is still taking turns each day rereading the story and passing it along to another classmate. It was such a hit and a lot of kids could relate to the story. It reinforces the idea of waiting your turn to speak and to not interrupt others.

My son with Autism has the challenge of talking too much and making noises which disrupts classroom learning, TV shows or movies, adult interactions and conversations etc. This has helped him better understand keeping quite and taking turns speaking. This book is fun to read and prefect for any children with a volcano mouth.

My daughter is a big interrupter. After reading this book, we can just remind her of her volcano and she will sit patiently waiting to speak her mind. She had improved quite a bit since we started reading to her last week. Love it.
