I absolutely loved this! The characters were so real. I related to the issue they had encountered after years of being in love. It was fabulous how they worked on their love. I got quite a few pointers. This was my first book but I can't wait to read more.

What an Amazing realistic love story. Elin and Ty captured my heart from the beginning and kept it way past the last page. This book made me laugh, hope, and ugly cry. This was the first book I have read by Adriana Locke but will not be my last!

What a superb book! I am crying, writing this. This is a story I will never forget. It's about real life and choices people make. Some good, some bad. It's about love and forgiveness. Ms. Locke, I thank you for such a beautiful story.

I loved the reality and the pain described through out the book. I wish the author had decided to read that letter. I was looking forward to what Ty’s last words may have been. I’m loving the ending although Cord passed I can’t help but feel how real it is instead of the happy ever afters I’m always seeing. Loved the story but it felt a bit rushed.

Those emojis are exactly how I felt reading this book! I absolutely loved it! It tug at my heart strings. At first reading I realized how much I loved every character in this story. I couldn't figure out who was the hero in it. In every story I read there's a hero who I fall in love with. Ty and Elin went through something that was hard to swallow and I loved the outcome. Still they weren't my heroes. Then I thought it might be Jiggs and his wife. Nope not them either. It was actually Cord!! I never give details about a book but unfortunately Cord part in it broke my heart. I never cried so much. I hated his ending. He was it all for me loving, sincere and real. He never had a family and always consider himself the fifth wheel among this group but to me he was the glue that kept everyone together. But that's enough about that. I loved this book. Thank you for writing it.

The scars of our lives make us stronger and prove that you've lived and loved and fought for it all. This book is a great story about how messy life can get but how wonderful it is at the end of the day.

Adriana Locke’s, Written in the Scars is loaded with some heavy issues which revolve around Ty and Elin. I adore books that are both emotionally charged and realistic at the same time. Story lines that look into the happenings, both the happy and not so happy moments in a marriage. It pulls a chord that’s directly connected to my tear ducts which in the past have led to some really bad bouts of ugly crying. I waited for that moment time and time again while reading this book and while there were definitely times that had my stomach aching because I felt so incredibly bad for Elin, the tears never quite came.

Ty and Elin have been a love match from a young age and though their love for one another is true and strong, the countless tragedies that befall them become too much to bear thus leading Ty to walk out on Elin. Being apart for those couple of months allows both of them to think through the worthiness of their marriage and their love for one another. When Ty finally returns home, he’s set out his mind to win Elin over. I felt like Ty expected Elin’s forgiveness to come too quickly and too easily, never quite allowing her to work through her feelings of abandonment and resentment. To be frank, Ty annoyed me during so many times in this book. I was frustrated about how overtly confident he was. Like, he was given free rein to just walk back into her life, as if nothing had happened. Gosh, I wanted to bad for Elin to make him work to regain her love and her trust. I wanted to feel that push and pull so badly!

However frustrated I felt in that regard, it can’t be denied that when Elin and Ty came together, they were sweet as honey. I loved how Ty would tease and prod her to lighten the weight on her shoulders. You could feel just how much they adored one another through their interactions; be that arguing or making up. I couldn’t get enough of the flirty feel that went on between them. It made me feel young and in love.

The last few chapters of this book brought on some major emotional punches to the gut which was a nice touch in my opinion. I also thought that the author wrapped up their story nicely. Bittersweet to say the least but it ends with such a meaningful message about love and life in general.

Written in the Scars is a roller coaster of a read with a set of characters who have issues many of us could relate to. A story of the ups and downs in relationships and the ultimate fight one is willing to go through in order to save a worthwhile and lifelong love.

Written in the Scars is a poignant and beautiful story of healing, hope, family, and, most of all, love. Adriana Locke did a wonderful job of giving us the story of Ty and Elin. They are strong yet vulnerable characters, whose struggles are real and emotions are raw. I could feel Ty’s and Elin’s turmoil and the stress on their relationship. It was painful to watch them struggle on their journey back to one another. They had both suffered more than they could handle, or so they thought. It took an explosive moment in their past and a separation to force them to look more deeply at their relationship. It’s not easy to rethink your relationship when you’ve been together for so long. Sometimes you have to strip away all the pain to start over and come back together as new, but scarred, individuals. With so much left unsaid and too many secrets, I wondered if they would get there. I wanted to yell at them both for their pride and stubbornness! But I guess that’s easy to say when you’re reading both points of view. Thank goodness for Cord! He was their voice of reason, telling them to fight for what they could have. And I’m glad Ty decided to hang on as tightly as he could. It was clear Elin wasn’t going to fall for him so easily this time.

I loved the secondary characters and their friendships. I think Cord was my favorite person. His story played such a pivotal role in that of everyone else’s. Even though his life was filled with pain, he was the one to teach them how to love more deeply than they thought possible and to never give up on themselves or each other.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.

With only two other Adriana Locke titles under my belt, Written in the Scars proves to be another reason that Locke is becoming a go to author for me. Reading both, Wherever it Leads and Sway, Locke proves she can write both heartwarming and swoon-worthy. Written in the Scars is different. It’s pure, raw and so heartbreakingly honest; there isn’t one chapter that doesn’t resonate with readers.

As a reader who has shared similar heartache and disappointment endured by Elin and Ty, Locke’s words hit home. All the pain, all the suffering… the relentless feeling of doubt and failure – the worry that maybe love really isn’t enough; Written in the Stars captures these sentiments effortlessly. Through meticulous detail, Adriana Locke pays attention to the details of a relationship. Exploring both the highs and lows, Elin and Ty paint a perfectly imperfect picture of life.

Written in dual POV’s, Adriana Locke allows readers to be extensively immersed in all the emotions. What will also catch readers off guard is the very important role a secondary character plays in the development of this story; Cord will forever hold a special place in this readers heart. Woven delicately through every chapter Cord McCurry’s advice, presence and influence, is what captures the essence of this gut-wrenchingly beautiful story.
