We are introduced to Chloe and Jackson, and we learn how they came to be childhood friends. I was feeling sorry for Chloe, after what happened to her on her thirtieth birthday. Chloe got the shock of her life. I was shocked at the end of the book, that was a huge secret, now I understand what happened to their friendship, I can't say that I blame Jackson for not wanting to speak to Chloe. Chloe had a rough start to her life but she ended up having a great friend until it all went wrong in college. You'll have to read Promise To Marry if you want to know what happened. Jessica, you never cease to surprise me, I didn't expect that all, I can't wait to read Promise To Keep. I loved it.

Fortunately, I got this short story for free, but I won't get back the 10 minutes it took for me to read it.
This is not a book, it's a prologue to get you to buy the other two books in the series. I have not read them, so I can't tell you if they are not actual books but short stories. he buildup is intriguing, but that's the only good thing I can say.. Throughout most of the story, we don't know what caused the major conflict., I was hoping it would be something unpredictable, but sadly I saw a variation of it coming a mile away. And then we find out in the last few pages, through a flashback, just what happened. If I could insert a .gif here, I would throw in Amy Poehler saying "Really? Really?" from SNL. The big reveal was beyond ridiculous - but you have no time to process it, since the "book" just abruptly ends immediately after.
The sad thing is that this could've worked if a better editor had been hired. So much promised, so little delivered.

I hated being sucked into this series because in my opinion it's not that great. However, the cliffhangers just did me in. I think some aspects were added just for the shock value. I thought this series would revolve more in present time, but I think it's more in the past. A lot of the material seemed to repeat itself in that we would get a snippet and then later get the full scene. The execution didn't work for me. There is some depth in the series.

The "heroine" is a disgusting human being. If you want to read about a prostitute, feel free to read this. That is definitely not my interest. I got the book for free and resent the time I spent on it. I thought this would be a second chance romance, but will not read further in this series because a HEA for the man would be finding a decent woman who would love him--this would not in any way, shape or form be the "heroine". Yuck. I need mind bleach and to read a really good book to get this filth out of my mind. I honestly cannot comprehend how anyone gave this book anything other than a 1 star rating. I'm losing my faith in humanity to think that there are people that think this piece of reeking garbage is worth 5 stars.

I really enjoyed the way the author Jessica Wood made you feel like you were part of the story and how the book kept me wanting to find out what was next. I have purchased the other two books and I can't wait to find out how the book ends :) definitely recommend this as a read for adult audiences..

I have some mixed feelings about this book, I liked some things but I disliked a few others, the narrative felt really fast, the chapters changed from one to the next, changing between present and past, which was good because they give us a sense of who these characters are and the things that they have lived through that have made them act like they do in the present.
But let’s start from the beginning, the book is about two best friends, since hey were little they made a pact to marry each other by the time they turned 30, now that premise I really like, best friends falling in love, but in this book, something happens to these characters along the way that by the time they turn 30 they aren’t even on speaking terms. And this is where the time hops come into play, we see them as young kids, when they first met and how their lives progressed but the problem for me was that even though we get these glimpses into their past I never really connected with them in the present. Most of it is Chloe’s story but I never felt a connection to her, I think maybe it would have helped if we had a little more sense of how she is in the present, because from her past we can’t really now her because obviously something happened that changed her.
I liked that the book was easy to read, it was fast and it did have some sweet moments with the two main characters growing up.
I was somewhat ready to give up on this series but then I got to the end and I just can’t! Such a cliffhanger! I just have to know what happens next and hopefully we’ll get more of an insight into who these people really are.

I really enjoyed this story, but for how short it was it should not be called a book. I'm sure it is spaced out that way to get you to buy additional books to finish the plot. Not sure I'm ready to spend 3.99 for what I'm sure will be another short story.
